I'm a musician, I regularly work in theatre, and I can tell you they are often pretty anal about playing it exactly to the chart. That little exchange sounds jovial but honestly, if someone said that to me, I'd take it pretty seriously!
The best part about this video is how engaged the crowd is. Most crowds don’t seem to care that much about instrumentalists, only vocalists. They’re really listening to and engaging with each element which I find is rare to see. I can’t tell weather the crowd is the ensemble cast or just a random audience, but either way they rock!
“Played* exactly as i wrote it” Makes a pretty big difference, since it’s instead of it being commanding, it’s a reference to how he played it himself when composing. As in with both hands for only a single monotone baseline. He is basically having a dig at himself for not being that great on piano and/or composing a very very basic song which was later fleshed out by the rest of the team.
I love the strings in Yorktown! And i love the music to the dance brake in Yorktown. It's so cool to see all the instruments play their respective parts and then hear them all together. I love it.
Wonderful! FWIW, Sitzprobe is one of the biggest rushes there is in the theater. For weeks everyone has been off in their corners rehearsing their stuff. Sitz is the first time the cast hears the orchestra, and the orchestra hears the cast. My favorite Sitz was a production of Grease, my first non-chorus role, where I actually got to sing with a rock 'n roll band for the first time.
Since I'm only seeing this as a reply, Lin at 2:53 is saying "Played exactly how I wrote it!" When Lin was writing Hamilton, he sat at a piano and just wrote what he thought worked, and when writing that part was likely doing that same "finger-tapping" that the person is seen doing. This makes Alex Lacamoire's comment of "We all carry a piece of Lin everywhere we go" actually make sense. If Lin was saying "Play it exactly as I wrote it" with Lacamoire's response makes very little sense Going to the Twitter where these all come from, Lin writes "Sitzprobe Yorktown Breakdown pt.2! (With the Keyboard 2 section, the only part I could credibly play in the pit)" Again, implying that keyboard 2 is a lot simpler than keyboard 1, and Lin could play easily if he were in the pit, especially with how the person there was playing it.
We did this in my schools orchestra (both high school and college). It’s always a treat and very helpful when you hear each sections part!! One of my favorite methods during rehearsal!👏🏾
My fave part was seeing them be so supportive of the keyboardist who had the accompanist part. Not as fancy as a melody line, but still an impactful part.
when I just randomly found out Lin was recording because he just flipped the camera and yelled I lost it
He giggled a little before that and I knew!
I got the chills when the strings started playing lol
They’re my FAVORITE part of the break. It’s just the strings going in!
Was it just me or did anyone sing yorktown during this video or was it just me
us string players have that power 😌
Omg same though!
They were so in sync and it was so powerful my goodnesssss
Wait, Lin’s been holding the camera the whole damn time?!?!??
Yeah lol, I only realised that as he started laughing
The whole damned time.
Pov: You are Lin Manuel Miranda
@@williamfrederickiversen3588 that made me so sad it must be GREAT to be lin manuel miranda
This is the best song in Hamilton. Fight me
Agreed!
I raise you Quiet Uptown
Sure. Wait for It. Outside!
guns and ships
@@ericalopez6171 I am not throwing away MY SHOT!
I actually replayed the string part with an unhealthy amount of times
It is my dream to play in the string section of Hamilton 🤣
I actually replayed this whole vid an unhealthy amount of times 🤣😂😂
especially when the harmony came in HAHA, i couldn’t stop rewinding😭
Lin: "Play it exactly as I wrote it!"
Lacamoire: "We all carry a piece of Lin with us!"

@@Kerynasta see i think he said ""played as i wrote it!" like referreing to her tapping the notes with her pointer fingers but das just me
hes saying "played exactly how i wrote it!" referring to her using both pointer fingers- thats why they are laughing
Maybe the true Lin Manuel Miranda is the friends we make along the way!

Well I believe this is the cast lol
The crowd is the cast
The joy of the cast just to be there and be part of THIS. I can feel it coming off them.
I never realized how many instruments are in this one little part, absolutely stunning
that's why is so good
i love the crowd dancing and vibing to the strings lol
even you
Gpaderna as a cello, piano, and bass player, yes I was also vibing HARD
That guitar part would be so badass as the central riff to a rock song.
I CANT BELIEVE I DIDNT FIND THIS EARLIER
THE ENERGY IN THE ROOM
The laptop killed it
😂😂😂
My favorite instrument
JAJAJAJAJA YEEES , wonder if that was hard to record/do, so cool
The dance break and the Hercules Mulligan parts were the best parts of Yorktown honestly
I love Heracles mulligan
Me hearing lins voice but cant find him-
when i found out he was holding the camera- 👁️👄👁️
2:53 KEYBOARD 2 : IS PLAYING
LIN: PLAY IT EXACTLY AS I WROTE IT!!!!!

Those strings are HEAVEN
I get pirates of the Caribbean vibes sometimes
It's great. Alex is from the Caribbean too
@@gpaderx6105 So is Hamiton...

yeah, the strings / dance break are very piratecore!
I always wondered how they made the disc scratching noise
its a space bar lol
Lin is recording sick
The strings are the most elite. Thank you for your time.
I love the strings in Yorktown! And i love the music to the dance brake in Yorktown. It's so cool to see all the instruments play their respective parts and then hear them all together. I love it.
Anybody else get chills when the strings hit?
I know Lackety Lack is responsible for the arrangement, but, at one point, all this music was in Lin's head.
It took me a while to see that the camera man is Lin...
such a beautiful supportive musical environment, I'm tearing up :)
Play it exactly as I wrote it!
The Linnamon Roll has spoken!
When the boss calls you out in front of all your co-workers.
He actually says played exactly as I wrote it essentially calling him self out for how simple it was before Andy Lacomoire added the orchestrations
I dont why but i found this very interesting!
i wish i could just know how to play an instrument
it’s not too late to learn if you’re able!

What's your favorite part?
Mine is the bass part, followed closely by the string section.
I like the "secret ingredient", the scratches, followed by the guitar. But I'm biased because I'm a guitarist.
Mine is switched. The string section is my favorite followed closely by the bass.
BAAAASSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!
Bass sounds like if Justin Chancellor's playing
I love all of the instruments together!
Dam that is some talent right there
They all sound cool and it becomes a masterpiece when put all together

That ending bit with the strings is chilling
I heard Lin’s voice but I didn’t realize he was filming😫
I come back to this video everyday for a dose of anti-depressant
this whole video is art at work, I have goosebumps!!

This is quite impressive. The strings......sound amazing.
It's all fun and games until the strings start playing
I’m actually in tears, why am I just seeing this
Beautiful choreography beautifully danced.
Love this! The talent is amazing!
It's about time some damn brothers up in that cast gettin' that gawt dang bass.
YASS bass, guitar and drums are so nasty I just love this!!!!

Holy crap.PiAno guy. They all feeding off you. No pressure. Guh.

They're all absolutely AMAZING, but the strings steal the show

The guitar sounds like like a prog metal intro

Never realised how much the guitar shreds in this song 😂
STRINGS RULE!!!!!!
The best part 4:39
3:20 my favorite
Big man in the pink shirt is my spirit animal.
Awesome bravo
So this is how I find out the guitar part of "Yorktown" is just the galloping riff from Blondie's "Call Me" lol.
Are there any other pieces of Hamilton filmed like this where they broke it up? I’ve watched this too many times 😅😍
Lol sounds like he said "SHIT!!!"
Why is John Wick on the drums?
Come on strings!!!!!
I always wonderd how I should translate "Sitzprobe" into english. Now I know. ;)
And i tought i could learn to play yorktown with piano-
Not gonna happen
Is this Alex lacamoires RUclips channel
Does anybody have a recording of Lin reprising Alexander in PR I really need to see him with this company perform
the strings make that song
Does anybody know if the tabs for the guitar part exist anywhere?? I wanna play it so bad
No ones talking about the scratching like whaaaat
The musicians are like so undderrated
can’t tell me this but came right out a halo soundtrack
Anyone else add in all the other instruments when hearing the piano?
Okay, now teach us the actual dance😂🤚🏼
But the guitar sounds like the music in wolf guest.
I’m just saying!
Nobody's talking about that drummer's facial hair?
Nice letimotif
That guitar sounds like king Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard lmao
