You taught me how to play without any professional lessons. Power of RUclips ... power of Marty! 👏🏼👌🏽
Kc 85 I WAS at the same place! I was glad I found Marty, but recently I started taking professional classes, and my playing improved HUGELY the last month. Really recommend it
Long live Marty teaching the lovely feeling of guitar playing
@@manuelpadilla1891 I've been wanting to, a friend once told me that there is only so much you can learn on your own
@@FirBurger98 i also learn by myself. all you need is understand the bigger picture and practice on purpose. example, dont just learn song. breakdown that song. what key they played, what scale, what chord progression, the tempo. and figure out how it works together. this gives you more abroad insight from just one song. but sure it needs focus, and take some time to learn few things and a little theory.
once i get this mindset, practicing guitar is more fun than before.
@@beruanglaut3955 well said, if it's a drag to practie something, you probably shouldn't be practicing that instrument

Thanks a lot!!
Thanks 😅
Clutch
Frusciante has to be the most underrated guitarist ever.. the guitar on this record is fucking gorgeous. Great lesson Marty
Temple Slug yeah I agree
Temple Slug except that he ain't. He is deservedly held in high respect.
Temple Slug I think that's why we all want to learn it!
He's definitely not underrated lol, he was actually honored by a major magazine as the greatest guitarist of the last 30 years.
not sure you entirely know what "underrated" means
I’m learning this on acoustic. Day 1 and my hand has a 6 pack
I know right!😂
Actully it's not that hard on acoustic
Same!
That Bmaj chord on the 14th fret on an acoustic without a cutout though.
@MattProtagonist you can barre 9th fret and play the D shape. Should fix that prob
Thanks Marty! You´ve been my guitar teacher since i was 15 years old, now and 21 and i´m still learning! Greetings from México!
Cristian Castillo Tienes muy buen inglés, donde lo aprendiste?
Cristian Castillo if theres something that will make marty feel old...here we go mans is 23 now

when ever i play power chords i end up playing smells like teen spirit for the one millionth time.
Cam Rocket lol you gotta have the John frusiante fingers
Cam Rocket John plays a d dshape on the 9th not an a shape on the 14th
Same hate when that happens
Dude you gotta get more FINGAAAAA
Haha sams
The is definitely the hardest song I have tried to learn so far ... I won’t give up though. Wish me luck
How is your experience? Did you get it?
@Wondellerr I learned in a week or 2 and I’ve been playing for 2 months barring the way John does is much easier than the “standard” way marty shows
jjjirvine the hard part is alternate picking it
@@jjjirvine8 hey same here ive been playing for 3 months (6-7 hours of rpactice everyday) it took me 2 weeks properly to learn it like about 3 weeks ago
Sodon't try to learn Metallica's songs ....
i tried learning this like, three years ago and couldn't even begin. now, just learned the thing in the span of two hours. thanks marty!
Same experience but two years lateral. A coincidence?
@@wickettripperklown could very well be. good job man!
Feels so good to play this song. But i have to put my thumb under the neck, i thinks my hands are too big to play like hendrix.
@@wickettripperklownthat makes no sense
thank u so much marty! you’ve literally taught an entire generation how to play guitar, we would all suck without u.
Thank a lot, Marty. I'm 44, my guitar was left away for many years, but as I have to stay at home because of the corona, I came to your class and started to learn this great song, that remembers my 16. Great Lesson (first and second part)! My Best for you, from Brasil.
Thanks for supporting me at my channel, which is right here!
Marty Music Hey Marty! It would be great if you could you do a lesson of Slow dancing in a burning room by John Mayer (where the light is version).
love your guitar lessons👍
+Marty Music what up Marty think you could please do a tutorial on scars by papa roach that would be really cool thanks
Marty Music Could you do a lesson on Purple Stain by the Red Hot Chili Peppers? I know it sounds easy but the chorus is giving me some trouble... Thanks and keep up the awesome guitar lessons.
Marty Music love you man! You are my teacher! Question..is this the full lesson on this song? Thanks!

Been playing for 5 months now and I learned to play the intro without a capo yesterday, so I decided to learn the rest of the song, and this song just makes me feel really skilled.
Thanks for the free lessons!
Good for you lol. I made a mistake by learning it with Capo on second just to make the intro easier and when I started watching this video I was like awesome all of these are bar chords below the 2nd and I thought I was fine until I watched the outro.
Just learned this song on my new electric guitar. My favorite song without a doubt. And also one of the most beautiful songs ever made in my opinion.
Absolutely 🤘🤘
john frusciante is the man! thanks for the lesson marty. great job
Thanks Bram!
I’ve been playing guitar for almost 15 years now mostly hard rock heavy metal/ classic rock...and believe me when I tell you this song is kicking my ass I never thought that a damn Red Hot Chili Peppers song would be so hard
when u stutter so you just roll with it (its ok marty i do the same thing) love u marty ur the man
This is now my new favourite channel. Wanted to play that song for 15 years, finally learning it. Your videos helped a lot with this. Thanks mate.
Can you teach "Goodbye Angels" by the red hot chili peppers ! (: please (:
Man keep doing what you're doing! I love how you actually breakdown the pieces and play the sections more than once, I've been wanting to learn this one since I started playing, thanks!
Thanks man haha loved the "here we go" gibberish made me giggle.
Thank you so much more full song is what I need I wish I was good enough to do it myself but it's fun with you. Stay awesome and stay teaching, thank you so much.
Good shit, Marty!
I really appreciate that !
Lol
So stoked , John Frusciante is BACK to RHCP... Legend
Saroj Bhandari same
Give him a few months. He'll be out again and they'll find someone else. It's a cycle.
I'll miss Josh so much.
GitarStu you wish
I was trying to learn this song many times with no luck, until I enrolled Marty's uncaged system, which helped to get more comfortable with all this weird kind of chords.
Thanks Marty for publishing such a good tutorials and for your uncaged course!
Great lesson Marty! I would really like to see some more Gary Clark Jr., like When My Train Pulls In, also Ball & Biscuit by Jack White and more Black Keys, that kind of heavy blues, primal guitar sound. That sound and feel is just so awesome and plain fun to play. Any of their stuff or other artists in that style is great. Could you take us further into that type of playing? That down and dirty blues/rock just gets to my soul, please consider this Marty. You did some of this years ago and no one else seems to teach it better. Thank you, sir, your teaching has helped me big time.
I third that!! Thanks for everything, Marty
Ball and biscuit is the white stripes, not jack white
and guess who jack white is....the guitarist and vocals of the White Stripes
Hey Mr. Marty. When I started playing guitar I used to come a lot to this channel to learn new songs and stuff. It's good to see that the channel still has the same quality as it did before! Congratulations, man!
Great lesson dude. I think you hit the sweet spot where you don’t show too much detail like you would for super beginners. For most even a good look at the chords is enough
HARDEST SONG YOU'VE TAUGHT ME MARTY I JUST HAD A MUSICAL GROWTH SPERT LOL
Very good Nate!!!
I've been learning from you since before I knew my basic chords! We've come a long ways!
Amazing lesson. I appreciate the time you take to make these!
this was awesome lecture Marty! Thanks
Love you man. You and David Gilmour are the reason I play guitar. I self taught myself for 3.5 years. And now I've played as a lead guitarist for my school band twice. All thanks to you!
Your lessons are incredible. And you are awesome. :')
Thank you very much Deepan!!!
You serve the Guitar community. Haha!
I play this method on my accoustic. Its made my fingers stronger. Your lesson's are amazing
I love Frusicante and his way of playing guitar. Like he is on the playground and giving me a different approach to cords, rhythm and melodies 🙏🏻
Underrated
Thanks for this classic song from RHCP. Big fan of this band and big fan of you from many years by the way ;) keep going like this Marty, you're awesome !
Thank you Marty! I always find myself coming back to your channel because you have THE BEST tutorials. I’m still learning and absolutely love attempting anything by RHCP, even though it’s ridiculously hard due to Frusciante’s amazing skill. Currently having a hand cramp right now, but I’m gonna keep practicing:)
One of the best songs ever written and recorded in my opinion. 🤘🏽 Awesome lesson Marty! I love RHCP
Marty! Excellent lesson as always! Which amp you're using? I just love that moist clean sound. Or you have a pedal?
Thank you so much for this vide Marty. My playing is getting better everyday. I play a 96' Squier strat with Tonerider Classic Blues pickups. I run it through a Vox AC4TV and have a Boss DS-2. Suprisingly, I can get an awesome Frusciante tone :-D
How do you like that AC4TV? I'm thinking about getting one
Marty is awesome. He's got so much content I don't think, at 38, I have enough time left in my life to learn all of this!!!
I *love* that you left all the flubby gibberish in after 1:00! haha Obviously we all figured out what you meant, so that editorial choice was absolutely perfect.
And if you're reading, I'm very grateful for this very accurate lesson!
I've been playing guitar for 3 months now and I know this fully! Everyone practice! You can do it!
One of the best lessons on the Tube!! Mucho Gracias dude 🤘🏻
I LOVE YOU FOR THIS lol can you please do "Brendan's Death Song"???
Thanks Patrick!
really glad you play it first for quick learners to check it out. as well as you play the riff over and over to play along with. Drives me crazy when people are teaching how to play guitar at the same time they are teaching a song which makes their videos 20 min long for an intro
my hand hurts like hell after practicing this song for 2,5 hours but this lesson was amazing! thanks marty, another amazing song learned!
I love all this guy's lessons! Learned a lot!
I love every one of your teachings and am very greatful you've taught me how to play everything right to this point but the way john plays it is so much easier on the wrist and the hammer on pull offs become a lot easier as well ill be learning it johns way.
I requested this a couple months ago! Thanks Marty! ROCK ON
just learned the intro, now working at the rest. thanks Marty!
Max makes MLG GAMEPLAY How is it going Budd?
Spectacular lesson. This is very helpful because I'm trying to up my game in guitar-man-ship. These little Frusciante tricks are gonna be super useful.
If you check out John's 'private GW magazine lesson' here on youtube, you can see that he doesn't do that pinky slide, he hammers from his ring finger to his pinky before moving his ring down to the d string. i'm not saying one is right or wrong, just wanted to point out how john seems to do it, and throw it out there as an alternate way of fingering that part. cheers marty, as a 40 year guitarist i always learn a ton from your lessons.
Thank you for another great tutorial, been playing for about 7 months now and you have been teaching me the entire time! You are the best teacher there is on here and I can’t thank you enough!!!
Marty, you are the only teacher I can learn from. You break each song down perfectly. Thank you soo much! You rock!!
I’m amazed by Marty’s patience, especially to a camera!
With the outro part i love putting on my chorus effect and making it sound just like the way John Frusciante plays it. so cool.
Great vid!! Really helped! The only thing it’s missing is time stamps in the description.
Marty you have taught me everything I know! Ive been playing for over 3 years now and I love everyone of your videos. Keep it up legend
I've honestly been watching you since 5th grade. I start my senior year of high school next week. Thanks for everything Marty.
I absolutely love that riff in the middle
There are others, but nobody teaches in Lamen's Terms like you Marty!! You make it fun an easy to learn some of these tougher ones...Thanks!
Hey Marty. Thanks for teaching me this and so many songs. Been following you for years now. Glad to see you still teaching music. Cheers
Great lesson great song and great channel Marty!
My man just want to say your lessons are easily the best! Thank you and please please please never stop👍🏾
I did play alot in school but didnt follow through.Ive picked it back up and u r helping me get it going agian! I really thank u for your detailed instr. GREAT VID BRO!!! THANKS AGAIN!!!
for all of you having troube using the B in the chorus (14th fret) use a D figure on the 11th fret (first 3 strings)
Thanks! It's just impossible on my acoustic guitar which has no cut a way
I have been trying the crazy chord on the acoustic. Cheers for this.
Darn Marty you gathered in a large bloody following and it only feels like a month since you started! Love it!
Hi Martyn! Could you teach us the son 74 75 of THE CONNELLS?? Thank you and is a pleasure having a teacher like you. :)
beautiful lesson Marty, always a pleasure!
Hey Marty, i've been following you since 2k12. And improving so much cuz of you ! Keep going, ur new channel is awesome.
Buddy loved this lesson I learnt parts of it 20 years ago but not all of it until now! Thank you so much
Thank you Marty! You've got that Fender sounding identical. OUTSTANDING lesson!
thanks man, greetings from Uruguay. You've been my best teacher so far!!! All my good energy to you my friend!
what a great lesson, you don't know how much this and other lessons of yours have helped me, thank you.
Cool tutorial, love this song and my mission is to be able to play it faultlessly all the way through... I'm getting there :)
I watched this about 3 months ago and have been practicing EVERY night after work I can ALMOOOOST play it lol
Final learnt this song , time to master it , thankyou I appreciate it a lot as I am doing this piece for my music GCSE in the UK
I just want to say thank you for your lessons. You are such a great instructor and very dedicated to your work and I just wanted to tell you that I'm grateful to you because my playing has been improving a lot! Great video one of my favorite songs!
I have finished the 1 day long journey for this song and I am very happy because now I can play whole song and I love it! ❤️
( Sorry for English and have great day everyone ❤️)
Awesome! Ive always wanted to learn this song Thanks Marty for all you do!!!
Mister Marty, Thank You Very Much! Estou aprendendo com suas aulas! I from Brasil!
Awesome lesson! One of the greatest guitar songs of all time, broken down so its playable. Keep up the good work.
You can really tell your improvement as a teacher in this video in particular. Great lesson Sir!
Thank you Marty. You are the reason I can play Little Wing...well almost, Did you ever get around to showing us the solo at the end? That would be an awesome vid if you haven't already put it up somewhere.
I have to say, your tutorials are quite amazing. Thanks for being awesome. 🤘
I appreciate that!
Hi,
You are he best guitar teacher ever!
Thanks for everything!
1:53 made my day.
Greetings from Europe Marty!
Marty, you're a star! Thanks for your lessons. Really enjoying them! Thanks man!!!!!
This was awesome man! Great break down on the often neglected ending!
Been watching your videos (and no one else’s) for almost 10 years. You sound exactly like frusciante on this man!
Excellent lesson Marty! Very well presented, easy to follow. Thanks!
Marty you are GREAT! You deserve all the success you get! Greetings from italian in Shanghai!
The part where you would sing the chord names to the melody of under the bridge has got to be my favourite part.. I love when you do those! 😂
Man, let me start by saying, you are not only an amazing guitar player, but an awesome and patient instructor. I was wondering if you have ever done a video on Blake Shelton's first number one hit Austin?
Thanks for the video. In the chorus I had been playing the E shaped B, right there with the A shaped E. From this video I tried the A shaped B on the 14th and 16th and that sounds a lot better. Then I tried the D shaped B right there with the F#m. That sounds even better and is easier than going all the way to 14th and 16th. And looking at the video of Frusciante playing it, I see that's how he does it.
so clean and crystalline
Thanks for supporting me here Tiago!
Where is the intro?
Amazing tutorial! This is my second one from Marty, I learned jack and Diane first. For the RUclips/internet “self taught” guitarist like me, this is perfect.
loving the new channellearning heaps from you cheers!!!
Every video is great! I always look forward to the new vids -- Love your channel Marty
really enjoyed this one marty, it think this my favourite tutorial from you so far. i have a request which im sure youve not covered already, another RHCP, my friend. keep it up!
Brilliant! Thanks for all your videos Marty! You are a healer
