- We are putting our healthcare professionals who are on the frontlines of this coronavirus pandemic at serious risk when we send them out without proper personal protective equipment. As my colleagues and I continue to treat patients we are running critically low on N95 masks. I am no Mr. Beast, but I decided to personally take $50,000 and buy as many masks as I could and donate them to our struggling healthcare system. CONTINUE READING!

It’s such a sad world, my local hardware store donated their entire supply of these masks to our main hospital.
When the virus began in my country, my government immediately stopped selling masks to locals almost immediately.
Well many did say our country was "panicky, overdoing stuff" but apparently that was the best decision ever. There are very few hoggers.

@@lc4life369 as Dr. Mike said in the video @1:15 N95 masks aren't only used by medical professionals, they are used by painters and builders. So it makes sense to allow others to buy these masks prior to the outbreak.
@@lc4life369 These are the masks used by painters and carpenters so they don't breath in fumes, sawdust, fiberglass, or asbestos. They sell them anywhere they sell building supplies. That's why they aren't just set aside for medical staff.
A lot of the masks everywhere around the world were bought up by Chinese resellers en masse early on. Many companies with ties to China were also hired by the CCP to stop all operations and buy up masks, hand sanitizers etc to send it all back to China. We had the same happen here in Japan before masks disappeared completely. Taiwan was one of the few countries that blocked all export of masks very early on so they don't have as big a shortage now.

MITS Koala Oh no I agree with you. I was a painter for a little bit and we would go through these things like candy, to see a 20 pack of masks go for almost 400 dollars is shocking.
What's crazy is the price gouging, $7.50/mask is insane and considering that different states are bidding against each other for this masks is even harder to watch, let alone comprehend.

Why aren’t u wearing a mask? Why isn’t Dr.Aarti wearing a mask. Glass/Plastic face Shields with air holes in the bottom are the best; better than any mask.
@@nadiashireensiddiqi no you can't. It requires a very specific filtering material that goes down to .3 microns. Anything home-made isn't really going to filter out anything other than some droplets from a cough or a sneeze and even that is a big maybe.

But people are dissing on them because they are in isolation in their larger than necessary homes. We are all supposed to be practicing isolation as much as possible. My parents are both doctors, and around 100 masks were *stolen* from their hospital. There is an acute shortage of masks at their hospital, which puts them at risk.
Really appreciate Dr. Mike for doing this.
My mum's good friend is a nurse in charge of a home care unit, so their office is not in the hospital, all their supplies and everything are there. Someone stole HUNDREDS of masks from their supplies, so now they have none left. Now they have to lock up everything & even if a nurse just needs to get gauze for their kit, the manager has to sign out every single bit. It really hurts how this pandemic has brought out dishonesty and criminal activity of those who just want to take advantage of others. 😓

As a truck driver with a company that has I large account with GE, I've been picking up masks and ventilators and with the suspension of the federal hours of service laws I've been driving 20 hours all the way thru to deliveries all over the east coast! We are doing our absolute best to keep you stocked up! We also haul alot of toilet paper and water bottles for big lots and proctor and Gamble to Sam's clubs and Costco's! So stay healthy my friend we are bringing these supplies as fast as we can!

The healthcare class in my school donated a bunch of health care supplies to our local hospitals. More schools should do that.
Very high production values, I can really see how big the mask supply shortage issue is, you've been through a lot and still manage to keep calm throughout the frustration, it is really good that you made this video explaining what happened
This is just nuts!! I added N95 masks to my home emergency kit 5 years ago when there were no shortages. I paid about 60 cents each for a box of 20.
I paid $16 for a box of 20 at home depot last summer.
My dad bought some during swine flu outbreak, and around 10 of those were sealed pack and kept at my home. We didn't buy new ones, we are using those...
I'm in that position with N95 respirators, surgical masks, and nitrile exam gloves (and lots of other stuff that isn't useful to people on the front lines of a viral pandemic). These are just things I keep in stock in my home for various reasons. When I heard of the shortage, I gave all but 20 respirators and all but 100 gloves to a friend who's an EMT. Shared the surgical masks with a few non-medical friends. We're all in this together! We should all do everything we can to keep our medical personnel safe.

to be fair, it does cost money, however, i think normies like us should not be able to buy medical supplies in large amounts, not saying at all because they do serve purposes when insurance won't cover extras for people's medical needs or if you need to do something that requires medical supplies. In fact many companies actually will not sell medical supplies unless you have a kind of medical business license.
@@thunderlifestudios I agree but I'm not referring only to this case. I'm talking about pharmacies raising the price of alcohol and supermarkets raising meat's prices. I mean that there's a lot of people who are taking advantage of this whole situation.
@@gaby5254 i get you now, i agree too, i mean economically it makes sense but so immediately maybe not but then again a shortage in one state results in reduced potential product within other places which would increase logistical cost and reduce supply because of spreading stock to more places than normal, I mean a store having 100 stock of an item then needing to drive half it to another store and so suddenly to keep up with supply demand (not to mention the delay) would adds to the cost making the supply chain coat more, those items likely do not have a large margin for price raising and increased prices could actually facilitate supply control to go to those who actually need it (it deters bulk purchases and makes up for the increased coat of supplying stock).
@@thunderlifestudios I just think we're not there yet at least not in my country and I'm seeing a lot of overcharging. I get that eventually the costs will rise because of the disruptions in the supply chain but I think a lot of business are just getting advantage of people's state of mind.

Nurses and Doctors are getting Appreciated Everywhere.But No One is Talking About Medical Lab Techs that are doing regular testing in these Covid-19 times.
I mean, there are plenty of people who aren't getting recognized. They don't all get mentioned because it would be impossible to mention every type of job thats helping. What about the janitors in the hospitals? Or the maintenance teams who are building testing sites or specialized rooms in hospitals? And the tech help that keeps the machines and systems running?

@@JJ-iu5hl i think this person's intent isn't that appreciation for doctors and nurses should be rescinded and redirected to lab techs, but that lab techs and other people in general should be given more appreciation. It might be hard or even futile to mention everyone, but it's not as hard to agree with this person's sentiment, be more on the look out for thank-worthy acts and just show more appreciation all around

In Romania they confiscated all masks and hand sanitizer from those who hoarded them in massive amounts in hopes of turning a profit , oh and they got a fine too I hear. My country does a lot of screw ups but man, this was a good move.

The people who are selling this for extremely high prices are the scum of the earth. Some of these people are being arrested.
You need to do something to prevent supplies drying up for everyone.
There's the argument that raising prices lowers demand, so only those that "need" the thing most will buy it.
Obviously that doesn't perfectly apply, but simply calling prices rising in periods of scarcity like you are is even farther from truth.
