We bring you an underground Air-Raid Shelter that we excavated ....IN SHOEBURYNESS.
The ARS had not been visited since cc1970, and even then it may have just been used as a rubbish chute ...its occupants were at the time non the wiser..
This is an insanely rare find with many local disbelievers that any sub terrain WW2 structure could have existed in this area nor survived.
it's a great pleasure to show you what we found.
We were thrilled once we had managed to peak in with our flash lights.. !!

A big thankyou also goes to the landowner for approving out explore, the excavation and allowing us to release the footage and photographs.
The location is somewhere in Shoeburyness.. but we WONT GIVE OUT THE EXACT LOCATION - To protect it and to keep our agreement with the land owner 👍👍

Been looking at this all day! Wow folks what a find. I'll say it again, stuff like this proves that exploring can still lead to true discovery even in the 21st century urban context. Should be very proud of yourselves, you've added something new to Shoeburyness' history :)

That's amazing, fellas, well done. I'm not far from Shoebury, and I still remember there was an underground bunker at Belfairs park, just behind the play area that lies next to the 'pitch and put'. When I was still a kid, I guess it was decommissioned, and they dumped a large mound of earth on top of the entrance hatch. You can still see the huge mound behind the play area, and now there's a basketball court next to it. A few years ago, I tried to find information about it online, and found a site saying it was part of the nuclear early-warning system. I can't find anything on it today though, and I am starting to think I just imagined it all! I'd love to dig that earth away and see what I find.

@@DE-eVOLVED I'm not sure what the council/police would say if I started digging up that mound! It is a really big pile, but I do suspect that if I dig in the middle of it, I'll reach the old hatch quicker. It's in a place which is constantly visited by people in the day (families), so I know my digging would not go unnoticed (unless I did it at night....)
I really sympathized with your video as I saw you guys are roughly my age in the Echo (that's how I got here), and I have always wanted to prove (to myself) that there really is a nuclear bunker down there which was once part of the early warning system. Nice one for proving to everyone that the underground shelter of Shoebury was NOT just an urban myth.

I live on the other side of the bridge that you was walking over at the end of the video walking above the train tracks if I am not mistaken. If so I think I know where that manhole is...
Just moved to Shoeburyness in December and love the history surrounding this place. If there is anything else in shoeburyness you find I would love to come and see it with you guys or even just watch the video.
Either way keep up the good work exploring I would just say that some of the editing in the new videos is a bit over the top. Keeping to simple edits like this video is much more pleasant to watch.

Oh my God, I was looking for this for so long. I went in the tunnels in Priory Park a few years back now which are very similar to this. Love exploring things like this. If you ever wanna meet up and do a collaboration would be good got a good place in mind at the moment

Whilst listening to BBCEssex a couple of days ago I caught a snippet from a gentleman who had found an underground retreat in Shoeburyness.
He assumed it was an air raid shelter which may in fact be the case.
However, it is possible that it is an perations ase made by a secret branch of the Home Guard known as "Auxiliary units" or "The ritish esistance rganisation".
There is an amazing museum at Parham in Suffolk where there is now a building dedicated to the . I was privileged to be at the official opening of this extension to the museum as my father was in the in Terling.
If the place in Shoeburyness is found to be an OB I would love to hear about it and so would the volunteers at the dedicated museum.

Apparently there are lots of tunnels underground from the old Runwell Hospital to Runwell Church.
Man u need to come Rainham I can show u 3 ww2 tunnels I started to exavate but got scared and left them pill box turrets buried everywhere and even bombed building reminance with loads of pottery all dated

Incredible find. You don't appear to be using any confined spaces procedures, I'm concerned for the people who'd have to retrieve you if you suffered gas inhalation. Are you following recognised archeological protocols?
The area was well ventilated for entry ..a small area and gas checks were fine 👍 thanks for your concern though 👌 we are glad you enjoyed the footage...
