@@ThatGuyGabeToo There are many instances where items and elements from the gay scene, or the kink scene or any other scene, lifestyle, culture or religion become commonly used within alternative fashion for their aesthetic value and mostly (if not completely) lose their original meaning when used in the context of alternative fashion. Hi! I just wanted to ask what size you got the chunky chains in to make your necklaces, because I looked at the Michaels' website and can't tell how big they are by mm. I love big chunky collars and necklaces as well and have been wanting bigger chains and clasps for my clumsy hands.
i've always been interested in alt fashion in general, but only in last couple years have been purposely trying to dress more punk/grunge/alt and diy stuff, also been trying to make my own battle/patch jacket and it's going along slowly(very slowly), but surely:D
@@mansikkapoika yes!! i think with the rise in popularity of online shopping a lot of the essence of DIY has gotten lost with people who may be new to the community but i really hope they eventually learn that its way cooler and more fun to make things on your own or thrift stuff
@@chuckyDLuffy and on top of that it's usually cheaper and way better for the environment than fast fashion/online shopping! It makes me happy to see that thrifting, recycling and modifying your own clothes has become more common/popular again c:
I've been doing the whole mixed aesthetics thing for a long time now and it's so much fun to switch between full on goth and rainbow the next day when I feel like it. I also have some in-between styles. Definitely not a thing I just did overnight and I don't call my style anything particular either.
Meanwhile, I've had a dark style since high school and I'm incorporating more colorful things lately lol I kinda envy people who have a very stable and defined personal style, but I'm enjoying the little journey until I find mine ❤
The punk blazer is honestly my favorite. I've dabbled in punk aesthetic for a while but demin & leather can often give me sensory issues, but I *adore* my blazers. I never thought to combine the two by I'm definitely going to work on a "battle blazer" soon!
I've done the long insert sleeves trick with several sweatshirts and hoodies and they always look more cute and fun afterward almost without fail. Those long baggy sleeves make you feel like you've stolen the garment of your parent, or older sibling, or significant other. It's very playful and comforting.
I found a bunch of antique military buttons in my grandmother's button box this year and found others just like them for sale online. Even if the buttons from your blazer aren't antique, I wouldn't be surprised if someone would want them.
I love your take on darker style, it's so unique and different from the typical whirl/goth we see these days (which is also cute) Btw, nail polish is a great paint to use on metal. I use that to cover up jean buttons and studs all the time and it works great! I find that sanding the metal down with a nail file first and finishing with a clear top coat makes it last very long without needing a touch up.
I always hear about people using nail polish with success but I think the climate here must get too hot or something because whenever I used it growing up eventually the nail polish would turn sticky?
@@TheStitchess I know for nails it's better to let each coat dry very long like 30 mins between coats and do super thin layers or it'll for sure get sticky. You can also dip the polished item in ice cold water once it's set, it helps the varnish dry smoother. I think it would work just the same on metal, but I can't speak from experience as I live in Canada where heat is an issue for only 3 months ❄️
Nail polish itself goes off and becomes sticky and gloopy, once that happens it never really dries properly when you use it and needs to be binned. Not sure if that's what you meant about it getting sticky. Also I heard you can keep your nail polish in the fridge to make it last longer but I haven't tried that.
I love how your personal style shines through with all the pastels and cute details! As I have been dressing in dark/alternative clothes since forever, I have some tips for people wanting to try it out: - Don't be afraid to pair different shades of black. Many thrifted clothes are washed out, but pairing them can really look great - the grunge look never dies. Alternatively: Bleach or dye them - build your wardrobe slowly. I gradually have been building my wardrobe for 10 years now. Since black works with everything, just use what you have until you have enough pieces to achieve your desired darkness. Don't rush :) - many black shirts with a print on them should not be ironed, since the print will start to crackle! - Leggings are amazing. Wear them under ripped jeans when it's cold, wear them with oversized shirts (that now look like tshirt dresses!), Wear them just as a more comfortable and durable substitute to tights. - Try to find not only basics, but also weird looking pieces that are interesting to look at. Patched up pants with pops of color, Colorblocking pieces, asymmetrical shirts, dresses that can be layered upon. When thrifting, try weird shit on, i often bought things that I originally did not like, but ended up LOVING, because it just worked with other pieces. - Juxtaposition looks SO good. I love to pair business wear like white buttonups with dark punk style. - Layering is everything - honestly, learn how to repair holes in your shirts and trousers. On black clothes, the stitching won't be visible at all. - aaand: Thrift your clothes, Upcycle them, DIY as much as you can. Old clothes last longer, you can repair nice pieces by sewing or patching them up. It looks more interesting and personalized. New stuff from fast fashion brands is often that low quality that you can't even repair it because the fabric is so thin.
I LOVE this!! I primarily dress in fairy kei but there’s a bunch of other styles I want to start dressing in (grunge and pastel goth being a couple of them). This was such a great guide on how to put together a new wardrobe, how to make unique pieces, and also it’s just really cool to see someone bring new life into basic clothes! This inspires me to go work on getting my capsule wardrobes together.
i’ve been resisting the pull of darker alt fashion in favor of building my sweet/pastel wardrobe, but the other day i saw a pair of black shoes that made me think “i’m ready” and then this video popped up. fate lol
You have the best how-to-make-a-wardrobe videos I've found! I don't dress much at all like you, but your videos on building wardrobes and thinking about fashion are so clear, and applicable to so many styles. Anyway, I always learn something when you post a video, and I'm so excited to see this!
I feel like this came out at the perfect time for me because I'm in the middle of my own style evolution right now! Mostly it's been involving me trying not to go on ridiculous shopping sprees (especially since I recently got a new job and having more money makes me want to spend it), but you definitely gave me some great DIY ideas!
Pro tip if you want an awesome pair of black baggy cargo pants buy used camis (or reallly any military trousers) and dye them. It works really well. I felt really good not having to toss/donate any of my ABUs or my husbands' OCPs
I love this! I’ve found myself moving toward a darker color palette lately and wanting to incorporate more alternative elements like I used to wear, so this is very helpful. Also your hair is SO freaking cute!
My break the rainbow phase I was going for 2 years with a piece of black ended up switching everything to return to my lazy goth days ahhaah The jacket looks fun... especially for asking for a shoulder massage. I loved those lavender shoes transformation

You should try a leather dye for the zipper next time. I've done it on a couple bags and it seems to hold up well, especially on the sides of the zipper.
Thank you so so much for this video. I've been trying to find more alternative diys or ideas on both YT and Pinterest. It seems like for people who actually want to make their own custom alt clothing, the idea barrel has run dry and it's the same old same old. This has given me a ton of ideas! We love to see a fashion queen with DIY skills 🙌 living for the cute/alt moment you're creating 💖 thanks for sharing your crafting in a really easy format! 💞
I love how you're kinda doing the opposite of me. I currently still dress in different versions of goth but I've really been wanting to get into some softer looks, I've really been wanting to try out lolita, and maybe some fairy kei
such a fun wardrobe refresh! and lots of inspo to be found; you've reminded me that i want to turn a pink denim jacket i have into a disney inspired punk-style jacket covered in patches and pins.
I just did a massive wardrobe cleanout. This is the first time I have really thought about what I like to wear and need in my wadrobe since middle school. My body and taste have changed so much in 10 years. I like bold colors and prints in tops, dresses, and skirts. I prefer neutral bottoms and basic tops. I like to layer a lot. I have been terrible about planning basics in the past. I get not fitting into one style. Some days I want to be very femine, but others I want to look like a 2000s middle school skater boy. I'm trying to keep my closet on the small side, pick natural fibers, and resist impulse decisions. I am all into 2nd hand shopping too. I'm not an alternative style person, but your videos are so applicable to anyone building/revamping a wardrobe.
It's amazing how a few small changes can make such a big impact. I'll have to look at some of my unused items with new eyes and see how I can refresh them.
In high school I had a punk blazer from a thrifted red tartan blazer. Last week I started a new one using an air force jacket I found for a few dollars and I am obsessed.
This is such a well-made video. DIY, lookbook/outfits, explanations, all very detailed, creative and understandable? But also fun to watch? hope this trends, because the work you put into this video is incredible. More people should see this video. Thank you for sharing!
I LOVE these androgynous punky, gothy, cute looks you've crafted! I'm working on balancing masc and femme and spooky, preppy, and sweet elements in my outfits and wardrobe, too, so thank you for the inspiration and ideas! Love your wardrobe. :)
Absolutely love how you modified the shirts and the blazer, especially! I have a black denim jacket with a collection of enamel pins and badges on it, but I've been too lazy to add anything else, lol. It's absolutely one of my wardrobe staples in cool weather, though. Congrats on 100k! You deserve it for your excellent content!
Im so amazed by methodical you are with all the planning. I really want to make an overview of all my clothing items because I think it'll be so helpful but I keep putting it of since it'll be so much work especially since my wardrobe is split over two houses
hii, so i just found this video after more than 2 years and as a person interested in alt fashion myself, i'm literally obsessed with some of your outfits! i love the way you upcycled the clothes and styled them together. 💕 also gotta appreciate that jazmin bean patch! i absolutely love their music and they're honestly so underrated. 😭
I have several categories in my wardrobe. My Staples of clothing is a collared shirt with dress pants or jeans and leather shoes. The leather shoes work well with my more Gothic/dark academia outfits as well.
I love this video! I currently wear a lot of alt fashion, I lean very heavily punk/scene/emo most of the time but recently have been introducing more modern alt stuff to my wardrobe. I recently made a bunny hood/hat and it’s one of my newest fave accessories. A suggestion I would give, get a bag of those giant safety pins. They are SUPER useful. You can use them to temporarily change the shape of a garment, use them as chain clasps for neck or waist chains, used them to decorate your clothes and bags, and even make them into necklaces and earrings on their own. I use them so often that I actually need to get a new bag because I leave them in my clothes permanently lol. And for the patch jacket, it’s always better to use a thick thread to attach them. A lot of punks actually use literal floss, like the stuff you use in your teeth, because it doesn’t break easily. It just helps with their longevity.
Your mash of different styles in one outfit makes me so happy- I love how well all the elements work together and how creative you got with your home made designs :)
i guess u could say i have an 'alt' wardrobe, i really enjoyed these type of clothes and... i can fully relate to the oversized shirt plus plaid skirt combo hahah and the punk blazer turned out so pretty, i loved it so muchhhh 😍😍😍 u sure have a lot of talent
My way of building my alt wardrobe is just going to charity shops (thrift stores) a lot and getting something when it catches my eye, and occasionally DIYing something. It's slow but very easy XD
It's so funny I'm seeing this video now, I've been strictly pink for a couple of years now but I'm starting to want to incorporate some black elements to my wardrobe to embrace my dark side! 🩷🖤🩷 Great video, explanations!
This is soooo helpful! Thank you!!!! I've always loved to have an alt fashion wardrobe so I've been recklessly buying stuff online in the past, but now I can make things more organized so I know what the hell I'm doing
I've been playing around with alternative fashion for about three years now (I'm fifteen) and seeing this really helped me get inspired to work on my wardrobe! It also helped me finally sort of realize what my aesthetic is, so thank you! All this time I've been confused because my aesthetic doesn't have a certain "Label" to it, but yours doesn't either, so in a weird way it helped me realize that I don't have to fit into any category to dress the way I want. All the DIY clothes are SOOO cute too! Thank you for this!
29:55 if ur looking for a new product to paint metal and other hard surfaces with, I tend to use nail polish to paint metal and plastic alike. I repainted a pair of earrings of mine with some black dollar store nail polish, and then put a clear coat over it for good measure. I've been wearing said earrings in the shower for months now and the paint has held up, so it's fairly waterproof and resistant.
amazing video!!! it makes sense that it took a little longer, since there's so much information and so many DIYs in it! i think your videos are the best "wardrobe planning" type videos that i've come across, and i feel like the info and tipps you give on wardrobe planning and building outfits are always transferable to other styles. also i love the blazers!!! especially the purple one. the look with that and the gingham purple pants is: i am a goth teen but i have to look "professional" for an event. in a good way lol.
20 years ago I had the ‘contractually obligated Joy division shirt’ and a Love Will Tear us apart shirt that I upcycled into a tunic length, sleeveless ewrap top with a turquoise ribbon tie. It was cute AF!
As a punk i love to see what others make! Your jackets look amazing. I absolutly love your patches and it actully motivated me to start putting more patches on my pachtpants and batteljackets ^^
this is so inspiring! I love all of the outfits but especially #4 with the purple blazer-- I love the hoodie + blazer look, with the t shirt. Also something really clicked for me when you said that it looks like a haul, but it represents over a year of cultivating a wardrobe. A haul literally gives me a hit of dopamine, but there's something so satisfying about taking my time and then reflecting on how much can happen in one year... with a wardrobe or with anything else in life 💗💜🖤
This video is giving me so many ideas for things I can do over my university break in a few weeks. I'm super excited now that I know what I want to do with myself when I have such a long study break and not much else to do!

It seems like for people who actually want to make their own custom alt clothing, the idea barrel has run dry and it's the same old same old. This has given me a ton of ideas! I have a weird combination of clothing vibes; punk, gremlincore, and grandma, and sometimes it feels impossible to mesh them together lol
We love to see a fashion queen with DIY skills 🙌 living for the cute/alt moment you're creating 💖 thanks for sharing your crafting in a really easy format! 💞
I love the pearl wallet chain 💓 I've got a bunch of leftover pearls from my Halloween costume so I might do something like this myself :)
I love how you're kinda doing the opposite of me. I currently still dress in different versions of goth but I've really been wanting to get into some softer looks, I've really been wanting to try out lolita, and maybe some fairy kei
Me during COVID: regresses to sweatpants
The Stitches during COVID: creates and entire new sustainable wardrobe
I’m definitely going to rewatch this constantly
Love your new hair cut! Looks really good on you!
such a fun wardrobe refresh! and lots of inspo to be found; you've reminded me that i want to turn a pink denim jacket i have into a disney inspired punk-style jacket covered in patches and pins.
I love what you did with the black blazer. The final product looks amazing!
the diys are very inspiring (: a lot of love went into this vid!!
20:32 I LOVE THE BLAZER!!!!!!! it's so cool omggggg
Im so amazed by methodical you are with all the planning. I really want to make an overview of all my clothing items because I think it'll be so helpful but I keep putting it of since it'll be so much work especially since my wardrobe is split over two houses
I'm late to this video but I am obsessed with how the blazed turned out and had no idea how much I needed a punk blazer in my life.
hii, so i just found this video after more than 2 years and as a person interested in alt fashion myself, i'm literally obsessed with some of your outfits! i love the way you upcycled the clothes and styled them together. 💕 also gotta appreciate that jazmin bean patch! i absolutely love their music and they're honestly so underrated. 😭
I have several categories in my wardrobe. My Staples of clothing is a collared shirt with dress pants or jeans and leather shoes. The leather shoes work well with my more Gothic/dark academia outfits as well.
i adore the ad break cut. every time im so pleased
The amount of work, organization, creativity and skill required for this video blows my mind! New fan. ❤
Your mash of different styles in one outfit makes me so happy- I love how well all the elements work together and how creative you got with your home made designs :)
i was ABOUT to pull up pintrest and then you said “which is another reason for me to spent hours on pintrest” and i was like ah, they got me
Ok love the white fishnets over black tights!! This is really close to my personal style thanks for all the great tips!
The Patch Blazer is literally the coolest thing I’ve ever seen! This is a great video, and I love your awesome style!
i guess u could say i have an 'alt' wardrobe, i really enjoyed these type of clothes and... i can fully relate to the oversized shirt plus plaid skirt combo hahah
and the punk blazer turned out so pretty, i loved it so muchhhh 😍😍😍 u sure have a lot of talent
My way of building my alt wardrobe is just going to charity shops (thrift stores) a lot and getting something when it catches my eye, and occasionally DIYing something.
It's slow but very easy XD
OMG the outfits 😍😍😍😍
I'm always so impressed with the amount of care and effort you put into your projects, you rock!!
It's so funny I'm seeing this video now, I've been strictly pink for a couple of years now but I'm starting to want to incorporate some black elements to my wardrobe to embrace my dark side!
🩷🖤🩷
Great video, explanations!
This is soooo helpful! Thank you!!!!
I've always loved to have an alt fashion wardrobe so I've been recklessly buying stuff online in the past, but now I can make things more organized so I know what the hell I'm doing
So glad you aren’t giving up on your cute pastel style! It’s nice to have a variety of options to reflect different moods.
This is the most satisfying wardrobe planning video I have ever seen. Well done! It was well worth the wait.
Your videos always make me look at my wardrobe and see how I can wear things differently/actually wear some things that have just been sitting around!
Stitches rises from the abyss!! Missed u 💗
I switch between alt/egirl/darkwear and cottagecore/farmcore regularly, this is sooo helpful
I took a band shirt and gave it the extra long color block sleeves treatment thanks to this video. It was the refresh that shirt needed.
so happy to see you back:) and this hairstyle suits you so much omg
