Battle of Avdiivka - Animated Analysis

  • The city of Avdiivka in eastern Ukraine always had a little more war history than the other nearby towns. Without exaggeration, the battles of various intensities raged around it for 10 years. Located in the heart of the Donetsk Region to the northwest of Donetsk itself, it became a frontline city not in 2022 or 2023 with the full-scale invasion, but in 2014, when Russia just started its proxy war against Ukraine, often called War in Donbas. Despite the 4 months long occupation in 2014, subsequent liberation by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, and numerous attacks in 2017, Avdiivka remained under firm Ukrainian control, becoming an important outpost just on the outskirts of occupied Donetsk.

    It's interesting seeing how Russia has changed their tactics since Avdiivka, now most Russian vehicles have EW protection, collums are swapped for 2-4 vehicles, the use of motorbikes and cope cages increased. Now Russia is 9km from Pokrovsk because they've implemented lessons from their mistakes shown in this video. But man, seeing whole columns getting shredded is scary.

      Yeah but that doesn't mean Russia's new tactics are less costly......in many ways they are way more costly. For example since avdiivka Russia has been using more motorbikes and buggies like you say but these are unprotected from literally any fire and the losses they take from these attacks are insane. They still resort to around the clock meat wave attacks in the form of small groups of 5-10 infantry at a time trying to creep up on positions. This happens every hour and the media only talks about Russia's success......they don't note that 9 out of 10 of russian attacks get obliterated by drones, small arms and other various types of artillery.

      You typically arent going to see much that doesn't support the "UKRANSA!" narrative, Ive followed the war since it kicked off and noticed that even now the coverage is still slanted in UKR favor. RUS has stated that their MAIN objective is not the taking of territory but the destruction of UKR fighting ability, the slow and constant grind of machines and personnel is whats happening but all you hear about is UKR invading Kursk.

    • @brookwhiteman9810
      @brookwhiteman9810 22 часа назад +14

      Yes......they walked through the fields escaping......that's what retreating is. Ukraine was ordered to retreat, they didn't just decide to run for it at the last minute. The numbers that were confirmed is 150 men were casualties from the beginning of the retreat to the end. There is this idea that Ukraine leaves their men no option to retreat, the units in avdiivka were given a specific timeframe to retreat and 3rdAB was brought in to allow for other units to retreat. It didn't go perfectly to plan but the losses were minimal if you consider how many would have been captured if there was a complete encirclement. There was some large positions that got encircled and captured. The reason there isn't much coverage of the Ukrainian losses is because the losses were so insanely disproportionate from the beginning of the avdiivka offensive and Ukraine was so vastly outnumbered that Ukrainian losses were not a question on people's minds. The russian propagandist who revealed Russia's losses was killed the next day.

    The author watches a lot of Ukrainian propaganda. If he had reviewed Suvorov's battle when he took Izmail, he would have said that the Russians simply rushed in the hordes to the walls, and the Turks with the latest rifles, hid behind the walls built by the best engineers of the West and did not have time to fight them off, and the Turks had to take more advantageous positions inside the Izmail fortress and then they fought back there as harshly as possible, which affected the most enormous losses, which Suvorov made up for with newly mobilized Cossacks, and so the Russian Untermenschen (approved by hitler 👍) took Izmail.
    For some reason, the Russian army turned out to be stronger, one small socialist country, the DPRK, can supply the entire Russian army with shells, while the entire NATO bloc with the USA, Great Britain, France, Germany cannot supply shells to Ukraine .
    Some statements described by the author are refuted even by Western journalists who were physically in Avdiivka and showed how the Ukrainian army was fleeing uncontrollably from its positions, that the Ukrainian army had huge losses, there is also a video, where a bunch of wounded and killed Ukrainian fighters are lying around, there is a bunch of videos of captured Ukrainians, who, like the entire army of Paulus, for some reason were not executed, and of course no one will talk about these videos, because the Russians are not people , you know. But they do not show us this, because otherwise it will turn out that ... Oh, the Ukrainian army suffered a huge defeat, and not because “the Red Army men fled in hundreds to the machine guns in Stalingrad and the Germans ran out of ammunition.” Stop believing in Western propaganda.
    At the same time, where is the objectivity, it is shown how the Ukrainians repel unsuccessful attacks of the Russian army in detail, and even individual “victories”, but the failures of the Ukrainians are not shown, why did the Ukrainians retreat, how did such a breakthrough happen?
    "Retreated to stronger positions", "had to retreat". The only thing missing is news about the "bangs" that the Ukrainian military heard when the bombs landed, which did not bomb the retreating Ukrainian columns (which, by the way, is also a lie, there are geolocations of the strikes, anyone who followed the map knows this, the Ukrainians were unable to secretly bring out anything, everyone on the retreat road was bombed with everything possible, including the FPV drones of the Russian army) How did the breakthrough happen in this place, the Ukrainians have such modern (no) Bradley equipment? Who needs this objectivity.
    banderovites are executed in the same way as the Red Army executed SS soldiers on the spot, it is completely normal to kill Ukrainian fascists. If you've watched enough Ukrainian propagandists that the Russians are "fascists", you just need to look at the flag of the 114th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade and compare it with the flag that the Russians put on the Reichstag in 1945. The Red Army is the strongest of all, eternal glory to the soldiers of the Red Army who died in the war for the salvation of humanity!
    Fascism will be destroyed everywhere - in Ukraine (2014-20..), or in Germany (1933-1945), or in Poland (1926-1939), or in Latvia (1934-1940), or in Japan (1936-1945) and etc, it does not matter where it is, Socialism will defeat fascism everywhere, Lenin and communism will defeat, and the workers the whole world to free itself forever from the yoke, the eternal exploitation of capital, and in Russia too we will destroy capitalism!
    Russians will never surrender, the Red Army will always win!

    Listening to you, this battle is just a continuous failure of Russian, and continuous wins of Ukrainian (the part on the corridor is quite typical, the only thing you manage to say is that "its a trap, and people are dying, committing suicide on it", yet two minutes later you finally admit that " ho well it destroyed the Ukrainian equilibrium"). I really wonder how those Ukrainians then lost ?
    Ho no, actually i know "because they lacked supplies of westerns allies" and "because Russian sent wave of suicide troops (didn't manage to back that with a video tho).

    Its worth noting tho, that the Russian with even less vehicles, and even less artillery advantage (its estimated 1to 3 now comparing to 1 to 10 during end of 2023 are still pushing, and the Ukrainian are still going backward). Those human waves must be very strong

Kursk operation gained initial success because no one talked about it, but the offensive that cost Ukraine everything be told on TV, social networks and on congress of every nation Zelensky moved to already gave Russia enough information to counter it. Beside, they started too late, enough for Russia to fully applied defense-in-depth tactic. When the video starts with "... in 2014 when Russia just started its proxy war in Ukraine..." you know you have to take what comes next with a grain of salt.
    Channels like this one, Kings and Generals, etc. that purport to do battle analysis should leave out the propaganda as it would grant them more credibility.
    For those that are interested in the conflict as a whole I would refer you to Col. McGregor, Col. Wilkerson, Larry Johnson, Ray McGovern, Prof. Mearsheimer and many other regular guests of the Judge Napolitano's Judging Freedom show.

After the battle of Bahkmut Russia had to pause the progress to recuperate and consolidate forces, in contrast the siege of Avdiivka keeps with momentum hinting that the casualties of 1 of the sides are complete fabricated, either Russia lost less personnel that people speculated or Ukraine suffered much more that they portrayed it, either way you cannot scape of logical thought here

    Anybody that followed the battle in detail knows russia took heavy losses in the beginning of the battle but once russia broke thru the defensive lines the Ukrainens got wrecked afterwards . The russians didnt have a choice but use brute force to dislodge the Ukrainens out of there defensive positions . In war you have accept your going to take losses theres no such thing as a perfect victory. At the end of the day Ukraine lost the battle and payed a heavy price trying hold advika. To say Ukraine didnt take heavy losses is ludicrous. Ukraine thru everything they had to hold advika and still lost . Advika paved the way to prokrosk .

      There are tactics and strategies that have been in place for decades to minimize the expected losses during these sorts of operations however.
      Comparing Russia's performance in Ukraine so far to something like Desert Storm is such a vivid difference that it's hard to grasp for many.
      Russia theoretically has the same equipment and potential to replicate the advantages of the Coalition powers in the Gulf War, but don't due to misappropriation of resources and a clear lack of inter-service co-operation.
      Air power is held back to such a limited capacity due to Russia's inability to achieve air supremacy despite having the resources and equipment possible to do so.
      This is why I don't think Russia deserves the title of second 'greatest' power militarily, since it can't seem to provide any precedence to the claim.

    • @matthewvargas2264
      @matthewvargas2264 2 часа назад

      @@aussie870 camparing desert storm to Ukraine is like comparing apples and oranges. Huge difference between the two . Ukraine is a nato backed army . The iraqi army was a hyped up army by the west to make it seem like they defeated a great adversary but reality the iraqi army was complete garbage from the start. Without nato support and preporation the Ukrainen army would of suffered the same fate and that is the truth . Nato intelligence and satellites is the main reason why Ukraine knows when and where the russians are going to attack without it ukraine would be blind as a bat . There is many other things nato offers to ukraine aswell that you have to take into consideration. Without nato support the Ukrainen army would of been defeated very easily most likely within 6 months . So russian tactics and stragetys would of worked if nato never got involved. Its hard to defeat an enemy that can see your every move coming from miles away .
