I’ve listened to it on Spotify this morning and I agree with you about the vocals. Too forward, but I also dig it for the music and as a longtime Hendrix fan I enjoyed it, buying a CD. Thanks for your video review!

Hi great video. Totally agree about sound balance. With all the new technology available IE the Beatles new single. Surely it could have been a nicer balance. There are so many recordings of Jimi out there. Just waiting for a decent release. 1969 Albert Hall film. Berkeley 1st show 70. Sweden 67 and 69. San Diego 69 etc. Others needing a vinyl release. We can only hope. Thanks again

I got the record to hear Hendrix as a opening band. He is dedicating the songs till he finally realized the fans were not there for them and dedicated the last song to " us", might as well he said. It is not Jimi in control of the show and that made this purchase worth it.

I dont care its Jimi and I Love it, Mitch and Noel are killing it too. wow. I beg to differ, Jimi and the Band were NOT struggling to 'make it' in America, they were working towards being KNOWN, and much more exposure,as a Unit and that Happened quickly,as they did quit a few gigs on the west coast before moving on to NY and the east coast at large, DC,Miami, Charlotte NC,ect, ect. They werent stuggling theyd already made it,,they were working on being KNOWN more world wide/nation wide and all of that happened in '67

Just want to add if they only had 2 tracks to work with that means the vocal track was not able to be lowered because it was bussed into something else I am assuming they only used left right main out and mixed everything down for live so on the recording it doesn't sound like how you would think. You may need to listen to this pretty loud to get a better idea of how it would sound live, especially if there was only two tracks to work with

It was released last Friday in Australia but there seems to be a shortage, still waiting for product to get to local stores in Melbourne! Anyway, I have heard most of it on RUclips and agree about the prominent vocals but still excited about this release!

Sounds like the audience was there for headliners, I got this to have Jimi as an unknown. He allways has control but not here. He had just did a couple of shows opening for the Monkees, welcome to a big old dose of the 60's. I have lots of live Hendrix, but this one is hard to listen to, cring worthy in spots but hey... it is what it is, a piece of rock history.

    This is one man's opinion,
Jimmy Hendrix is is a cross ❌ 🤞 between being, a lyricall
Bob Dylan and One of the of the best guitar 🎸 players of all time

I listened to it on Apple Music and I really like the guitar work, but the vocals are indeed way too loud and distorted. It is a good documentation of the band at that time, but I prefer the studio versions (where it is available).

It's a soundboard recording, likely to Jimi's own machine. The soundboard focuses on what the audience hears. The instruments are already loud and the vocals need to be heard. Sound systems were still primitive.

I think the Monterrey Pop Festival concert is better. Hollywood Bowl, on the other hand, is more of an average concert like Miami 1968. €18 for the CD is steep. 10 or 12 € for this is fine. LP way too expensive. The Wind Cries Mary is bad vocally. What I don't understand is that the San Diego concert won't be released in its entirety. Stage's edition didn't sound bad at all. You have to collect songs from various publications. Winterland and Filmore East as well. Why are they cut for no reason? Spanish Castle Magic from the middle evening show at Winterland is only available on Maxisingle. Berkeley's first concert would also be worth an official release.

Jimi had only been singing for about 9 months at the time, he was learning as he went along. His guitar skills were way ahead of his vocals, sadly enough by 1970 , Jimi was gaining confidence in his vocal abilities, then he was taken from us. Jimi was such a creative musician vocals dont really matter, who listens to Hendrix for vocals anyway

Great early Hendrix . The recording is decent but lacks dynamic range but Hendrix's gear was holding up and no breakdowns He stayed in tune . Catfish Blues and wild thing are some of the best versions . This Catfish Blues seems better than BBC Sessions. The Like a rolling Stone version is pretty good . Album is for Hendrix fans and stoners . I did enjoy the Paris 67 more than this Hollywood Bowl.

This is an inferior recording ( sound wise) it's not good quality sound at all and Jimi would be pissed over this being released.
i would recommend many other live show with superiors sound quality.
Berkeley 2nd Show....Songs For Groovy Children: The Fillmore East Concerts,
The Jimi Hendrix Experience Live At Monterey. Live From .Winterland. 68 . Hendrix On The West are all excellent sound quality live Hendrix.

no need to hold up the LP throughout the video
no need to make long blah blah just say it's very bad,
not only the recording and mix but also jimi is not in tune
