Hi, here again Daniel from the channel Daniel and Vojta - CZ railway and welcome to the second part of our show Treasures of CSD. Today's episode will be about perhaps the most legendary and unique motor car, which is well known to people who do not know that much about the railway. And it was simply a motor car that surpassed its time for many decades. And yes ... as you probably already understand, today's episode will be about Slovenská Strella.
    (intro)
It all started when ČSD announced a competition for the delivery of an express car in 1933, and the company Ringhoffer-Tatra s.s. in Kopřivnice. And yes, even though it is called the Slovak Missile, it was made in the Czech Republic). This interesting aerodynamic car was created thanks to the world-famous designer Hans Ledwink and architect and designer Vladimír Grég. Two front driver's seats and an unconventional body shape, inside with kitchenette, toilet and comfortable upholstered seats. All this with a maximum speed of up to 130 km / h.
However, this unique car would not have come into being without the ingenious inventor Josef Sousedík, who came up with an original solution for mechanical power transmission. Later patented electromechanical transmission, known by the acronym Sousedík system. Slovak missiles were originally designed with two diesel engines, but their power was not sufficient, so the drive was changed to 2 gasoline six-cylinder with a total output of 330 hp.
Ringhoffer and Tatra s.s. In Kopřivnice, they handed over two motor cars M 290.001 and M 290.002 in 1936. And on July 13 of the same year, they were operated for the first time on the route Bratislava - Brno - Prague and vice versa under the name Slovenská strela. Both of these cars had their home station in the Bratislava depot.
The distance of 397 km / h between Prague and Bratislava was covered by the car in an incredible 4 hours and 51 minutes. But the net driving time of the Slovak missile was even 4 hours and 16 minutes. During tests on June 3, 1936, the M 290.002 reached a speed of 148 km / h and thus also broke its own speed record. Slovenské Strely ran for three years and then their operation was terminated in 1939 due to World War II.
They were returned to operation under the Prague Masarykovo depot only after 1945. Not only that
traffic between Prague and Bratislava was resumed, but they also traveled to Bavaria as a government
    trains within the Nuremberg trials
The M 290.001 car was definitively scrapped and parked in Šumperk in 1953 and by 7 years
later burned down for unexplained reasons. In 1960, the same year
burnt down the first car was decommissioned and the second car, ie M 290.002 specifically was
handed over to the Laško Museum.
Its original number was erroneously rewritten to M 290.001 and back to M in 1974
290.002 was rewritten only during its reconstruction.
And that brings us to 2018, when Slovenská Strela started after a long time
decades to reconstruct. Today, this legend has been completely reconstructed and
you can see it on special rides or in the Tatra Trucks Museum in Kopřivnice. 5. a
On May 6, 2022, after several decades and 3 years in repair shops, the first took place
    two rides for the public.
And that is the end of the story of the most legendary motor car in the Czech Republic and
    Slovakia ...
and here I will give you again Additional information:
    Power: 242 Kw
Engine: originally diesel, exchanged for petrol 2x T 67
    Fuel: Dynakol
    Power transmission: electromechanical (adjacent)

That would be all from today's video if you liked the video don't forget to like,
