Something similar happened to my son when he auditioned for another show. As soon as he started singing everybody else stopped what they were doing. The judge said, “Great voice but that’s not what we’re looking for.” It was obvious that they wanted a great story to sell. They’re obviously not looking for talent; they’re looking for product.

So for those that don’t know, which I was one that didn’t until my cousin auditioned for American idol, the singing competition shows have a sort of Quotas to fulfill.
So for sake of easy numbers to make the point, the show will need 10 pop singers, 10 country, 10 etc etc. if they already have 10 country singers they won’t take 11 no matter how good you are. I do think it’s dumb because it’s supposed to, at least in theory, give great singers the chance to be discovered but the reality is it gives certain undiscovered people the chance but depends on if you fit their quota or not at the right time.
He's by far the best country artist today. Him and Hunter Lott. Both great talents that write their own songs and music.

I made it to second audition for Americas Got Talent they only let us play 5 seconds because they had so many people. We didn't go beyond that but a guy in a celery suit who knew one song did. 😂
my friend told me the same thing a few years ago when he auditioned lol. They told him his story wasnt good enough after he made it to the audition right before the taped audition

It happened at so you think you can dance auditions. I was told that I wasn’t street enough because the theme of the year was stage vs street. I’m a hip hop dancer. The next year I came in looking street black hoodie black sweats and a ball cap but now I was to street. 🤔

Not necessarily sticking up for The Voice. Actually I love Luke Combs. I saw him live back when he was just getting going after Hurricane. But it’s their right to send you a letter saying they don’t want you on their show. As I do, you can disagree with their judgement but it’s solely their decision to keep him or let him go. How was this “exposing The Voice?”

Big mistake. The Voice and X Factor have not told the truth about certain things and there have been huge stars that have come out of the talent that have not made it on those shows. Be thankful because you would’ve been stuck in those awful contracts.

Has anyone actually made it off that show? Longevity wise i can only think of Kelly clarkson that might have been the other show too. I don’t know how it goes after a show like that they probably own a big piece of you after. There likely isn’t a lot of money left after a record label takes all your organs and guts out.
