An iPhone 17 Air with a standard and mini size would be perfect. My only advice would be to keep the dual camera setup, as the ultrawide on my 13 mini is extremely useful when taking photographs.
The single camera is the one thing that doesn’t make sense to me. Not when they’re pushing for everyone to start shooting spatial videos for the Vision (Pro), and literally rearranging the cameras on the regular iPhone to make it capable of shooting them.
Let's be honest here spacial videos will always be trash compared to VR180 videos which require two ultrawide cameras. Also their VR headset will never be a thing at that price.
It probably that the device is thin and they can't put a nice camera in the phone anyways. Also they need more space in the x y direction for the battery when the device is thin.

@brandonchutt312 Vision Pro is a developer toolkit, also introduced on the WWDC, so developers can work on their apps now, so when the Vision Air what is cheaper and have a few less features too will release.. but they can't give that cheaper device to the developers first, "here is half of the possible features, solve the missing fatures in your apps somehow.."

@@xXxM4nuxXx Apple actually missed out on this big time. If the iPhone SE 2 and 3 also comes in Plus versions looking exactly like the iPhone 7/8 Plus (16:9 1080p display especially) with all the iPhone 12/13 guts in them I'll buy one in a heartbeat instead of a USED 13 Pro.
With all the talk of apple intelligence, it could be that Apple is leaning more into machine learning like google did with their Pixel lineup for years with only one sensor, but depending on post processing and AI to do a lot of what 2 or 3 physical sensors would do. Just a thought..
iPhone SE pro mini Ultra
It would be great to have the SE have only 1 camera, it would be easy to promote the line up, SE have 1 camera, regular have 2 and pro have 3. It would be good for the average person to know which is which when it comes to seeing them and choose which phone they want.
I think Jon is correct in that it will be named iPhone Air however, I also believe this will be the new replacement for the “SE” and certainly wont cost more than the flagship ProMax.
I would think the phone labeled SE4 at 3:52 would be the new SE, no?
Don't forget iPhone SE with iPhone 16 chassis and notch from iPhone 14 is coming in 2025.
It could also be an Apple foldable (flip not fold) and that's why it needs to be so thin, because then when it gets folded it is still thin. Also explains the high price and low specs

I still remember the first time I upgraded. I jumped to a model that was 5 years newer and I couldn't really tell a difference in features or performance. I was expecting to be wowed.
I'd say that tech geeks notice a difference, but not the average user. Most people upgrade "just to say they did", or because someone suggested it unnecessarily.

I've been getting the Pro model ever since the 3rd lens was adopted, because I thought I'd want the versatility and power of _the most,_ but in reality, just one good camera would do me just fine. I'd likely shop this so-called _Air_ model.

According to 3:52 , the SE4 is out in early 2025 at $499. An SE certainly isn’t $1,299.
Weird part is with iPads the base model is the one that’s just called ‘iPad’ then it’s air and mini at mid range depending on the tasks you need to do, and the pro is obviously the pro.

I wouldn’t mind a little thicker phone if it had a smaller footprint overall. Like, make an iPhone 5 sized modern smartphone with no bezels at all. Could be 1,5 times thick as the current iphones but just make it small so it fits in jeans’ front pocket without a bulge again.

I wouldn’t mind this as a replacement for my SE 3. My battery health is 77% so it’s about time for a new phone.
It kinda makes sense. They are going to have the same tiers as the ipad has ipad->ipad air->ipad pro 11”/13”; iphone->iphone air->iphone pro/pro max. What doesn’t line up is that the “iphone air” has only one lens while the regular has two and also that there is nothing air about the ipad air, the pro is literally lighter and thinner. So i don’t know what the air branding means at this point.
How does it make sense when the “iPhone air” is more expensive than the iPhone pro series? It can’t be compared to the iPad lineup

These days, I don’t think people really care what kind of phone you have because they’re all covered in a case. Nothing beats the iPhone 4 launch. When I got that phone, everyone asked me about it. Not so much anymore.

My prediction is that Apple ain't gonna announce any iPhone SE this year (thought they might but won't matter) and next year they will announce this "iPhone Air" as the new iPhone SE. Let's see how this prediction stands. It doesn't make any sense at all for apple to go back from two cameras to one and spacing it any lower than the base iPhone. If, by any stretch, this does get into the iPhone lineup it'll only either be the new replacement for iPhone SE OR the fifth iPhone right next to standard, plus (or mini), Pro and Pro Max. Apple Could add another Ultra into the mix to even out both sides.

someone suggested this might be a folding iPhone, similar to the Galaxy Flip, however I think this is more believable. This might also be the "iPhone SE" that has been rumoured? The leaks suggest a frame similar to the iPhone 14 frame and a single camera, however that might just be the Air instead of a new SE?

The simplicity of having one camera, that does the job, but allows for a more comfortable day to day use as the phone will be light, is very appealing, as long as they bring 120 hz and the best chip, I’m in! My current 15pm 1tb is great but I don’t use all the camera features.

Still rocking my iPhone 13 mini 512GB. Also considering the Google Pixel 9 Pro it feels like Apple is selling us the exact same phone year after year with minimal upgrades, a week in and it feels like you have the same phone.
I agreed up until the ending price comment. I think apple very well may price this above the pro max if they pull off 5mm thickness. You mentioned the MacBook air’s launch - but its first gen was grossly expensive for what you got. Even look at Vision Pro; design and hardware are apple’s main focus for first gen, then cost cuts that can appeal to the masses come with second gen.

What if Apple reimagines the 3 camera lenses and turn them into one giant mechanical camera on the back? Like we used to have on compact cameras. Maybe not that big, and the mechanics would be hidden inside. But still, 1 lens with multiple optical zoom level? I‘m sold!

iPhone Air sounds so much more mid-range than iPhone 17 Slim, given their track record with iPad and MacBook Air, they made that word mid-range and it would make total sense

Never once in the history of my life, have I wanted a slimmer, thinner device, it always means less battery, and easier to break.
What we need is an iPhone that has a rubberized cover like the old Nextels You could drop them from a ladder without damaging it! We buy these expensive phones and put a cover on them immediately after opening. Make them durable from factory

I am an eager videographer and hence bought a 15+ which was under my budget , and I can’t tell how glad I am I didn’t go for the base 15 …..the battery on this thing is amazing!
The true reality is that people buy iPhones now only because they want one due to the hype , hence whether they want to utilise its features or not it doesn’t matter to them , hence most people buy the base 15, When ofc half of them would like to have a large display and battery!
