- *Click "Show more" below for lyrics* This song has been performed and recorded many times over the years by just about all the greats, but I feel that Kate's version is definitive; a perfect combination of singer and song. Judge for yourself! Recorded in 1959 for Tops Records. Enjoy!
LYRICS:
I'll be seeing you
In all the old familiar places
That this heart of mine embraces
All day through
In that small cafe
The park across the way
The children's carousel
The chestnut tree
The wishing well
I'll be seeing you
In every lovely summer's day
In every thing that's light and gay
I'll always think of you that way
I'll find you
In the morning sun
And when the night is new
I'll be looking at the moon
But I'll be seeing you!
2 years ago tomorrow lost my beautiful mother. Cared for her the last 2 1/2 years of her life. She loved dad and we’d listen to this beautiful song many days thinking of him. I feel so much of their love listening to this song. Forever grateful!
We don’t have the singers like this anymore
We have all forgotten what a beautiful female voice sounds like, Kate Smith is it!
True, we have and we shouldn't let it happen to the industry. The whole thing became overrun with mediocrity.
Kate Smith is one of America's greatest musical treasures of a bygone era.
I always loved this song.
Thank you for posting this wonderful Kate Smith version.
What a beautiful voice ! A gift from God.❤
I never knew who kate smith was until today . But I have heard her voice and her songs all my life . Simply a Gift from God .what a beatiful voice
For my mom, who passed away in 1975. I still miss her every day.
I feel the same , my mom died in 2014. Perfect song!
Love never dies. I’m so sorry.
Wish you well and the healing that only time can help.Dan Steele Lake Station indiana.
And my Mom, her birthday today, who passed Feb.3rd in 2006.
Shes with you man.
This is America, This is Kate Smith…
Kate Smith was a true American great. That voice was pure magic. She gave every song a wonderful warmth. She had style and class in abundance.
I love her version of this wonderful song the best...
Such a beautiful song! Very emotional. ❤😢
I love you mom.u and I liked this song .I'll be seeing You always till the day I'll see u in heaven.I miss u mom!
I got to meet Kate when I was very small and she came to Camden NJ for a Sears Promotion she was so nice and at the time she was still a big time star.
spectrumlocalb191 That’s so awesome! And for Sears..... great memory.....
I wonder if store is still there? I think I know answer.
When God created Kate Smith, he threw away the mold.
Adifferent time, different place, still glorious and a prime portrait of my father's generating.
Makes you miss the days when there was not the amount of lawlessness and vitriol in our country as there is today.
always a favorite of my mothers ...my first introduction was hearing her on the Ed Sullivan Show ...mom would always tear up when listening ...now it is my turn
My Dear Father(late) once told me this lovely Lady Kate Smith, came over tom sing for the soldiers, the concert was great, among the debris of war, it was a lovely moment.
I don't believe that Miss Smith ever went to any theatre of war Ido know that she toured service camps in Canada Her war work took her all over the United States . During this time, whilst doing marathon broadcasts she raised over 600, million dollars by selling war bonds. More than any other person.
A beautiful anthem of the greatest generation.
So lovely and tender! What a voice! And always her simple, heartfelt interpretation. Pulls at my heart strings! Always!
The clearest and most eloquent voices I've ever heard. Truly magnificent. And she became so beautiful as she aged.
Queen!! One of the greatest ever to grace the stage!!!
So beautiful music, thank you very much,
My gosh this is gorgeous. I haven't heard a more beautiful and truer version... with the possible exception of Jo Stafford. I think maybe it's the definitive version... even without the verse. My gosh what a great artist!
Heard this today in the grocery store and reminded me of my Mom who loved this song. She loved to sing and Kate was a favorite. The words help remember her and my husband and all those I have lost. Beautiful!
When I'm alone, I like Kate Smith, have always liked her, but I love other singers even more, much more in fact. But when we're sitting together, kindred spirits, there are few artists we love the way we do Kate Smith. Her voice, her demeanor, her phrasing have that certain something that seems to be all but lost in our day and age, I don't know how to put it, a "no-frills virtuosity and an innate love for the beauty of music and words that elevate the spirit and convey a collective goodness" perhaps?! Anyway, she never fails at making us cherish our loved ones, fellow men and home more than we might have done before.
you said it all :)
Well said, Charly... I totally agree.
Charly Wobershalek , we will never ever see the quantity of quality entertainers of the past.
Yes, yes, yes : Kate has brought this lyric to life with her earnest, conversational delivery. She was someone who was loved and admired, so very deservedly : she was someone whom everyone could understand and appreciate.
Liberace's theme song sung by Kate Smith.........perfect. I remember watching Kate Smith and Liberace on TV when I was a child and loving both of their theme songs. Sixty six years later these songs still touch my heart.
Makes me feel sad and happy. Sad that we no longer have a real world to live in but happy when I hear her sing and remember how it used to be. If only we could go back ...
Wonderful Kate Smith what have the Yankees and Flyers done to you? On Memorial Day..God Bless America and Kate Smith!
The best days of my life were the 40's and 50's with the big band era and those marvelous female headliners ad the Copa in New York City.
I fell in love with this song at a very young age , there was a WW2 movie called “ Yanks” and this was on the closing of the movie and from that moment I fell in love with this song .. thank you so very much to the person who posted this !!!
This song seems to epitomize that period of music WWII but it was done in the early sixties. Beautiful and lovely
I think Kate was great, will always remember her great voice, and how kind she was. A great American
KATE IS NOSTALGIA TO ME!!......A STAIGHT FORWARD VOICE!

i guess this song should make you glad for the good memory..sad for the loss.
My favorite recording of this song
Beautiful - in every way.
Miss Kate Smith que preciosima voz me llega a mi corazon muchas muchas gracias Dios la bendiga a usted y a su familia.
Kate Smith; one of my favorite singers! Incredible!
great song of remembrances
I always loved her voice...still do.
Note to future artists looking to cover this song...don't bother. the pain, loss, hope and fear experienced by most during WWII is evident in all version pre 1945. somehow only they are able to describe a generation and experience with a simple love song. its painful to hear later attempts to duplicate.
Csodálatos, gyönyörű ez a dal.
Köszönettel.
lovely memories of when I was young
