      I jumped back on the board at 32 after not skating for like 8 years. It was the best thing I've ever done. Even if you're not doing insane tricks just rolling around carving the park gives me a calm that I can only describe as meditation. It's great.

    Hearing skaters talking about coming back from injury is so inspiring. In my late twenties I dislocated my shoulder skating and haven’t really been able to ride since. I’m 31 now and have had multiple dislocations since then, the most recent one did the most damage and now I can’t work, never mind skate. I miss being able to ride my skateboard so much it brings me to tears. Sometimes I think I might not be able to do the things that I love anymore, but these injury comeback stories are super encouraging. I’ll keep fighting until I get better because I’m a skateboarder, and skateboarders never give up.

    • @Quadruple_curious
      @Quadruple_curious 11 месяцев назад +4

      Shit man, rooting for you. Are you on any kind of path of treatment and recovery? Hope you’re back on the board soon. I always say, if I get hurt doing what I love, so be it. But when it actually happens i can’t say it’s still not a huge bummer

    • @sporemaster97
      @sporemaster97 11 месяцев назад +4

      It wouldn't help much for tricks or anything, but could you potentially cruise around on a longboard with large, soft wheels? The vibrations are a lot less, and they're easier to balance on, so you could potentially not have to move your bad shoulder much if at all. If I'm completely off and not understanding the injury or how/what makes it hurt, then just disregard. I just know that my legs and feet hurt a lot less when I ride a longboard as opposed to a skateboard, and I didn't know if maybe that would also be less taxing on your shoulder.

You may not be jumping stairs, or riding ramps, but guitar isn't as easy as some would believe (the physical part, obviously the skill of playing is not easy to learn).

    I love Rodney Mullen so much. I love how open he is. Met him on the Swatch tour in ‘86 or ‘87 in Ft. Pierce, FL at Orange Blossom Mall. He’s been an inspiration since then. I read about Tony around ‘86 I the Mini Page section of the newspaper for kids. I remember he was holding his cat by his face in the picture. Rented Search for Animal Chin and the rest is history. Keep going you guys and take care of yourselves

    Used to draw and paint, as well as write poetry. Lost my arm in 2020 due to compartment syndrome and had an amputation at the elbow. First thing my son said after two months in the hospital was “but dad, how are we going to draw together now?” Questioned if I was even still a man. But after some time I got a pad to draw on my laptop with photoshop and it took a while but eventually I learned with my left. Sure it’s tedious AF, but there’s always a silver lining if you welcome it. Good shxt though, Mullen has always been my favourite skater✊🏾

    So crazy that the progenitor of modern skating feels this way about himself although I understand the pressure he feels, YOU ARE A LEGEND, RODNEY. You could never do anything ever again and you will still be the legend amongst legends.

    Had my right hip done but I still stopped skating because of the run outs and hippers. Took up BMX (kinda nuts) and focused more on rock climbing. I also snowboard but stopped doing park and only ride back country, but I'm 54 so I it's all good.

    To say these two are legends of the sport would be akin to saying that Michelangelo's masterpiece of a statue called David is pretty decent sculpture work. Understatement of the century. These guys practically ARE skateboarding, at least to those of us who grew up watching the in the 1980s and 1990s. It blows me away to know that they are both still incredible at what they do, truly inspirational.

    2 years ago I woke up completely paralysed from the chest down. I had just got on flow for a local skate company and was starting to film clips. It was my dream! I was bedridden. All I thought about was skating again. It took me a year to learn to walk again. My spinal cord was completely crushed by CNS lymphomas. I got bolts the size of wolverine claws in my spine. But I found my way. to hear a legend talking about something similar to what I went through and knowing that feeling of wanting nothing but to skate again, let alone walk.. is so palpable to me and really brings me back to a universal truth about passion and fulfilment that I think we can all understand 🙏 bless the MullMan!!!! Living legends.
