Interesting watch. Seems like a few surprises to keep you on your toes!!!! Double sense of humour failure - bad news indeed 😩. Wonderful varied scenery though - love it 👍🏻

That was a tough section through Mid Wales for sure!!

Cheers Dave. Got me itching to get going again. That section down past the reservoirs looks great and thanks for the heads up on the shortcut after the windfarm. Bracken is a nightmare to walk through, even worse when it is wet and it soaks through everything. As for calories, definitely correct. It is a challenge to keep the food intake enough on these trips.👍👍

It is a very pretty section and I did enjoy it but it was probably the toughest terrain. Fair play to @davegoodman for the recommendation and it will save even more of the tedious difficult ground when you take it. I'm looking forward already to seeing your interpretation of the rest of the CW that I've now walked. Thanks for supporting this series of videos!

Good job on those overgrown sections. I did a 15km trial today at the southern edge of the Brecon's and the ferns have invaded the tracks there as well. Can only imagine how bad those low traffic paths would be.

Yep, thanks very much. Mid Wales has a fearsome reputation for very overgrown paths in certain locations and the bit between Commins Coch and Dinas Mawddwy was particularly bad whilst being beautiful at the same time. Thank you so much for your comment on the video!

Enjoying it very much Dave & even smiling at your sense of humour failres..lol. Concerning the route - watching it on OS mapping as your progress... I think I would deffo need a guide, it really does go around the houses at times to get from A to B. I read a little of Mr Drake after your piece on him and I can only assume the route was designed to include many of those high peaks from South n North (or vice versa) as the route does not do straight line stuff..lol. I wonder what the percentage of failures are of those that attempt the trail - that middle section looks so so tough... I am looking forwward to the next video as I think you go up through the Minllyn Mines - a place I visited a few years ago... then Cadair, I remember you showing me an image you had taken on the stretch years ago when you was on a walk with the SW LDWA. Anyway, thanks again for recording your trip, really enjoying it. atb Al

It's called a mountain connoisseur's walk and yes, it is designed to visit the highest hills in a range if possible. After you and I have done some work on map reading, you'd have no problem navigating!

When food is definitely fuel, and much needed! Back from having a sense of humour failure myself in mid-Dorset trying to follow overgrown and disappearing paths. Guess we just have to walk them to keep them accessible.

That's exactly right, combined with a landowner sense of pride in keeping public rights of way open on their land. I'd see thst responsibility as a privilege, sadly, others don't!
Thanks for taking the time to comment on the video!

So that's how to pronounce the mountain beginning with P 😅 I got it so wrong in my videos! 😂 Another good watch 👍🍺

I'm happy that I'm helping in some small way with regards to the pronunciations of our Welsh mountains. I don't get it right every time so can only imagine how difficult and intimidating it is for people who don't live in Wales. Thanks for watching and for supporting this series of videos.

I can only imagine how bad some of the sections are in such a remote area. I completed the Raven Walk on Friday and sections of that were head high bracken with occasional brambles thrown in.
    Great watch as always.

      @morgs4mountains  5 месяцев назад +1

I haven't done the full Ravens walk for a while. But, it's always bracken bound. Did you go anti clockwise? If so you'd have gone up the 'spiteful' from Newbridge and that is a tough, tough climb!!!
Thanks for supporting this series of videos!!

@@morgs4mountains yeah I did it anti clockwise starting at Mynnydislwyn and doing the final climb back up through the forest and ending at the church.

That's the 'spiteful' that you finished on. Tough, tough finish. Well done!!

Thanks Dave. But, it was your video that helped save me even more dreadful terrain coming down from the wind farm. So pleased that you're enjoying watching my journey!

@@morgs4mountains cheers, yes I do recall saying why not just come straight down that hillside in my video. That was a horrible bit for sure. 👍
