this woman has been singing professonally and recording music, since 1962....think about that and let that sink in for a moment. And then think of all the singers from her era, that didnt make it that long, for whatever reason. She didnt submit to the cigarette smoking that destroys voices...she didnt submit to the booze and dope that Im sure she saw a lot of contemporaries and friends, give in to. And she didnt lose her mind, because of how this industry chews entertainers up and spits them out. I know one damn thing...she better get a goddamn Kennedy Center Honor before its all said and done, or Im punching somebody in the know, in the eye. Now, I done said my piece..
Wow thank you, a great tape for isolation 20/20. My favorite fourth grade song by my only favorite soul singer left! They took MJ they took Prince......so Patti we will continue this fierce walk home!
Patti LaBelle don't care if you gay or straight black or white she was still sing with you with no problem, you saw her kill it at the Apollo, with the all black wire, and then she stood up there with the all-white choir just as gracious as ever, that's what you call a queen.
Awesome.. I was listening to two versions I knew of on RUclips and asked if anyone ever did a compilation of the two and this video came up in rotation immediately after I said that!!!! Look at my GOD!!!

@@lecuyerdooley1084 you had artist that out sold them, but none touched them when it came to the live vocals. Cindy left the best live performing female group for the best selling female group. They would still make short work of The Supremes on any venue back then.
@@nutinman4u Agreed. The Supremes had a lovely harmony but they didn't have Patti LaBelle or the harmony created with Nona and Sarah in particular but Cindy blends nicely, too.
The Bluebelles were almost nothing compared to The Supremes…. Aretha… Dionne…. etc. Don’t be ridiculous. The honest truth of it all is that Patti really had nothing that stood out with her voice. That’s why the Bluebelles were never as big as the other groups. Had Patti had a standout voice she would have been able to walk into the headquarters of any of the big record companies in NY and sing a couple of songs and be hired on the spot. Patti and the belles were barely able to get hired by small local labels because she had nothing that special, no star quality in her sound. She was never a Franklin or a Houston. This doesn't mean that Patti and the girls were not turning out good live singing at theatres like the Apollo, because they were, but Patti did not have an instant star quality to her voice.
The best ones were Apollo purple dress of course and bluebells. Both were so magical. However I kicked my mothers boyfriend out of the house because of her divas live version. Once she said "keep hope in your heart" a fire came over me and I bagged all his shit up in plastic bags and threw it all outside. 😆
Did she recorded another version of this song? Because I've heard a studio version of this that sounded like between 80s-2000s, I'm sure it was her though.
@Maurice Sherwood no.. You're not wrong she's choosing Yolanda over Patti. What She wants to say is this.. Patti has a lot of adlibs while Yolanda sticks to the real melody. Or Yolanda sing the song the way it should be..
Patti is a vocalist and entertainer. She's giving the audience a show. You can go to any church and just hear people simply sing. You pay money to be entertained by a vocal Titan like a Patti LaBelle.
The thing about Ms Patti she can sing the same song and make it fit that occasion and/or setting...gotta love her!
The best of woman singing showmanship in the world, piercing strength a vocal legend that is absolutely the finest in touching the soul💓⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐💓
No Doubt.
One of the.greatest.voices.ever live
I was 5 when that 1985 clip aired and I was immediately obsessed with her (as a gay 5 year old). This women has the greatest voice in history.
Amazing! This woman is a Queen
Amazing what the "power of the will(master soul)" of man/woman can achieve.

That's what you call The Queen.
ALL versions are CELESTIAL!! Patti is timeless!!
Queen Patti
I wonder if she can still sing this... at 75... definitely don’t doubt it... she’s amazing 💋❤️🗣either way I’d love to hear
Deandre broomfield maybe yes
I know she can, especially acapella - the melody is always in her voice & if she’s just giving a song off tour, she can certainly sing it.
RNB/HIPHOP EXCLUSIVE if only you knew is definitely not as complicated to sing as you’ll never walk alone FOR ANY SINGER...
I'm sure she could sing a version of it. Her headvoice is still extremely strong but her belting range has diminished greatly
I still think she can. Someone should try to request her to sing it. 🙂
2004 is my fave version. That leg sticking out as she walked was life😂😂

As My Aunt Used To Say: She’s Nat’ Cha Got It!!!
WOW!!🎼🎵🎹🎙🔊🎻🥁📻🎵
She's not the Queen of Soul, she's simply Queen Of The Whole Dang Deal!

One thing about our Ms. Patti at the age she is now, she does have here better days with her voice. She may be able to sing it on one of those days.
shut-up!!!
@@epmarvelous001 Is that good or bad. I love myself some Ms. Patti and the Legend she has created through her years of singing whenever she could.

That first clup is from 1962. Not 1964
FIRST TIME IN 1965 WAS BEST, SHE SHOULD NOT HAVE CHANGED HER NOSE..
Shut up
She never got plastic surgery
She use to really sing with no antics in the 60's... that's why i love Yolanda Adams, she always give you pure singing and staying true to the melody.
