Great video. One thing that I found out also and am testing as to share with you too. We can all learn from each other's mistakes. I use the magnetic cover to turn off my 7th generation paperwhite. I was a little concerned as since I was using it more it appeared to be loosing charge too quickly. What I did find out was that even in the sleep/off mode the Kindle was still connected to my computer router. My Kindle fire only does this when it is on, but for some reason paperwhite earlier generations have to be kept in the airplane mode if you truly want less drain on your battery from WiFi. I could be wrong, but I don't think I am as I've heard there are more choices in the paperwhite power management in later generations. Thank you again for a great video.
Thanks for the video and showing the mistakes and imperfections. Tips for others: heat or warm the bezel to soften the glue. Be careful not to insert tool too far past the bezel and scratch the screen. The remaining steps are quite easy and straightforward. Credit to Amazon for allowing this unit to be repaired in such an easy way.
Thanks to your detailed and real struggle now I know what to expect Attempting this myself as soon as the replacement battery Comes in the mail 📬.Let's see hoy it goes 👍
Thans dude. I was forcing the inside cover to remove the screen then i decide to look up for vids and found yours. Like you, I had not realized that there was a hiddden screw. Thanks!
Thank you- this was extremely helpful. also maybe one future edit- add 5s frame detailing the original battery pn, model etc and note that the battery contacts are three pressure pads
A million thumbs up for you my old kindle is up an running!!!!! I thought I'd done something wrong as I kept getting the old error code 0 hour kindle needs repair but after fhad to force restart 3 times and the TADAAAAH my kindle came Alive woop woop. Thank you
Good evening. The video was really good. Congratulations. I had a problem. It wasn't charging anymore. Changing the battery fixed it, but I let it discharge too much and the problem came back. The battery is new, but it's not charging. The charging LED lights up for a few seconds and then turns off. How should I go about charging the battery outside of the Kindle, independently? My device is the Paperwhite.
One thing I've learnt about electrical equipment is there are always hidden screws. If you can't get something off tell yourself there must be a hidden screw, and most of the time you'll be right.
Hi when I attempted to remove the bezel, it looks like the top layer of the screen came with it there are weird wavy lines on the screen. It appears the top layer of the screen separated and now won't meld properly with the underlayer. has anyone had this problem and can it be fixed without replacing the screen?
hello, thanks for the video, it was really helpful! by any chance does anyone know where to get the battery? the link given says that there isn’t such a product anymore.. my charging port and cable are fully functional but my kindle is not charging :(
Must the kindle be completely turned off? Mine is in screensaver mode but it’s not charging and I can’t hard reset it. Nothing is happening. no LED light too even when I have it connected to the computer.
There you are: www.ebay.it/itm/353943188816?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=eehkg1ifryy&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=oOHCQspFQ8K&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
Be careful when separating the bezel. It is glued. Make sure that you separate it gently from the body but also from the screen.. Bear in mind that if you do it too quickly, it can tear off the edges of the thin layer that covers the entire screen. Lessons learned, unfortunately.
I can see it is time to start hassling my people in Congress to pass a law making manufacturers design items so that they can be fixed without all this nonsense. It was easy to change the battery in my early Kindles. There is no excuse that we have to buy special tools to change batteries on electronic devices and that they make it so hard to do.
I like this . It's real, including making a little mistake. Thank you. Very clear.
Thank you too!😊

Thanks for the video. I was able to gently start removing the bezel from the screen side instead of forcing the tool between the main case and bezel.

I know this post is years old but, in case you see this, thanks again for your know-how (and mistakes).

I think that the problem is not the battery because I always discharge it completely but it recharge anyways.

@@MoExha I haven’t yet. I saw somewhere that says kindle must be turned off before attempting it. Also, I just ordered the battery replacement today😅

I did as suggested and now it seems my cover sensor is malfunctioning :( i can turn it on but it immediately thinks its supposed to go into rest mode.
Hi, open it again and check if something is disconnected 🤷🏻♂️
Did you use any adhesive to put the front panel back on?
No, it was not necessary.
Do you know the type of battery for Paperwhite 2018 (10th generation)? I will appreciate your answer.

Hey I think I did this to my old Kindle. Do you know how to fix it?
It's Better cover the screen with aluminum foil and tape and heat with a heat gun "just a little" and carefully remove the frame
hey bro thanks for the video

How is the battery working now?
It’s working fine
Nice bro . From Vietnam
Thank you mate
Beware if you have the 3G version!
Prizing the top of the front cover like this may break the antenna glued to back of it!
Nice to know! Thank you 😊
