for those who say there "ballroom dancing", you gotta understand when we're doing this doing this, it's half speed and the intentions aren't to hurt your opponent in this scenario...
i appreciate all these comments i really do. However I cant say it enough this is a simple demonstration to show what MCMAP is and how it can be effective if applied correctly. My husband who is a Marine is a 10 yr veteran at krav maga and he still enjoys practicing MCMAP with his Marines.
I'm actually undergoing the MAI course in the corps now to become an instructor under IT's... They're actually very experienced, and know what they're doing
All I have to say to that is Oorah and Semper Fi. Marines. Doing what Marines do best. On and off the battlefield, only with class, though. Thank you very much.
+Adzowa Gedjeah Yeah when they aren't trying to jump a guy in a bar on a date with his girlfriend, or picking fights, or acting like a pack of drunken assholes. Yeah, buncha great guys they are. Just ask any experienced bouncer or bar owner in a military town privately what they think of marines.
Big opinions, for someone with no idea of what he is referring, too. United States or United Kingdom. Both have Marines. Didn't your mother tell you not to talk with your mouth full. :) Talk to me when you have something good to say and get some manners. Or did you forget about that, too.
worldstarnekkas, Fuck of ya shithead, marines are the people who fight for your freedom that you enjoy everyday of your life. Maybe you should think before you talk you ignorant snowflake!
They are just demonstrating counters to civilians. Obviously they are moving a little slower so people can watch and keep up. If you think this is real or as fast as they can move then lol
I'm a civilian never served and I know how to fight but are boy's are the best hand's down American boys can fight they come from the west East north south they are family and we love them good job boys and girls hold fast and guard are Land God bless you
People can talk all the shit they want, but this is a combat martial arts that is used to DEFEND and KILL. "It looks weak" Well, go join the enemy and fight with them on the battlefield where they'll go 100% instead of 15-20% I guarantee you it won't "look weak" to you anymore.
+Kevin Quach Those two twinkies wouldn't be killing anyone with the bodies of 7th grade girls and week 1 BJJ classes. They both suck and so does this video. Hopefully they are both good with a rifle because in hand to hand these guys are awful. where do they get the balls to think they are qualified to put on demonstrations? They themselves don't even know how to do the moves.
@00SoldierofFortune00 Quick Question : Boxing,MT,BJJ,Wrestling (Mixed Martial Arts)are these effective in real combat and also is the weapons ( m16 bayonet use and strikes) actually good and effective .I like what you said about slipping, and overhands cause boxing is good as a stanup and will make marines fast quick agile and have good responses as for muay thai is it good in real life? and marines should know BJJ takedowns ,slams, submissions.Btw do they teach you how to use a combat knife in mc
Nice demo, great skill is needed to perform those manuvers without injuring your partner, specially that overhand knife disarm...I've had that done to me befire and my shoulder injured...great skill and care was taken.
On the off chance anyone who trains MCMAP sees this, does the disarm/throw at 1:04 have a name? I've seen alot of the throws used here in JJJ and BJJ, but that one's brand new and looks really useful.
@cheryceward i just enrolled in krav maga classes in tucson az, thou challengeing, it is an extremely helpful tool while holding yourself to disapline and honor, amazing it really is. I would also like to thank your husband for serveing our country, giveing us freedom. and his detacation. Thank you and great video!
I was a Black Belt Instructor and to all the people who talk crap about this, need to go to the school I went to and then you will truly know this style of fighting is made to be performed while having an entire combat load on in excess of 100 pounds and effectively survive. Although I practice other disciplines, a lot of us instructors at the black belt level will not show all of the things we learned. Most of the moves once you get to that level can kill or permanently disabled a human being.
@cheryceward Are there instructors out there that will teach MCMAP outside of the Core? If for example I couldn't join due to an illness or I wanted to learn some in preparation of joining.
The trainings are basic principals so the marines aren't lost and know how to defend and take over situations. The marine corps provides marines with the basic knowledge and they've never stopped anyone from learning other martial arts. Actually they encourage it. it's always up to the individual to take their training to the level they want.
@00SoldierofFortune00 What ground fighting system do they need also what moves do you learn with the m16 and how do they serve purpose .and look up human weapon krav maga its one of the best for kinfe and guns attacks best reversals for any and every real life situation
Nope They learned it from us in Israel With the IDF we call our style Krav Maga and we trained the us soldiers at Quantico Marine Base in va. I was there. But we always have respect for US armed forces.
SouthBeach Myami I do agree. Israel Special Forces are very unique and skilled. I find it good that the Marines and the Israel armed forces train together.
Joey Boombatz, actually Krav Maga is one of the martial arts in the MC martial arts program, but the actual art is similar to a more effective version of MMA.
....then you get shot, genius. Pray your body armor works. I mean, really, why don't YOU answer your question? "WhAt iF i SHoOt YoU??". Pretty dumb question, dude.
@jeremyat11 Again, they're trained to be combat ready and combat effective, not sport effective. You can bet that someone trained to fight one on one in a right is going to do that better than a Marine designed to fight a large group of enemies from a distance and to react to an attack in order to disable the threat. Most of MCMAP revolves around weapons and disarms, since that's most effective in a war zone. They are also trained to fight as a team. 1 on 1, they would lose. 2 on 2 they wouldn't
These guys train and fight nearly everyday. It's very hard to get to black belt. But, rest assured probably everyone of you talking shit would be wiped off the mat in about 20 seconds. It's intense training and this is a demo. Discipline goes a long way in the Corps but, rest assured all the shit talking you wouldn't be talking that shit in person. Fighting techniques differ but, a 3 knuckle deep eye gouge don't.
its more about living longer, being in shape, being able to stand up for yourself, for your girl, being sexy with all of those muscles for your girl, meeting new people, seeing friends, feeling better, and best of all, the training gets fun.
Actually not true, the MCMAP (Marine corps martial arts program) is not based on every martial art in the world, on the contrary it is only based upon 4 or 5 martial arts with smatterings of different disciplines mixed in here and there.
@cheryceward The Marine Corps is one of the sponspors of the UFC, which is why they let them demonstrate their program, to use it as a recruiting tool in exchange for them being sponsored. And I am all for mixing other martial arts if they are effective, but you don't jump over guard to execute an armbar.....ever.... Its not even in the MCMAP curriculum either.
the lower your hips are, the harder it is to lose balance and the smaller target you are. it's not a good idea to begin every fist fight in such a low stance because youll get kneed in the face, especially in competitive. but in regards to dealing with a weapon like a bayonet, it keeps you alive. look at wrestlers, they always have a very low base/ center of gravity
Sorry guys, but this is not an "elite" fighting system. Its a Frakenstein martial art system of moves thrown together. Trust me, I'm a brown belt in MCMAP, but am currently a blue belt in BJJ and have done boxing, muay thai, and wrestling. I learned more in 3-4 months of BJJ and wrestling than I did in all my time of MCMAP. The problem with MCMAP is that its only "decent" at the high levels but most Marines never make it there cus of time constraints. They don't teach the double leg either.
@Ascenscion123 Boxing/MT are pretty much the best striking arts because they spar all the time, so of course they would be effective in a life or death situation in combat. The problem is Marines don't get enough time to spar because higher ups are scared of injuries and a lot of ITs suck. Most people dont even know how to throw a proper punch. The bayonet and M16 moves serve their purpose. The knife training in MCMAP is pretty lame. Its robotic. Marines dont need slams, just some more throws.
In the ring it is look like shit. But in no rules fight.Even an MMA fighter would be like "That was so brutal'.We all know that Marines almost lost a boxing match but not all.But we can see that they are dominating in the battlefield.I heard the news that another marine was given a medal because of repelling 15 Taliban with his team mates and killing an enemy in a hand to hand combat.
not realy mcmap is a mix of many differnt martial arts and its meant for the battle field its still efective but yeah they might need to add more stuff to it to make it better but if its not broke don't fix it and thanks for your service i salut from an future marine and former JROTC cadet.
its obviously a demonstration, they're just going through the moves and motions to give you an idea about what MCMAP is about. and truth is most IT's have real experience, actually they have to have some kind of background to get their second instructor tab
Most marines are taught basic hand to hand. They dont get the advanced stuff unless they become an instructor or get a secondary mos like recon, ss, or marsoc.
Don't worry. Marines ON THEIR OWN are NOT deadly weapons. With a gun, they are. That's how it goes. That demo was as good as most martial art demos are in that it's not totally horrible. the weapon defenses were god damned aweful, though... but most are.
@00SoldierofFortune00 Hey since your a Cpl what type of missions and how much you get payed.btw I agree with MT cause MT already teaches boxing, advnce kick knees elbows and good clinches.MT makes you a good boxer and has really great moves .Marines need : Muay Thai,Judo,BJJ but flitered in a combat system for the battle know what i mean.btw i hear mt really is good for self defense except the big gap is guns/kinfes disarm.Krav Maga is useful in my opinion just look up Itay Gil
@Ascenscion123 They have ground moves already, but they aren't really taught correctly. They should really replace the armbar from guard with a sweep since its more important to get to your feet as a Marine than submit from your back. M16 moves have buttstroke, slash, and smash which are all good.Krav Maga is nothing special btw. Its just like MCMAP, a bunch of moves thrown together without any real theory behind them. Its overrated too.A groin atttack wont stop most people trying to kill.
Ever seen tai-chi? Slow as molasses right? Speed it up and grandpa-san will mop the floor with your sorry ass. Some of those moves are designed to incapacitate immediately and permanently (by gravity slamming your skull into the ground) and are only practiced on cushioned floors. Hell, even on cushioned ground, the impact still knocks your brain around.
@jeremyat11 Simplicity is effective. It's more than you get out of usual MMA training. You're trained to kill, yes. You're also trained in 3 months to be able to defend yourself effectively. It's not designed to be devestating. It's designed to be effective and simple.
@FightersEliteMMA MCMAP Isn't a program for civies, It's not MMA either; in a cage it would be different as well as it would be in Afghanistan. Usually though, all the stuff the Marines learned at boot on MCMAP are tossed out the window in a struggle; You'd probably try to gouge the guys eyes out, lean him into your KA-BAR, or just try to shoot him in the face with your side arm; not any of this MMA stuff.
fake guns never go bang, don't ever pull a fake gun on anyone (especially a marine), if you have to pull a gun for defense of your life, you better be prepared to use it or lose it.
its a demonstration. we practice MCMAP like this all the time. its called "tools for your tool box" for Marines to use in combat situations while bearing a full combat load. obviously in real combat we are gonna be a lot more aggressive than this.... if they actually hurt each other they risk their career in the Marines because they become non deployable, which, in the USMC, if your non deployable, your worthless to us.
Hey mate that move I guaranteed to you it works like a charm in a wrestling match, just don't over do it only use it as away to escape a takedown and land on top I used it and won several wrestling matches here in Britain when I was in school. Cheers
Have you tried to do butterfly guard against someone in a fight? You'll get kicked in the balls. BJJ is very good if you are aware of its limitations, but you cannot use it as the only reference for serious self-defense. Just as you cannot use boxing as the only reference which other self-defense systems are judged.
Its almost identical to Army Combatives now. The original LINE system was solely a Marine system. However, having studied the basics in both MCMAP and MACP i gotta say theyre adequate introductions to the basics of hand to hand combat. Its all good knowledge. As always its the Warriors spirit that determines how profficient and deadly the practitioner becomes. And by the way just to make it clear this training is all just to supplement the ARMED warfighter. In reality anyone that wants to be profficient in hand to hand combat need only look up their local mma gym. If you want to confront and destroy Americas enemies join the Marines or Army.
Wouldn't that be crazy if some kind of weird fight like this actually happened in Afghanistan? Like switching the guns from each other and random guys killing? I think they would just pull the trigger in 1 second.
Nice video. I am not in the military but I am a trained fighter and I was always sad when seeing military fighting videos. They never really showed skill in my eyes. Over the past about 5 years seems the marines in particular have been training their fighters better. I say marines because I fight all branches of the military and ever since the marines instituted a kinda MMA program I have heard about 10 years ago their fighters have been trained better. Love being in the ring with Marines :P
@jeremyat11 You have to think of the legal aspects. If you have to power to simply disable, that is the best course. Actually, escaping is the best course of action.
obviously you don't have a clue. go join the marines, train and try the unarmed combat on someone that has'nt trained in your core and see how effective it is.
to all you people who are saying this is terrible acting there not trying to make it look good there just putting on a demonstration
for those who say there "ballroom dancing", you gotta understand when we're doing this doing this, it's half speed and the intentions aren't to hurt your opponent in this scenario...

Sh4tterdL0g1c, even as a demo this is still really fast, I know that they can go harder and faster though.
This is one of the many reason The Marines are the best.
I'm a civilian never served and I know how to fight but are boy's are the best hand's down American boys can fight they come from the west East north south they are family and we love them good job boys and girls hold fast and guard are Land God bless you
the women yelling fight kills the demonstration
Who is the annoying lady saying "fight, fight, fight!" it was annoying
+Majora Is it really a woman? I thought it was some kid
the power of the internet, letting those few know they are not alone

Fiction
i like how the other kid is saying “fight, fight, fight”
@FightersEliteMMA so what ur saying is you would be willing to fight a marine?
Not to nit pick, but after the first time he was thrown away with the riffle, wouldn't he have been filled full of wholes?
you're husband is a 10 yr veteran at krav maga that is really really impressive.
WTF, I moved out of Corona in 2005. Why didn't this gym exist then? I would have loved to train here.
um... what if a guy actually intends to use a gun?
Then you disarm the bullets. Obviously.
There are techniques used. This is just a recruitment tool. Marines on post are always armed so it's not like they can't shoot first.
If the guy is gonna kill you, you would been dead already and it wouldn't matter.
Marines shoot to kill.
....then you get shot, genius. Pray your body armor works. I mean, really, why don't YOU answer your question? "WhAt iF i SHoOt YoU??". Pretty dumb question, dude.

mcmap is every martial art combined and put in a real world situation
There was some really good footage. Thanik you for the post... Have a nice weekend! -Ghost_13
And that shows how advanced and well trained are marines are
It's not meant to stop a bullet. Don't know where you heard that one at.
what movie did you watch?
i live in corona. i couldnt go that day though i was out of state. ship off to boot camp october 17th
These guys train and fight nearly everyday. It's very hard to get to black belt. But, rest assured probably everyone of you talking shit would be wiped off the mat in about 20 seconds. @irideblind good luck man. whats your mos?
Sick moves that i want to learn
its more about living longer, being in shape, being able to stand up for yourself, for your girl, being sexy with all of those muscles for your girl, meeting new people, seeing friends, feeling better, and best of all, the training gets fun.
Very nice demonstration
Actually not true, the MCMAP (Marine corps martial arts program) is not based on every martial art in the world, on the contrary it is only based upon 4 or 5 martial arts with smatterings of different disciplines mixed in here and there.

Its not even in the MCMAP curriculum either.
We trained in this when I enlisted in UPS. Before you get the brown van you have to be combat ready
wont dislike cause they're the marines
can anybody who EXPERIENCED in martial arts tell me why they are staying so close to the ground?
the lower your hips are, the harder it is to lose balance and the smaller target you are. it's not a good idea to begin every fist fight in such a low stance because youll get kneed in the face, especially in competitive. but in regards to dealing with a weapon like a bayonet, it keeps you alive. look at wrestlers, they always have a very low base/ center of gravity
well done guys keep up the good work .
HEY!! thats Ssgt. Buxton, Ssgt. Luther, and Ssgt. Sanchez:D the recruiters i P.T with in anaheim.
and that is why this is called a demonstration
This is a demo to show what they do in each position your in .THey probably know way more but not shown to public . MCMAP is an elite fighting style
Sorry guys, but this is not an "elite" fighting system. Its a Frakenstein martial art system of moves thrown together. Trust me, I'm a brown belt in MCMAP, but am currently a blue belt in BJJ and have done boxing, muay thai, and wrestling. The problem is Marines don't get enough time to spar because higher ups are scared of injuries and a lot of ITs suck. Most people dont even know how to throw a proper punch. Love the demonstration/fight but that kid needed to shut up. THIS IS MARINE CORPS SHOW SOME RESPECT!
@mckinley1175 You took notice to the fact that a lot of MARSOC Marines actually train in MMA and traditional arts after earning the title. Good man.
lol i knew i wasnt the only one who was thinking that
Holy smokes mcmap combined to a giant show feels like WWE
if i see that in an actual situation ima be like oooohhhh shhhiiitttt
No, but isn't it better to train for a hypothetical situation with "best case scenario odds" then not train for anything at all?
who is dat lil kid yelling fight fight in the backround
sad thing is that most of the time you get shot before in range to disarm anyone unless guy holding the gun doesnt have fingers
that ´s the People i trust for protection not today martial Artist.
tylers comment is the only one i need thank you and goodbye lol
not realy mcmap is a mix of many differnt martial arts and its meant for the battle field its still efective but yeah they might need to add more stuff to it to make it better but if its not broke don't fix it and thanks for your service i salut from an future marine and former JROTC cadet.
the reason they have the mats is so the marines don't break the floor
its obviously a demonstration, they're just going through the moves and motions to give you an idea about what MCMAP is about. and truth is most IT's have real experience, actually they have to have some kind of background to get their second instructor tab

and you come from where? you must have a badass Special Forces Unit if you think the SEALS and Marines are weak.
Can't wait to advance my belt up there
At first I was expecting a real fight and thinking "wow this is so fake, who are they fooling?" Then I realized it's just a demonstration lol
Nice work marines!
So.. you wanna call it mauyboxthaijiukravjitsu? Or just call it MCMAP?
Don't worry. Marines ON THEIR OWN are NOT deadly weapons. With a gun, they are. That's how it goes. That demo was as good as most martial art demos are in that it's not totally horrible. the weapon defenses were god damned aweful, though... but most are.

If you want to confront and destroy Americas enemies join the Marines or Army.
first of all who lets somebody get that close with a gun? That's the damn rules of engagement interfering
Wouldn't that be crazy if some kind of weird fight like this actually happened in Afghanistan? Like switching the guns from each other and random guys killing? I think they would just pull the trigger in 1 second.
Nothing about what you just said had anything to do with what either of us were talking about.
Actually, escaping is the best course of action.
the disarms are siiick!
obviously you don't have a clue. go join the marines, train and try the unarmed combat on someone that has'nt trained in your core and see how effective it is.
