Thanks for the idea. Never thought of using the mini grill for things like potato pancakes, Salmon patties, all Sorts of new fun ideas. I have the mini grill but see that there’s actually another grill that has an 8 inch surface. Will think about buying that. When you mentioned Howard Johnson and your mom buying patties there around the 1980s reminded me that Jacques Pepin the famous French chef had been asked by the Kennedys to be the chef at the White House which he turned down. Instead, he went to work for Howard Johnson, who offered food with his hotels, and also offered food for takeout. He wanted the experience of mass cooking for that type of enterprise.
My mom used to make salmon croquettes. When I was a little kid, it was the only way mom could get me to eat fish. I want to try this but with canned fish. I’m allergic to chicken. I remember mom making them with bread crumbs and onions and garlic. We ate them with tartar sauce.
@@CounterCooking I made some fish croquettes tonight in my pie maker. So yummy. Making extra as we speak for lunch tmw too. Thanks for the inspiration.
Recently found your channel, and have subscribed. I use these mini appliances camping. Great for single servings. I will be going on a road trip with my car, and plan to do my cooking with my mini appliances!
Freezer Queen used to have a freezer meal of turkey croquettes that was wonderful...they came in patties in gravy, like salisbury steak. I've looked for them for years but apparently Freezer Queen went out of business. Maybe I'll try making some over Thanksgiving this year if I have some turkey that's left over...
Love this idea. Haven’t had croquettes for many years. I’ll try this with instant mashed potatoes since I never make reg mashed potatoes! Should work. ❤️😎
I'd add a little flour to thicken them up, maybe a tablespoonful. If you want a larger one, use the heating plate of the Dash egg bites cooker! Chicken gravy for your croquette: Make a roux in a frying pan with butter and flour. Once it browns a little, mix in chicken broth with a fork or whisk (keep it moving very fast) until it thickens, then add milk to bring it to the consistency you want, then season to taste (salt, pepper, parsley). It's now ready to pour over your croquette.
The hubster is having leftover "Donna Burgers" ---HIS name for them, lol --- for supper, and I have been trying to figure out what to have for me. And YOU just gave me the WHAT to have for my supper! TY, TY, TY!
I made these for lunch yesterday. I did add some poultry seasoning to mine and it’s a new favorite. My husband dipped his a bit of bbq sauce and I ate mine with a little bit of ranch dressing. Great recipe. Thanks for sharing !
Looks delicious. It's been years and years since I've had them. And I've never actually made them myself. But I have one of these little griddles so I'm definitely going try it. Thankyou 👍🏼
I agree with another person that your voice is so calming! I am getting my mini Dash griddle tomorrow and decided to make your recipe. Like you, I haven't had these for years. My mom used to make them in the late 60's.
I love your little glass bowls. It would be a nice replacement for plastic in the mini egg cooker…these croquettes look delicious. I bet it’d be good with canned crab too!
Weaver used to sell frozen chicken croquettes with a chicken gravy! I lived on them when I was pregnant. My baby is graduating college next week . So it’s been awhile ! I’m making these tonight. Freezing the leftovers so I can have them anytime! Thanks for this
WATCHING YOU MAKE THE CHICKEN CROQUETTES, BOUGHT BACK SO MANY MEMORIES OF WHEN I WAS YOUNG. WE HAVE DASH MINI COOKERS HERE IN AUSTRALIA, BUT GO UNDER A DIFFERENT NAME. BUT COOK UP NICE MEALS , LIKE YOURS. I SO ENJOY YOUR VIDEOS, BUT WOULD LIKE TO SEE WHAT YOU LOOK LIKE. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK. KRES
Thank You this looks amazing! Also why my mother never threw out food even if it was just a small serving. I know so many people who just scoop out the last of the mashed potatoes into the garbage. Watched this video again, your doing multiple tests just improves the experience more and more and is very helpful for when I hit my life on the road.
That looks really good I usually just do potato croquettes versus adding meat. There is less fat using just a tiny bit of butter because usually you kind of fry it on the stove top. This makes me want to try to do croquettes on my griddle. Thank you!
I make fish cakes. I flake the fillits, add 1 egg to bin it all togetther. then add onion, garlic, salt & pepper, dip in bread crumbs thats why the one egg. I have to replace counter appliances. I've viewed your videos, one mini round grill and 8 inch round electric grill. I use 8-6 inch tortillas many different ways. Which size grill would you recommend.
Helloooo Counter Cooking ... Nice Croquettes ... Been a long time since I've had any , they do look great though ...About that browning issue , the griddle won't get hot enough to Brown quite like a Big Griddle would , but that's a good thing coz if it did you'd be burning stuff all over the place ...You just need to finesse it a little & you croquette should brown & crisp fairly nicely ... To your breadcrumbs ( you should try out the NEW PORK PANKO Breadcrumbs , they are great .!!! ) you should put a sparse amount on a small saucer or plate so as not to have to waste too much of the next 2 ingredients you should add ...1.) A couple tablespoons of Corn Starch , & a teaspoon or so of Baking Soda ...Along with that healthy dollop of Butter you croquette should Brown & Crisp up just fine ... Give it a try ...Oh Yes , I almost forgot , if you add some Onion Powder & some Onion Flakes I believe they will be even better ...Also , Put your seasonings in the mix before forming up & cooking , if you let your seasoned chicken & veg mix Rest in the fridge for bout an hour before forming & cooking they will Taste even Better ....................... 🥚🥚🐓🐓🐔🐔👌👌👍👍👋👋👋👋
Cool recipe! I might try it next time I'm feeling adventurous. But, I'm wondering if the Dash 8" griddle would be better since it has a heating element in the top and you can cook more than 1 at a time. 🤔
They both have heating elements in the top. The Dash 8” griddle would be quicker. Whether it’s better is more of a personal preference that depends upon a variety of factors. Quickness, portability, power consumption, availability, etc. 👍
I cook everything in a dash 8 inch griddle and an air fryer. It's hard to find recipes for the 8 inch, and it's so much more convenient, even for a single person, and it's perfect for 2 people.
@@hekatejayne2238 I'm loving my 8" dash griddle ...you can cook more things at same time on it, I use it several times a week. It's AWESOME for omelettes! Grilled cheese or quesadillas, and even small frozen pizzas. I still love the smaller Dash's but this one has become my go to.
This reminds me of my Great Auntie Rebecca. She had these once. She was brutally murdered by a pack of wild dogs. She was eating a plate of chicken croqets when it happened. I have never tried these before and please be careful if you take these. Don't do it near dogs
You have a very calm "chef" voice. Everything you prepare is so easy for anyone to accomplish.
Thanks for watching!

The egg bite maker is a good cooker! You can cook eggs and also fits a sandwich because it's square.

@@CounterCooking THANKS. I really appreciate your insight cooking small servings. To be honest eating leftovers 4 times in a row, not a fan.
so yummy!
I have the grill with extra plates. Would this be suitable to cook on the Dash grill?
It should be. It would just have grill marks on it.
I remember some kind of white gravy….not sure what it was.
I remember a very light chicken gravy that was like an off white color.
I think I had it that way, with small sweet peas in the sauce (béchamel). Yum!

Anybody try switching mashed potatoes with bread crumbs.. maybe leftover chicken cold cuts?
I would cook it for 7 minutes each side. And you could replace the chicken with tuna or broken up cod fish.
Have you ever cooked a chicken breast on the mini griddle? If so, how?
I wish she would add amounts…yet, I love her videos…
The reason I don't is because amounts don't matter. If I use a recipe and amounts are important then I include amounts.
You could substitute tuna or salmon instead of chicken. Very good!
