@@MrLivebynight It's a tricky card, I've certainly missed plays by thinking you can *only* cast it from the yard. The most important thing is that he reflected on it later and decided it was an error.
I would love to know why you chose not to cast Hogaak at 43:10? I'm not sure if it was an oversight, but you could have still left your faithless looting in your yard and since it's game 1 against RU mana, a sweeper is unlikely and you would have presented lethal on turn 3. I'm just curious what risk you were playing around that I'm not thinking about?
At 27:20 he had either manamorphose or desperate ritual + grapeshot for his out, he flunked it by playing opt. No idea if that's why he showed his hand or if he simply missed it.
Not really, he had three untapped creatures on the field and five cards in the bin, while Hogaak was in his hand. So he could cast it and still keep exactly Looting in the yard 🤷♂️
I thought Wizards didn't want Modern becoming a format with T3 kills? That's literally all we saw in ten matches. I see people saying how "healthy" Modern is but I sure don't see the fun in playing.
at 1:23:45 why not play feeder before, in case it resolves? we can sac bloodghast to feeder and get both back with the land drop, feeder becomes 2/2 and the ghast is untapped. afraid of kaya's guile/ravenous trap?

I think they will wait since to see the meta game attempt to adjust and there’s also reprint of Leyline of Void /Grafdiggers cage coming out However, this deck will not stand 2 B&R announcements. So I see Altar or maybe Bridge getting the axe. I wouldn’t mind a unban or 2. Obviously Stoneforge. Other notable would be Twin.
Altar and Hogaak* Looting was fine before the introduction of this filth. Hogaak will never not be oppressive as a card that can benefit from literally any grave synergy. This much power on turn 2, in this consistent of a fashion, is absolutely absurd.

its not unplayable nor horrible. Modern is fine. If you want to play more interactive magic, standard or legacy is available. If you want very fast and linear format, then modern. I dont think every format has to be the same.

If you think that faithless looting is the problem card of this deck, then you clearly have no idea how powerful altar of dementia is. This deck doesnt even need faithless to function, it's just a way to speed up the kill/draw yourself out of bad hands. Wotc introduced two cards that are kill conditions and engines on their own, at the same time into modern, and that is the real issue. Hogaak and Altar introduce nothing healthy to the format, and they both stand to get unreasonably powerful (even more powerful than now) with any card that cares about a graveyard. Ban. The. Filth.
