Being an average NHL player isn’t an insult, these guys are all solid and have had all impactful seasons. The word “average” is more for the title and I hope you understand what I was going for in the video, I don’t mean to offend.
Those Armia shorthanded goals are crazy. There was a lot of hype around him in Finland before he was drafted. Never figured out why he didn't thrive as a top 6 forward as he seems to have great hands and shot
I think it's all about the mental aspect that he had trouble with. I mean with the Montreal media and just trouble believing in himself. I think I remember him mentioning that he received a lot of help this season from the new staff regarding that aspect and he's definitely improved accordingly. Don't take my word for it though I could be spreading misinformation, this is just off the top of my head and I ain't no psychologist
Armia has very underrated offensive skills. He lacked a lot on defensive side of the game so he had to play a lot in 3-4 lines, but someone forgot him there. Nowadays he is just not a top scoring prospect but a very solid two-way player who can play in any role. If he stays healthy, I am not surprised if he makes the Olympic roster.
He has thrived as a top 6 forward. With team Finland, that is, where they believe in him. Obviously he is not a top 6 scorer for a whole 82 games NHL season, but he can definitely fill that role for a 10-game stretch easily. And the great thing is, if he is not required in the top 6 he also excels in the bottom 6. And we must remember, Winnipeg and Montreal BOTH have a gruesome history of ruining European prospects... (or drafting overhyped ones... that's a possibility too)
i remember him so much from when i was younger i never saw his stats i used to think he was a consistent all star lmao and every highlight of him was disgusting
So many Sabres players but no Ristolainen. I swear this guy would score like 4-6 goals per season but half of those would be absolute beauties and topped with some sick cellies as well.
What this video actually demonstrated, is the fact the media only hypes up plays that the star players makes. Look at the goal at 5:08 like litterly that goal is up there or if not better than any McDavid or Matthews goal I have ever seen. Yet never seen that goal before, getting so sick media bias. Most goals here are totally insane, yet not even in the top 5 goals of the season.
Whenever Joel Armia's career is over, I want to know what percentage of his career goals were short-handed. Carey Price and the penalty kill carried the Habs to a cup final, and he was a huge part of that.
Carter Hutton had one of those elite saves every season, otherwise he just a decent backup. But great commentator, hopefully the NHL hires him for broadcasts.
In Zdeno Chara's final years, the highlights of the year for me were the 4-7 goals a season that he would have, especially the huge slap shots, AND ESPECIALLY the one in his LAST GAME. Unbelievable. Chara was the only reason for me to watch a single highlight of a New York Islander game.
I wouldnt call chris drury an average player, but he had some of the sickest goals ive ever seen in the early 2000s. Based on his point totals then you wouldn't suspect it
The thing all these players have in common is that they show incredible work ethic. All of these pretty plays are off of 2nd and 3rd efforts which is exactly what it takes to make it in the NHL when you're not as naturally gifted as the McDavids and Mackinnons of the world.

The audacity to call them average NHLers! Shame on you sir.
The avg nhler is still in the top 2% of.players in the world. That's being real conservative too.
@@travisa7025 Jesus loves everyone

Right? A fourth liner in the NHL is still better than about 97% of hockey players on earth.

Hearing “buffalo leads the series 3-2” sounds crazy now lmao
Tyler Ennis is literally unstoppable for no reason on the most random plays
i remember him so much from when i was younger i never saw his stats i used to think he was a consistent all star lmao and every highlight of him was disgusting
Turning into a prime Sidney Crosby along the boards for a couple plays each year
@@beneasler8868 lol so true. that goal he scored on the habs was nuts
I will never get tired of listening to RJ call hockey games. Great job man!

thank you for not forgetting to mention Girgensons
Respect from Latvia🇱🇻
Glad someone is giving Hutton’s saves some respect
Funny how the first guy plays for the jets, scores on Montréal, then the next highlight he’s playing for Montréal against the jets 😂
He was a canadien and was traded to the jets in a trade that sent this year's pick to the Canadiens I forget what was also in the deal
@@storm_drex492 yeah, just in order of highlights
What I was thinking 😂
Joel Armia 🔥
its pronounced yoel lol
That’s how his name is spelled…
@@Brooksie10 Yes sorry just the announcers saying it wrong is what i meant.
Underrated goal scorer
i TMed that name no one else can have it
Didn’t realize this was just a sabres compilation lmao
I would also put Casey Desmith in here. He has the most highlight reel saves of any backup I have ever seen. It's absurd
diving blocker save in 2021 was save of the year
I wanted to root for the guy but the sexual assault from his college days is something I just can’t forget about
Sebastian Caron
I see this as an alternate timeline. Like there's no McDavid's or Matthews and these are the guys we are watching make highlight reels.

92 goals so far in NHL. 14 are shorthanded goals.
Goddamn Tyler ennis has some filthy hands
He was also a top 6 guy for most of his career. Not sure he belongs in the “average” tag
i watched that Panik goal at 3:40 live (on TV). Basement crew was going nuts
Panik's first goal shook me to my core.
18 year old Mario Armia will be anything but average once he enters his prime.
Jeff Petrymouse was pretty good too
@@amecarethqc6652same with hondacific
The vet Chewbacca will be good for his development as well

Mario Armia !!!!
The fact that hockie junkie is this popular still blows my mind
Ennis’ jumping backhand made me drop my phone and jaw. Damn dude just made of rubber.
Thanks for making me stop watching your old videos and now I can watch your new one!
Tyler Motte had some nasty goals with the Canucks, would love to see him in a pt. 2
Bedard's favourite player
The hats being in like a third of the clips is the most un-ironic funniest thing ever
I wouldnt call chris drury an average player, but he had some of the sickest goals ive ever seen in the early 2000s. Based on his point totals then you wouldn't suspect it
RIP Rick Jeanneret and Bob Cole. Two of the most electric commentators in hockey history
I just knew Armia would be in this video 😂
I always remember watching those “best saves of all time” vids…but I had no clue Hutton owned so many teams!
Joel Armia was a top 15 pick for a reason, he does something insane every night with the Habs but then doesn’t nothing else for the rest of the game
Josh bailey always scored one crazy goal per year
Holy shit Panik's goals were all absolute zingers.
so many highly talented players who are sadly overlooked
Cool video, honorable mention is maybe Denis Malgin who had a pretty sweet goal against the flames
Honestly, when Armia really wants to, his play is probably one the smoothest in the league
Armia is a short handed magician oh my god
As a jets fan armia scored some crazy goals for the jets in the short time he was there
Radim Vrbata has to have some nasty clips
PART 2 NOW
Surprised that Athanasiou wasn’t included
I debated on it, but the 30 goal season stopped me
@@DeltaHighlights yeah makes sense ig

Jack Edwards: BENOIT POULIOT MERRY CHRISTMAS
Also Jack Edwards: Calls him a chump and a disappointment of talent for missing a hit
Zemgus Girgensons is my favorite NHL name at the moment. Maybe only second all time to Radek Bonk.
Nobody talking about that Benoit Pouliot boston goal filthy
I grow up watching Benoit Pouillot! He was very good
This video is like a 2012 throwback lol
This video makes me wanna watch the buffalo vs Montreal games next season lol
Tyler Ennis has some of the nastiest hands I’ve ever seen
should do an "average players" outplaying super stars video
Ennis' one at 6:06 was the best of them all
Sabres ennis doesnt get enough love guy was wild
joel armia with the magic mitts 🪄

Basically every guy GMs have on a trade board in their office, hoping they can steal them.
Basically hidden Gems in the NHL
Man when Hutton was on he was on
This guy's got eyes, and no, I'm not talking about the players, I'm talking about Delta
Pouliot played on a different team in every highlight XD
SUCH a great topic omg
2:34 man those jerseys are absolutely amazing
price is in about 50% of the goals against
I dunno if you would consider Ales Hemsky 'average' but he certainly has his fair share of spectacular highlights
PLEASE part two, fnatastic vid idea
Moral of the story: anyone can have a great highlight reel if it's commentated by Rick Jeanneret
ZEMGUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A CROWD FAVOURITE
The average guys that have long careers are pretty goddamn great! You've gotta be good to keep getting contracts with middle of the road stats!
You're missing Zegras
People would destroy me if I included him lol
Tyler ennis would be great at Slapshot: Rebound
Panik could have a highlight reel featuring the track "Panik Kontrol" by Psykosonik. THAT would be 🔥
1:10 he switched teams
Makes me miss Jack Edwards and R.J.
Never realized Joel Armia was like that
Shouldve put Paul Cotter!!!
I thought Tyler Ennis was a top ten player in league as kid because he would always show up in best goals highlights
THE LATVIAN LOCOMOTIVE
If Joel Armia only played on the PK he'd have the best goals/60 in the league.
This is awesome
This list is missing paul cotter
Benoit Pouliot oh what a time
Pouliot and hutton highlights were the only reason they came to buffalo to die
there is one dude I would definitely put on this list. Alexandre Texier.
