I know the LS is the cheapest with the best power potential, but specially for those trying to sell a more luxurious sports car, it feels like that option might not please the buyers. The brands i mentioned offer good selection of 6 and 8 cyl (even 5 for audi) engines that arent that expensive either. I found particularly odd the first car on the video mentioning thr buyers are selected by the brand when theyre using an LS engine, theyre demanding exclusivity for something thats not only not fully bespoke but its not even a exotic config like a V10 or V12 buts also one of the cheapest performance engine on the market.
Its a shame creating bespoke engines is not easy at all apparently. The Akylone Gentily was originally gonna have a bespoke V10, but they couldnt get the funding apparently so it became just another reskinned corvette. I love the corvette, but it kinda gets boring when every other smaller manufacturer is just using that engine.

I guess when it’s the convertible variant of a car, it’s much less likely to appear in a game than the coupe. See the 600LT and XKR-S coupes in games fairly frequently, but not the convertibles

But the GT1 class was being dominated by the Porsche 911 GT1 and McLaren F1 GTR the years before, and 1999 was the year of the infamous flying CLR incidents. Mercedes hadn't won in any class by then since 1989 with the Sauber C9. Only thing I can think of is that they meant the FIA GT1 championship, which Mercedes won in both 1997 and 1998 with the CLK-GTR and CLK-LM respectively. Cool car though, would look perfect in any Gran Turismo game.

I abandoned Asphalt franchise due of pay to win progression (Asphalt 7 was the last fully playable game), but i wish some of concept cars featured on 8 and 9 should appearing on another console games.

The only cars that are actually P2W are the *drive syndicate* cars and some *special event* cars. You can literally unlock the jesko attack, the gemera, or even the Bugatti 300+ just by saving enough like you would do in A8 and wait for the right occasion.
Well, Asphalt 8 isn't empty for exclusive cars. And may be we should get back to NFS Underground 1. Mitsubishi Lancer 7th generation, rare car for racing games?

Although there are many you can see similarities, saying that "all look the same" or even saying that all the cars in this list look the same is a severe lack of aesthetic sensibility and appreciation.

The LS is just that cheap and easy to make reliable power out of. If you're not doing LS to make your own ICE supercar or sports car from the ground up you better have a shitload of money to fund your own engine or have good terms/connections with companies that can supply good performing engines at prices lower than what GM can provide with their LS. The alternatives will usually be Ford, Mercedes-Benz, Toyota, and they'll only do business with you if you have a good history first with them unlike GM.
Fun fact: Koenigsegg used to power their CC vehicles with Crown Victoria V8s. Just shows how reliable and easy to work these engines were, same with the LS engine. Also many supercars share engines with existing platforms, like how the AMG-One by Mercedes-Benz uses what the F1 team developed.
