That’s definitely got some truth behind it. Whilst the Driver is technically the “hero” of the story, every piece of good he does ultimately ends up in tragedy and worse off than to start with. (Spoilers) He loses the girl he loves, nearly loses his life and looses his 1 true friend, Shannon. As for Irene, she loses her husband and the man who loved her, and is forever scarred by the violence she witnessed, and the Drivers abrupt disappearance. Overall it’s such a fantastic film, in my eyes the final message being, People will always try to do go, but most of the time it never pays off. Quite nihilistic, how fitting.
