Conan, these interviews are fantastic...please don't stop!
Whoops.
Just discovered them. Thanks for putting them on the AhYouaTuba
Rest in Power Edmund Morris. Found out about his books because of this very controversation. A fantastic author and a great interview subject.
Rest in peace Edmund Morris. You seemed like a wonderful historian
One of the best serious interviews I've ever listened to; a real joy and Morris's books on Roosevelt are well worth the time to read.
It's so amazing to see Conan in this forum. He's highly intelligent, well spoken, knows his facts and lets his guest answer his questions to his fullest ability without cutting him off. Conan needs to do more of these interviews, it's nice to see him step out of his comedic bubble. Well done, Conan, you are the man!
Jibber-Jabber reminds me that Conan is Harvard Graduate
Roosevelt alluded me as well until I read his trilogy.
Conan’s smart no doubt but you don’t need to go to Harvard to read historical biographies and compose thoughts about them
@@connorveach5986 lmao. yup, and you dont even need to go to harvard to be smart.
@@uxnosidda Yeah and Conan would be the first to tell you that too. He's even said that he's met morons at Harvard, so it's not a guarantee of intelligence.
I am currently on the 2nd book in his TR biography, Theodore Rex, and it is absolutely fascinating and life changing!
I sincerely love this show.
I actually never really thought about it, but if you look at the three late night hosts' backgrounds, it makes sense. Conan came up as a writer, so it makes sense that he has a more academic interest. Letterman came up through broadcasting, so it would make sense that he is interested in media production. Leno got his start as a stand-up comedian, so it stands to reason that his interests would be more "blue collar."
I love seeing Conan outside his usual environment with no pressure to be "on" and get laughs.
38:22 Conan dropping a bomb on a Pulitzer Prize author
Fascinating! Great job in catching the significance of this moment 👍🏽
This is excellent, and is yet another reason why Conan is the best talk show host by a mile. I'll take a fascination with history over cars (Leno) or media production (Letterman) any day of the week.
I'd love to see more lengthy interviews like this!
Conan is probably the only comedian/talk show host who can pull of a 'serious' show like this. It's so different from what he usually does.
Great to see how versatile he's been over the past few years. We need more of this stuff! Keep it up!
Now this I would watch on TV.
Conan the Librarian
Conan the Contrarian
Its always nice to see conans intellectual side, and when watching his talkshow I always get the impression that behind the sometimes really silly humor there is a great mind behind it. His respect for Edmund Morris is quite clear in this interview as well
I'm among those that would also love to see more of these. Especially if it's more topics that Conan's knowledgeable about. It makes the conversation all the more fascinating and edifying.
I had no idea that Conan was such a serious intellectual. I'm impressed.
I know now.
I love him even more for not making a big fuzz about it and not taking himself too seriously, when he clearly could.
Rest in peace, you wonderful historian
Where has jibber jabber been all my life. Not sure how I missed this
Conan please interview more authors!!! I
This must be what Conan can see himself doing in his later years, I certainly can, he's 50, maybe he's tired of being on everyday and working so hard. Brilliant.
I find Conan so damn endearing in this video
Kayle Pieght and cryptic. don't you?
I like this Morris fellow. I'm loving these jibber jabber videos.
I'm reading Dutch, great to watch this interview. Conan is just the best.
I've read Morris's first two volumes of TR's life and I've enjoyed them more than any other biography I've ever read. Morris is fair and knows where to put the lens, so to speak. I think it also helps that TR lived about 10 lives in his sixty some-odd years. Good stuff. Enjoyed the heck out of this video.
"The kind of people we have running for office these days have no historical memory, and very little culture."
So unfortunately true...
TRUMP
Well, when he said that, Obama was the president, not Trump.
@@myaccount4699 yeah but Obama was literally an intellectual like Edmund or Conan considering his background in University and becoming a professor
What is an intellectual? Apparently someone prone to the cognitive bias that is naive cynicism.
I love serius Conan. I´m very much in love with his wit and I certainly want to make up with his brain :D.
Come on you guys! Give Morris a break. I think he comes across as someone who's only being honest about his subjects warts and all. I liked him. THANK YOU CONAN FOR DOING THESE INTERVIEWS. I'm really enjoying them!! Mike from port, ore
So GOOD! More more more
Way ahead of time
rip edmund morris (1940-2019)
more of these conan, i know you’ve branched out into doing podcasts now but if u can do a couple of these i would appreciate it
another hour of conan. my day just significantly improved.
Discovering Jibber Jabber has been the best thing that's happened to me today. Conan was already an idol of mine. But this elevates him to a new level. What a legend.
Watched half of it now and gonna watch the other half tomorrow. Although I'm not American and so the topic doesn't directly concern me, I really enjoy watching Conan showing his serious jibber-jabber -side and showing that he can do much more than just be funny. His talk-show is always a joy to watch but because the show is so frequent sometimes I feel that the same jokes are recycled over and over again, and therefore it's definitely refreshing to watch him in a different environment.
Just stumbled across this, Conan. Yes!! Get back to doing these!! We know the other guy you mentioned, Mr. Bathrobe, wont be doing it anymore...
Yes Yes, this is amazing. Conan is so knowledgeable beyond his comedic work and this presentation needs more, even beyond Presidential history.
Loved seeing this smart knowledgeable side of Conan, hope he does more.
Didnt think id enjoy a discussion like this so much! Two very cool people.
Conan needs to get like 50 biographers like this on this podcast.
I'm liking this serious jibber jabber, a good in-depth interview about elaborate subjects with time to talk and no need for punchlines or constant humor. A nice change of pace, I look forward to the next one.
It takes a brilliant mind to do what Conan regularly does to make us laugh. He is naturally an intellectual that likes to have conservations like this.
I never heard of Edmund Morris until my Mom dragged me to his book discussion the day after his first Conan interview. I actually bought The Rise of Theodore Roosevelt there and he signed it for me. Since then I have been a huge TR fan.
This makes me WAY too happy!! Love, love, love this Jibber Jabber!! Thank you Conan.
Conan…. Extremely intelligent too. Omg!!! What an amazing man!
This is amazing, i wish the actual show was more like this.
Conan actually went to Harvard majoring in History and Literature
M3Lucky wow really
@@draftingsavant7190 yes.
M3Lucky wow really

M3Lucky wow really
Conan seems happier here than his TBS set.
This was really, really great. I hope Conan does these regularly.
TeamCoco, please plase PLEASE do this more often. Conan is a great interviewer, and if he gets more introspective guests, that could be some INCREDIBLE television and youtube entertainment. The next one I can think of is maybe Letterman or Carter or Dorris Kearns Goodwin. Please!
Very fascinated with this side of conan
This is better than the talk show.
miss these
I tend to get around Manhattan by bicycle (hey, don't knock it: so did George Plimpton). One day, I was crossing midtown en route to interviewing some nationally known graphic designer or art director or photographer...and on either 49th St. or 50th St. between Fifth and Sixth avenues, standing outside NBC's studios in that neighborhood, stood Conan.
And he looked completely, totally, existentially depressed. Or, as an executive producer of several national talk shows once told Tucker Carlson: "Do you know what my job is? Do you know what it really is? It is a very real and daily battle to keep a few multi-millionaires (that is, his talk show hosts) from committing suicide."
Fact: Conan looked like he wanted to throw himself in front of oncoming traffic. And that's no joke.
I loooooove that Conan is a history buff! :)
I like Craig Ferguson as well, he did an interview with Stephen Fry without the audience in the studio, I really enjoyed it and recommend it.
This really is great! Very interesting and I like seeing Conan's serious side :) Keep on doing these awesome interviews! :)
These are great. Love the guests you've chosen and hope to me to see more of these.
This was great. I didn't know much about TR prior to this video, but Conan and Edmund Morris manage to convey his character and presidency rather well
My favorite person talking about educational topics. . .perfect. I 💘you conan
This is good idea! I love to see Conan like this for a change
Great interview. I noticed some guy trolling here because the interview and its subject went way over his head (and his comments show that).
I've always been interested in history and it was cool to sit here and listen for 48 minutes about American presidents. It's cool to see Conan not trying to be "on" all the time because of the pressures of being funny.
Thank you so much for doing this. You're such a great host, whether it's serious or funny.
A conan podcast would be the great podcast in the history of podcasts. GET ON IT TEAM COCO.
I’ve just watched his 1993 interview and I get the set jokes now
is that NDT voice overing the opening?? If so, he has over done his epicness and "the cup runeth over" even more! lol
This is crazy cause not too long ago I stumbled upon these books & so wanted to read them. I had never heard of this man before & now he's doing an interview with Conan O'Brien. I'm not saying nobody else knew of him, just not me. Crazy, that's all.
These talks are awesome.
amazing interview
This just proves that Conan NEEDS to do a podcast
Now he is and its spectacular.
I absolutely love this! I think Conan should continue this as well as start a whole slew of side shows or projects. Continue Conan, start a political show, continue this history/biography program, create a new show based on his HILARIOUS video game reviews.....I can't be the only one who thinks Conan can and SHOULD do it all, right?!?!?!
These Jibber-Jabber series are excellent. Keep them coming Conan!
This is wonderful and fascinating.
A wonderful fascinating informative conversation with Mr. Morris. Please do more of these with Conan.
This dude looks like a mix of Steve Jobs and Stanley Kubrick
I know Conan has studied history, but it's still strange seeing him not flipping out.
I wish these would come back
Yes, Conan is my hero without having watched this. That being said, please send more.
This was very nice to see a different side of conan.
RIP Edmund Morris
It's amazing
That bit about the weight of the office of the Presidency changing a person towards being more well-tempered and diplomatic individual hasn't aged very well.
It has, actually, you're just too attached to the present to realize it. In a decade or two, you'll look back and realize you were foolish.
@INRamos13 I fail to see how the Trump presidency reflects that. Trade wars and disengaging from the Nato nations, which directly hurt American interest for years to come, seems pretty ill-tempered and anti-diplomatic. If you don't agree with that, then we can agree to disagree. I won't call your statement foolish. However, that wouldn't be diplomatic. It would be presidential, though, if you're going by 45's standards. I fail to imagine any argument which could convince me that the most powerful man, in the highest office in the world, getting himself into petty Twitter feuds and fueling the most politically divided American populace in history (perhaps excluding the Civil War) while the country and world descended into chaos is "well-tempered" or "diplomatic".
Outside of Trump, though, I do agree with Mr. Morris. Including the one who encouraged a crowd to storm a government building resulting in the death of government employees, there I disagree with the universality of his statement.
To sum up, I never said his statement WON'T age well, I said it hadn't at the time. Making a present observation doesn't make you a fool in the future. Given Trumps recent rhetoric of "dictator for a day," there's a chance for him to prove my point again come November.
35:40 Probably one of the most accurate things I have ever heard anyone say.
I had no idea Conan was this interested in history. My respect for him has gone up.
i hope you do this full time conan... damn good stuff
Morris said with Charlie Rose he doesnt like to do psychological bios, but childhood is significant...TR was a sick, weak child who wasnt ale to go outside or to school...no wonder he lived like a kid his adult life. Reagan's father was an alcoholic...one biographer said if you want to understand RR, you had to understand his father. This is biology...Michael Jackson had no childhood, was under pressure to support his family with a abusive father...no wonder he had Peter Pan complex! These men are human first!
Good point!
That was great! Keep them coming.
Absolutely love this. I can't wait for more!
If Conan ever stops doing his talk show I'd love it if he did this format.
Damn I enjoy listening to whip smart educated historians like this kick back and talk.
History and Conan... perfect combo.
Thank you for the great content, I hope everyone else appreciates this too
So awesome that Conan wants to do this.
Thank you Conan
Great series. Looking forward to more episodes!
Great interview, I'm going to look forward to these! Subscribing now!
Conan O'Brien is 500 times better than Jimmy Kimmel and Theodore Roosevelt is the greatest president of all time.
Wow I was not expecting this to be so fascinating and awesome.
i love interviews like this
