      +Sisu Jake Thats very impressive. I thought he would be like nornal comedians those drop out from school and start doing stand ups and then get a show or something. Going to Harvard is highly impressive.

      @@omargill2422 Even before his late night show, Conan has a very impressive resume. Harvard graduate, writer for SNL and The Simpsons. He takes the business of comedy very seriously. Actually, many folks out of Harvard ended up writing for SNL, Carson, Letterman and The Simpsons.

    Great Interview Conan. I was impressed with how much you shared of your own understanding and appreciation of Bob Hope. It is one of the reasons I have been impressed with you because you are a serious student of all things Comedy. Much success in the future and thanks for for this great series of Interviews.

    Back in September, I interviewed a WWII photographer who got to meet and photograph Bob Hope when he came and performed for the particular regiment with which he was stationed. Unfortunately, I was very short on time and wasn't able to ask him about Hope, but man, I could just imagine the stories he could tell about him. A real opportunity missed.

    This kind of shows how celebrity obsessed fluff is wasting real ability. Conan is way to good to be interviewing actors all the time.

    • @Yoshimitsu4prez
      @Yoshimitsu4prez 8 лет назад

      I understand your point, but really this is him interviewing someone *about* an actor. It could still be easily painted as "intellectualized" celebrity obsessed fluff

    • @rivolinho
      @rivolinho 8 лет назад +3

      +Yoshimitsu4prez I know what you mean but I'm referring more to the lowest common denominator, youtube viral hit chasing, childish BS that passes for modern day talk shows. Ok, so Conan certainly isn't the worst offender on that front, but he does mainly interview a steady stream of actors about nothing of any real consequence.
      Not saying theres anything wrong with that, give the people what they want etc, but let people like Fallon and Corden handle it because that's all they ever wanted to do anyway. Conan could EASILY do way more serious interviewing and TVland would be much better for it.

    I had that same image of Bob Hope Conan had growing up seeing him on TV specials with all that cornball humor. It wasn't until I saw his movie THE PRINCESS AND THE PIRATE from the late 40s, where Hope would be this fast talking irreverent, "modern" character making wisecracks in the middle of this costumed pirate movie where I realized how funny he was.

    I genuinely like Bob Hope. Especially 40s-Early 50s Bob, because those were the good movies. All of the Real Road movies were in there, The Paleface movies with Jane Russell, and many others. It was Hope at his peak. He wasn’t as incompetent as he was in the ever so hard to watch 90s Jack Frost song. A beautiful time, at his peak.
