I can relate, but it started with a high school game, and just holding the ball got me extremely attached to the sport. I have lost 3 different volleyball but got one back. Luckily I have some upperclassmen who like to play with me and it just gets crazy to play and how fast we hit and receive the ball. I think the obsession for volleyball has gotten so far I have the Mikasa V200W but it was on sale so... But I can relate to you so much. keep up the good work with the vids

Oh, I get you on so many levels. For me, it was a bit the other way around, though. I got introduced to Baseball through my uncle. He took me and my older siblings on a trip to Japan once. We saw a Baseball game there and it was SOO cool. Like, damn, Western Sports fans have nothing on that!
And then my bro bought a baseball, bat and glove set and we kept playing. Then we came to school, and were able to obt for one sport that we would play for the whole semester. I always choose baseball, but basketball always won TvT

I've been playing in a club and school/uni for four years now, since two years 3-4 times a week pretty consistently. It has benefitted my mental and physical health in a lot of ways, and gave me great experiences that I'll cherish forever. It's also crazy how all of this turned into a routine - I don't even think about whether I go to training or not, and if I can't go, something is missing and I'm sad XD. Volleyball has also peaked my interests in other sports, which is kinda cool. Also, Coach Donny is the best!

This is so relatable!! I played all kinds of sports growing up, but when I started college, I stopped exercising altogether. I also didn't enjoy what I was studying and became really depressed. After two years of suffering, I decided that I needed a change. I started playing volleyball in a gym near my house, and luckily for me, I loved it! Just a couple of months later, I watched Haikyuu!!, which got me even more hooked on the sport. Volleyball helped me rediscover my love for sports to the point where I dropped out of college, became a sports technician, delved deeply into learning about the body itself, and four years later, became a physical therapist. I can say for sure that having a hobby is so worth it. I'd have never thought that an anime about a bunch of high school boys playing volleyball would have such a great impact on my life. I'm so happy I started playing volleyball! :)

I completely get it. I started getting into volleyball in high school and I actually started training with my university team but bruised my hand pretty badly during a blocked spike that I couldn’t play for MONTHS. During that time university became more overwhelming, my hand wasn’t healing properly and then the pandemic started and I never managed to get back into it because I couldn’t find a team to join or didn’t have the time.
I love Haikyuu and always get teary eyed watching amazing plays or teamwork - already just the intro gets me - and it definitely rekindled my desire to find a team.
I hope to find a place next spring when new members are accepted and in the meantime I’ll just replay Pokemon, again 😅 I wish you all the best!

such a real video 😭😭literally helped me so much with my confidence and was so insanely fun.. i think though sometimes volleyball itself a becomes very emotionally taxing as you care so much about your own performance and when you play bad / don’t fulfil your own expectations it sucks 😭

Oh my goodness this is the first video I watched of yours and I laughed so much. And I also now love volleyball thanks to Haikyuu!! It only happened a couple months ago so this was very timely. I just haven’t figured out where I can play for fun. But hopefully soon! And your animation is wonderful - your replication of Oikawa’s jump serve was fantastic!! I will be watching more videos of yours!

I've always told people that I got inspired by the game from watching someone spike as I thought the game was just professional hot potato. But I know the truth; it was Haikyuu.. I started using some home gym stuff, got obsessed with it, and begun playing after COVID. Now I am on my college team playing as sometimes a Setter, Opposite, or Libero. I can relate about the whole serving part for two years, it was me but against a wall, chipping the skin off of a cheap Volleyball I bought, but I don't regret it at all, I had no sports experience beforehand and it helped me develop my arm swing from basically shot putting the serve to reaching. Fun stuff, fond memories and still a long way to go.

This is literally so relatable I am getting worried, especially the part when you said you got depressed whenever you couldn't go to your Sunday volleyball, because the same thing happens to me when I cant go to my Monday volleyball. What else is funny is I started to go to the gym because of volleyball. Great video!!!

This is so true 😂 I was on the varsity volleyball team in my senior year and the only thing that got me motivated to play (considering we lost basically every game but one) was the first season of Haikyuu, flash forward and I won with my team in co-ed intramurals in my third year of college-it really kept me going! I also got into watching Japan’s men’s VB team, which helped me with understanding formation better. Hope that one day I could meet or watch them in person!

Bro this video was like watching a movie of how my last 3 years have been, started outdoors on grass and after careful critical criticism moved to indoor and haven't looked back, getting on the court makes me feel like nothing else is around me, no one to judge me except myself and how i play. Great video it brought me to tears honestly because of how much volleyball has helped me too.

Literally same. I’ve started to play volleyball about 11 months ago. I got into it from Haikyu, but I also played it a little before with relatives. There wasn’t a team around the small town where I lived but 1 and 1/2 years ago some guys from my school managed to get trainers together and form a volleyball team. I am so obsessed with volleyball that I would play it every day of the week (If I could) and I always look forward to training on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I plan to continue getting better and playing volleyball but I have a long way to go. At least I can now do consistent and also accurate jump serves, my spikes are okay now and my receives are a bit better. I’m still working on learning a jump serve I can put all my power behind but that needs practice. In short, I loved your video I relate a ton to it, and wish you a good time improving at Volleyball! Hope you‘re having a great day.

I love volleyball as well. It’s the highlight of my week. Once a week i play with a group of people of all ages 2 hours against each other in random teams. I am still in school and wanted to start to play more in a actual club but my parents said that I would start too late to be good anytime. I to be honest think that that is a stupid answer since I am good in school and don’t have time problems. I just love it. Ofc I won’t do it professionally but like let me play moreeee. You encouraged me to find a way!!

I started Volleyball with 14, because I watched Haikyuu with my best friend at the time. I’m 22 now and I still love this sport so much… And the most interesting thing is: It gets more fun the longer you play. The way you can manipulate your opponents, change the angle in the last milliseconds, jump slightly to the right, cross the other attacker for a short ball… Man I really fell in love with this sport.
Really good video man keep us updated!!❤

I personally started playing because I was always inspired by people playing on the beach or watching the national polish team on TV when I was younger. I started trying to teach myself during lockdown in my tiny garden that only had a shed and maybe 7 ft of space. I annoyed my ma by receiving against the wall and hit the ball over the fence into my neighbor's garden so many times but then I got the chance to join a club that was like an hour away (I lived in a small town) and ever since I've been hooked to improve and now I'm the setter and I've recently FINALLY been able to overhand serve without hitting into the net or missing. I still have a long journey ahead of me but I'm excited to see what this new year brings to my volleyball journey

I can relate to that exactly lol.
    crazy life experience!
I got into it with my friend bc of the haikyuu.
started to play with our school seniors during lunch breaks (it turned out they got into the sport bc of haikyuu).
then summer break, playing with friend from the neighborhood that the seniors introduced us to every day from sunrise to sundown.
    hella pain in the knees.
At the start of the year, we built a team and played in real competitive matches vs other cities.
and after 2 years a friend got into a college with a scholarship and played there.
a few months ago we flew to the VNL finals, saw Japan and met with them after the game, talked to them, and got pics, (yes Yuki and Nishida too).
    crazy crazy experience.
    It really changed my life.

    Enjoyed your video.
Reminded of how much I was obsessed with Volleyball. I miss it, but sadly, I gave up about it, because of injuries.
Be careful bro. Do not make my mistakes. Knee pains, shoulder, and elbow. I went through them all and got a permanent damage in my right knee. I am 1.62 CM and used to jump really high, but not high enough to spike, so I decided to improve my jump, but training without a professional directon, led me to an injury.
I can still play, but jumping and dashing like diving (any explosive stress to the knee) makes it hurt and that killed it for me. How can I enjoy playing, while I am scared of making my knee wors. If you watched Blue Lock, then Chigiri Hyouma's fear of destroying his knee is exactly how I feel when playing. Multiple doctors directed me to stop (even traning leg days) to avoid making the injury worse.
Enjoy your hobby the right way and avoid injuries as much as possible.

It's funny how I have my volleyball in the corner of the room and started playing around with it while watching. Volleyball is probably the only sports I would watch and understand, so great video! I too, went to a park and played pathetically alone trying to jump serve. I still can't do it, but on the other hand, when we would have volleyball games during gym class, I had such a boost in motivation when I successfully blocked as one of the shortest students in class! Did anyone else's teachers ever told you along the lines of, "oh yeah, your arms are red and in pain? Then you're doing a good job!" 🤣
