- Beginning in 2018, Elton John launched the farewell yellow brick road tour, featuring more than 300 shows worldwide. This is Elton Johns 51st show in Chicago and will be his last in Illinois. The now 75, Elton John performed a 20 song set list with a 3 song encore consisting of his greatest hits of all time such as; Bennie and the Jets, Tiny Dancer, Rocket Man, I’m Still Standing, Crocodile Rock, Saturday Night’s Alright for Fighting, Your Song and Goodbye Yellow Brook Road. This is Elton Johns first time playing at Soldier Field and a sold out show of over 50,000 people.

I’m 16 and have been a fan of his since the movie from 2019. I went to see him in July and it was the best concert I’ve been to

@@kenthall5771 You should be grateful that he recorded it,,,,in it's entirety. He didn't have to do this. He's a very nice person to have done this. Why didn't your record it yourself if you wanted to preserve it for posterity? Could you have done any better? Sounds like you might be one of the types of "B's" EJ is singing about! For myself...and I think I speak for others when I say this...I am extremely grateful that he did record this. THANK YOU!!

Took my mom to see him at this show (first time she got to see him) for her birthday… she’s been a pianist for 50 years. I still cannot believe how much the two of us enjoyed this show. True legend.
Great memory for you and your Mom. My mother at 94 still plays the piano, a self-taught musician she was a Music Consultant to a Board of Education in her life. I envy you for being able to share with a parent this last vestige of great musicianship in the 21st century. God bless.

Had to reply to this because I did the same thing with my Mom for her Birthday as well. She had seen him before touring with Billie Joel which must have been epic, but this was my first time seeing Elton. He was truly incredible
I saw him in 1976 at the Chicago Stadium when I was 11 years old. It had a profound effect on me wanting to be a musician and I don’t know if any other concert had the same effect on me. Fan for life

R u from Chicago, been to many many concerts at the Stadium, I saw Led Zeppelin there. Well the show canceled after 1 hour or so Paige was either wasted or ill. I think wasted. I was 17 at the time I am 62 now.

Saw him 3 times on this tour, most recently at Nissan Stadium. This man is unmatched in terms of putting on a live show. So much talent and it is evident in every way. So glad I got to see him before his retirement.
Nissan was my third also for Farewell. Others were Indy and Chicago. Not sure I can stand not to find a fourth.
Just saw him in Las Vegas on 1 Nov. Saw him in 1974 the first time. He was phenomenal!

indeed richard...seen elton 1st time msg 1976...over 40 times since including 3 shows on the farewell tour...he still sounds amazing vocally and musically...the band is in there prime....glad he toured with ray,as well as davey and nigel for the last go round.

Thanks so much for recording this. We went and it was amazing. I’m always torn between “put the phone away” and “take some videos”. At the end I decided to put it it away. There’s always someone who will record the whole thing. So I get a couple pics and vid’s and that’s it. I’m here cleaning my fish tanks today and I’m jamming out again! Thanks! Good quality too! I know what you mean - I always opt for recording at least some of a concert, because for me it's the ultimate souvenir. (And maybe they can be posted somewhere . . . 😉) But I'm seeing this concert in London in the spring, and luckily I'm going twice.
(I originally booked for November 2020, then he announced some extra dates in December and I thought, 'Oh, why not?' After all the reschedules, two and half years later, concerts that were six weeks apart are now twelve days apart!)
So I'm going to record some of the first one, and for the second just sit back and soak it all in.
I've seen him before, but not for about thirty years, and I think it's going to be a long long time before I come to appreciate an artist in quite the same way.
@@markharris1125 I'd record the whole first show or your fav songs then the second show watch it. Unless he does something special then get it on film! I've done different ways. I've watched sets, recorded sets, recorded short clips of songs, recorded full songs.. and tbh i love having the concert captured on video because I love going back to it. I always find myself regretting not have recorded this song or that song because I always thought other people would post it but nope, not the case sometimes haha. But hope you enjoy the show! I like to record 30 sec to a min (a verse and/or chorus) then enjoy the rest of the song

I'd prefer people watch the concert, maybe only occasionally pulling their phone out the briefly take pictures.
@@sdsmt99 for real. When I saw him in July, I recorded 1-2 minute clips of some of his songs, which only equates to about under half an hour of the show I recorded.
It’s crazy that people spend a lot to go to his shows, only for them to record the entire 2.5 hour experience on their phones. Again, I have no problems with people recording some footage, maybe a full song or two, but not the full show, as they’re ruining the experience for themselves
i waited my entire life to see Elton. His songs made me cry for the firs time in my life, his songs gave me hope when i was lost, he songs surpass genres, time, generations, societies, cultural and racial differences, he is a musical genius that helped me find my yellow brick road. I wept like a child when he left the stage. He will always be in my life and my heart for the rest of my time.
And as I'm sure you no doubt know, the words he's interpreting vocally, and w/his 88's, are not his words. Most, {if not all,} are the work of the brilliant and gifted wordsmith, Bernie Taupin. So you have him to thank {along, of course, w/EJ,} for helping you get through good and bad times.

I saw my very first Elton John concert on October 3, 1980 when the 21 at 33 Tour came to Southern Illinois University. I have seen every stop in Chicago since the Ice on Fire Tour of 1986. I also had the privilege to see Elton at Madison Square Garden during the Made in England Tour of 1995. So it was very fitting that this would be Farewell for me at Soldier Field, Chicago in 2022. It has been an honor and a privilege to see Elton in person numerous times over the years. Most importantly, it has been a blast. Elton is the consummate musician and live performer. There may never be another one like him. Farewell, Sir Elton. Enjoy the Yellow Brick Road.

I’ve never been to a concert that seemed more like a love fest. Their was so much positive energy in that crowd and happiness was everywhere. This show was by far the best concert I’ve ever seen and Elton and his band did not disappoint. My first ever show in Chicago and it was done right. We witnessed a piece of history.
We saw him last month in Charlotte NC.
The atmosphere of 50,000 Elton John fans was euphoric!
It’s been 1 month and I’m still on cloud 9.

I have worshiped this man’s work since I was 15 years old…51 years ago. I’ve been lucky to have seen him perform twice, including at the Goodbye tour. Thank you EJ for making life better for this oldtimer.
I love the ending when EJ derobes and his track suit is revealed and he gets carted up up and away on that track off the stage! It’s at 2:22 on this recording. Such a fantastic show I cried when he said his goodbye’s to us and to Chicago .

Saw Elton's Kansas City show on this tour (plus two shows in the early-mid 80s). Was so glad two of my favorite Elton songs are being played on this tour, "Someone Saved My Life Tonight" and "Funeral For a Friend/Love Lies Bleeding." As a fan for almost 50 years, Elton's farewell tour is wonderful and bittersweet at the same time. People throw the world "legend" around loosely these days, but Elton John IS a true legend and his legacy is set in stone.
Since I was a child in the early 70s, Elton's music walked with me hand in hand through that decade, setting a standard other artists would have to reach for. His songs were and ARE magical to me and helped shape my taste in music. I love ALL kinds of music in my life, and Elton helped build that foundation in my mind, heart, and soul. He is a major reason that I even love music at all. I could never thank him enough for bringing the light of music into my life!
My daughter and I have tickets to see Sir Elton in Charlotte next month!!! She’s 19 and loves Sir Elton. I can’t wait!!!!

I was the Gillette Stadium show on July 27. It was an out of this world experience and one that I will never forget
Was at this! My Dad and I were at the back row of the floor seats on the left side (audience pov) It was a birthday present as I had turned 12 the day before. Unfortunately we didn't get in to the main part of the field until the middle of song number eight (Take Me To The Pilot) due to complications with traffic, and problems getting our tickets verified. so I'd like to say that you're an absolute legend for capturing the full show! Sending Much Respect, From Eastern Illinois!

I went to see him July 18th in Detroit (I was working at a summer camp so I requested the day off and they gave it to me, which was really special) at Comerica Park and am definitely watching the livestream of his Dodger Stadium concert on Disney+ when it comes!

I love Elton's music. I was fairly close to the stage in Central Park back in 1980 and it was amazing, but this "farewell" tour has been going on 5 years already ...say goodnight Gracie.
He's just "holding up his side of the bargain"....
He had to postpone it by 2 years due to lockdown. If not for lockdown he'd already be done. At least hes got his voice again now due to rest.

Thanks for posting. Not a fan of Soldier Field for concerts. Have seen Elton probably 50 x’s in both Chicago area and most recently half a dozen times in Vegas. He really does love to perform live…what a show. Missed Mona Lisa’s and Mad Hatters.

Fantastic stage design which works well in a stadium or arena. Great sightlines, ample volume and clear viewing from the nose-bleed sections. At 75 years young Elton's truly 'live' music still sounds full and well produced. A show of this magnitude deserves the 'IMAX' treatment as a live concert in the vein of the Stones 'At The Max'. Awesome setlist with a couple of deep-cuts and the rest are hits from a phenomenal 50+ year career. It doesn't get better than this for a true rock concert, and from now on it never will be by the original artists who made these epic songs famous. Enjoy it while it lasts.

Thanks for being able to watch this amazing concert again. We seen this fantastic show at Sunderland in the UK in June 22, the way it was set out , the stage was in sunlight and therefore we missed most of what was happening on the big screens. Didn't spoil it in any way, Sang the songs and shed a tear amazing to be part of a true Icon.....Thank you Elton and fantastic group..thanks again for posting...
Great job capturing the full concert of course nothing compares to the live experience. The sound was phenomenal and the staging as well. Best. Concert. Ever. (I went Friday night also went to the United Center in February.)

Incredible! Seen him only 3x live starting with The One tour in 1992. Always gives 150% to his shows including this one. Thank you for the video. I couldn't make it to his final tour. Just fantastic.

So great that he still plays Funeral For A Friend/Love Lies Bleeding. That gigantic pipe organ when it enters the song is superbly powerful, especially on the record. Back in the early/mid 70s i seen him live and he opened with Funeral and it was incredible as the album had just be released.
He can still do the a4 scream in love lies bleeding. Its incredibly hard but he can still do it.

I needed this concert today …. We are in the beginning of a home remodel and I’m already slightly overwhelmed, I’m just relaxing today with Elton.
I don't like to say good bye, it's something I can't handle even though I have done it so many times.... this is probably one of the reasons I can't go to his last concert. I have seen him live many times already and I have many of his albums and obviously his music brings me many great memories but I have the feeling I would cry in many parts of the show knowing I will never see him live again. Elton John is one of the Biggest artist of all times and even if you burn in a country where English is not was not main language like my case, his music and lyrics are so unique and popular. The best!!!! Thank you for sharing this concert

Sad. Last show. I have been a fan since I was 10. My first album was his first greatest hits. Later bought the song book to go with it and played all the songs. If I was at this show I would have balled at the end with Yellow Brick Road and all those pics. Thanks for posting.
