    You two make a great team and work very well together. You definitely looked like you were enjoying yourselves and at the same time still giving a very good run down of the G90, which does seem a good camera. Nice video clips and pictures. I had a G80 but swopped it for a Fuji XT30, you now made me want to buy the G90 at some point.

    This is a bit disappointing.. This is G80 with a headphone jack and 4 more megapixels. VlogL is pretty useless in 8Bit (at least it was back in the GH4 days), no 10 bit, no 4k 60.. However it's certainly a better camera than the G80 and if they're going to be at the same price level the choice is clear.
    What's also clear is your video - very professional as always!

    • @WexPhotoVideo
      @WexPhotoVideo  5 лет назад

      Hey Adam, fair points there - I think Vlog-L can be ok in 8-bit in certain environments, but yes, I too try to avoid shooting 8-bit log regardless of the camera! Thanks positive comments on our video anyway, and for watching! Cheers! KH

    • @Cagey7531
      @Cagey7531 5 лет назад +1

      You contradict yourself - "G80 with a headphone jack and 4 more megapixels" - then you say "certainly a better camera than the G80" - are MP the most important thing to you? Just goes to show how good the G80 already is, when there's not a tonne they could upgrade without matching a GH5. For a mid-range camera it is spec'd to the hilt let's be honest. There's plenty enough going on though as an upgrade - Better ergonomics, this is more important to many [inc me] than any video features, it now has dedicated ISO/WB buttons, better overall build quality, a new Live view composition mode, usb charging and as you say the updated sensor. The only con for me as a G80 user is the price ... £899 body only is expected! that is £200 more than the G80 body only was. Bad move by Pany right there. Why would I 'upgrade' to this when I can get a G9 used in excellent condition for same

    • @AdamKuzniar
      @AdamKuzniar 5 лет назад

      @@Cagey7531 You missed one key word, "however". I said the G90 seems like a very slight upgrade over the G80, which isn't enough for me to switch, but if it's at the same price point and I didn't have the G80, I'd definitely pick the G90 over it.

    • @cameradeal5648

But I'm talking UK, where the G80 was £699 and the G90 is expected to be £899, 2 years later and the updates are more just that, updates to remain relevant. Much as I'd love to trade my G80 for one I'm not about to be ripped off. I can get a G9 in the UK for the same money

    I currently have a G7 and there is only one thing I think really sucks on my camera. It's the dynamic range. My question is: is the dynamic range of that sensor in the GH5/G95?G9 etc much better as far as dynamic range? I rented a XT-30, which is about the same size and even cheaper than the G95 and I was blown away by the dynamic range. I'm honestly thinking about saying goodbye to those M43 sensor, again mainly because of their poor dynamic range. So why buy this cam instead of a XT-30 ?

      If you can afford the extra cash and you'll be doing more filming than photography, then I'd recommend opting for the GH5, not the G9. Its got way more video features than the G9 and it's also still a very capable stills camera. Thanks for watching! KH

    A fiddly joystick is pointless on a camera with such an excellent fully functional touch screen, they did at least upgrade the old D-pad to a control wheel/D-pad that looks much nicer to use. In fact the ergonomics are the biggest upgrade, with the addition of the ISO/WB buttons, button replacement [no more confusing the display and Q-menu buttons with your eye to the evf] - the grip looks chunkier and overall the camera looks a bit more robust, which is nice. The G80 is already excellent for the money, not sure I'd 'upgrade' to this just yet, not at the expected release price. It'll cost current G80 owners at least £400 extra for a few nice feature with a more rugged body. Not worth it just yet I'd say. G9 is currently better value and a proper upgrade.

    The short distance focus, or rather disability to focus, is a flaw in many (all?) Panasonic models. The lx100 for example even has a dedicated macro focus switch, yet had the same flaw as the G series. I’ve learned how to trick it to work without resorting to manual focus, but it’s annoying that the cameras software cannot do what the hardware is capable of doing.

      @WexPhotoVideo  5 лет назад

      @@cameradeal5648 I wouldn't recommend using any auto settings for filming, purely because I don't have full control over my image. When using Auto ISO you can often get harsh jumps as the ISO changes based on the environment, it also means that the amount of noise in the image would fluctuate - it all doesn't make for a consistent look in my opinion. If I was filming in a theatre, I would try to expose my image for the brightest lights in the theatre, making sure that my shadows are not too crushed, if they are, then I'd open it up more and prioritise what's more important- I'd also be shooting in a wide DR picture profile to try and capture as much information as possible. Does that make sense? Cheers, KH
