@@australianaquarist I’m not sure how I haven’t found your channel sooner. This is the exact type of content I look for, on the daily. You’re doing an awesome job! Keep up the great work!
really enjoying this build my friend. setting at the air port waiting to travel, what a great way to be entrained. If I am honest I am jelly of your warm weather and fish shop/man cave. any way here is my comment for the YT algorithm! back to watching!
They are definitely a forgotten about group of fishes for our aquariums, with of course the exception of the copperband. I think they just need more careful thought, in regards to timing of introduction, conditioning and feeding and minimising aggression
Great video Adam! I was thinking about your Islands and I thought a great plant would be Casuarina glauca prostrate ‘Shagpile’ you could probably mix it in with something else but it would look good trimmed to shape if it will grow indoors, you may need a good light, some of those small led street lights they sell at Bunnings might work as I use one to grow sedges indoors, I look forward to catching up with you in a week or so, we can chat then 🙂
That’s been a drama! I actually finished editing the video on Christmas night (having teenagers makes for a very different Christmas now!), only to have the laptop die on me before saving it. I’ve got my original footage on my phone, so won’t be able to redo the video , until I buy a new computer. Probably looking at one week now
Are you going to use a bell syphon for your tidal set up? Have you considered Samphire for your islands? I can't wait to see how this all turns out Adam, so less talking, more building!
This is the first time I’ve seen such a project on RUclips, although I’ve been watching dozens of RUclips channels from the USA, England, Ukraine and Russia for several years now. this is the coolest project in the coolest aquarium and I hope that it works out for you like you did! How much do you think this project will cost you?
Wow… quite the compliment! Thank you. Regarding the cost- if I was a rich man, I’d have the tank built for me out of 19mm glass. However, I am not and so this has led me to make the most of my DIY skills, and build it using plywood. I haven’t actually budgeted the whole building. I tend to week by week but building materials, so as to not impact the family income too much. I am keeping receipts and will discuss the costs in a video. I expect it to cost around $2500 , not including equipment
@@australianaquarist Thanks brother I got you. Let you know when I have the money saved the glass will be twice what a us aus flight would cost but I'm on the hunt for used pieces. Love the work!
I’ll be using 12mm tempered and heat soaked balustrade glass for this build. Glass from a glazier is very expensive. But glass imported by the container load for balustrades and pool fencing isn’t too expensive.
Sometimes the RUclips algorithm is a good boy. This channel content is gold. Thanks for having me. 👍🏻🇺🇸
I’m very pleased you’re enjoying my content! Sometimes it feels like no one’s watching, and it’s impossible to break through the big channels!

Good one! Hopefully you’re flying to somewhere like Palau, for a weeks worth of diving and pina colada’s! Thanks for taking the time to comment
Great vid. Keep em coming.
That’s the plan NBurgReef
This aquarium is going to look amazing when it’s done 😊 by the way, I’m impressed with frenzy fish food 👌
Cheers John
Love the build and butterflies are one of my favorite saltwater fish can't wait to see it finished

Does anyone know what fish are at 8:40 mark in the video?
Old Wives (Enoplosus armatus)
A temperate water, Australian endemic fish
Best detail relate fish and tank
Thanks very much!!
Nice video ! When will you be uploading the next update on this project?

I know right…, I’m waiting on the epoxies and figured I needed to put an explanation on my plan out to RUclips. What’s samphire?
Samphire is a native plant that grows on the salt flats here, and I reckon that there is a coastal variety.

She said yes. So when are you available to fly to Florida and help me build it lol.
Give me a ticket, a bed and a beer, and I’ll make it work!!
