This video is made up of three chapters, namely The Holy Land, Battle for Jerusalem and The Crusades Have Begun, of Farya Faraji's ( @faryafaraji ) brilliant new symphony, The Crusader. These sections are based on the 13th century Palästinalied by Walther von der Vogelweide, a melody that has been preserved to this day. I was honoured to have my Latin translation of Palästinalied featured in the symphony, and that's what you can hear in this video. Please go and check out the symphony - it's a piece of art and could teach you a thing or two about how the First Crusade went down! @@ΒασίληςΒλάχος-τ3κ well the Eastern Romans were greatly involved in the crusades, plus the Greek language had always been one of the universal and most important languages
Greek christianity never took part in the crusades nor understood the concept of crusade: armed pilgrims were a nonsense for them. Plus, the fourth crusade dealt a fatal blow to the Eastern Roman state, making sure it would never recover in a way to counter both the Bulgarians, the Serbs and, of course, the Turks
