Greek christianity never took part in the crusades nor understood the concept of crusade: armed pilgrims were a nonsense for them. Plus, the fourth crusade dealt a fatal blow to the Eastern Roman state, making sure it would never recover in a way to counter both the Bulgarians, the Serbs and, of course, the Turks

Out of all the ~40 versions of this song I have heard, this is by far the best. The only thing that could improve it is singing in Classical Latin rather than Ecclesiastical. @@SMiki55 I know, but I'm used to and prefer Classical. And if you want to be historically accurate, the song is supposed to be in Middle German.
