  • Civil rights leader and longtime US congressman John Lewis spent his life fighting for freedom and justice for everyone. In this illuminating conversation with lawyer and activist Bryan Stevenson, Lewis discusses the essential importance of voting, shares encouraging words of wisdom for the generation of young people currently organizing in the struggle for racial justice and tells moving stories from his decades of making "good trouble" -- at the Freedom Rides, March on Washington and in the halls of Congress. "When you see something that's not right or fair or just, you have to say something," Lewis says. "You have to do something." (This conversation is part of the TED Legacy Project. Recorded November 19, 2019)

I would love to see Bryan Stevenson have a series of interviews with influential activists that help us understand how we can each be inspired to stand up in courage and embrace their traits and lessons in our own missions for justice.

I am forever more grateful for the loving powerful man that the Lord created in John Lewis, John Lewis is a perfect example of humility and compassion through a long path and clearly the Love of Christ the high volume of an excellent spirit equal to the spirit of his creator in the Lord. A true soldier of truth and such humbleness, certainly a human being that so many millions can learn and amplify from his excellent example to apply from his life. down some tracks. He always had a heart for what is right and for truth, a great Christian brother

New Covenant Guy Hello, thank u for this link. While I’m aware of black politicians who do not look back with a helping hand. I wasn’t aware John Lewis was such a one. I was solely responding to this interview. I do hope that in the end he did have a repentant heart. I also know that politics is a powerful foe to those not prepared for that arena. I believe planned parenthood killed many beautiful men and women who could’ve glorified God. Even though we fail, our failure doesn’t disqualify us from being used and being blessed. Thank u! And God bless

Empathy and uprightness (integrity+humility) are the cornerstones of humanity, this TED legacy talk will advance the collective consciousness of the planet (and beyond, someday soon) irreversibly.
