I agree with everything you said in this video and it really opened up my eyes. Being someone who isn't skinny, I personally don't feel uncomfortable at Brandy Melville, I just recognize that the small tank tops aren't going to fit me and I should try on an "over sized" or "one size fits large" shirt. Also I don't know why Brandy Melville gets so much hate when nobody complains when plus size stores don't sell clothes that fit skinny people. Overall, loved this video so much!
Rebecca just like plus size stores were created for people who couldn’t fit in “regular” stores, brandy is for petite people because they couldn’t fit in clothing at “regular” stores. Brandy caters to a few sizes (not rlly since im a large/xl and can fit in some of their clothing) because it’s for petite girls from any age range. I’ve heard people that couldn’t fit in plus size clothing complain, it’s a real thing. Brandy does bring confidence to the petite girls that found it hard to find clothing before and now that they have a store that sells clothing that fits them (most) they are happy they finally get to feel beautiful in clothing that actually fits them. social media normalized the pretty model type girls (petite/skinny girls) and it’s not the fault of the naturally “petite/skinny” people. They hire people to work in their stores not models, you guys just think they’re models because of social media’s model standards. if it’s a petite store ofc they’re going to have petite “models” just like torrid has plus size “models” and fashion nova has people in the middle “models”
Rebecca you are correct, I think that Brandy Melville makes people feel like they need to be a certain body type to be pretty but I don’t think that there intention is that girls should loose weight so they can buy there clothes. I should have thought everything through before I posted my comment. I’m really sorry if I came across as ignorant.

mari noza this is also very true! Even though plus or regular size girls may not fit into Brandy Melville, the store was made to make petite girls feel welcome too!💗

ive only ever been to one brandy inside of a billabong but the girls there were super sweet and asked me if i needed help and were like "this would look so cute on you" every 5 seconds lol. even if it was only to sell me stuff, it was still really nice. and for the record, one of them was a short white haired blonde girl and the other was a tall black girl. so bam.

You're right abt that. I agree we need to work on incorporating more sizes. I'm guessing it's just because it's most efficient to make the majority of each category of products in one size. For example, tank tops are all XS, crop tops are all S, t-shirts are all M/L, sweatshirts are all L/XL. It's definitely not the ideal sizing, but that is just my guess as to why.

I personally am not the 'skinny brandy girl' (i hate me for saying this argh) but everytime I enter a brandy there is no way out without buying anything, even though I am tiny I always find fitting pants and shirts a lot. and there have also been a couple of times that brandy took photos of my fits, EVEN THOUGH I have curves and I am tiny! i literally never found a problem with brandy melville, and i do like how theres a wide selection of extra smalls and smalls bc i barely fit and that’s something that i cant control and something a lot of ppl don’t think abt. i cant fit in other clothing bc it is too big and brandy also has a selection of mediums- extra larges. i hate how people spread all of these rumors when they don’t think abt anyone else but themselves.

Everytime I go to brandy the workers are really sweet and they have cool style. I hate how people think they’re horrible girls who don’t care because that’s a horrible thing to believe. She seems so sweet and hard working. Give her a break

first off my fav song rn is selfish by madison beer. and i totally feel you when you talk about how people talk bad about the store you work at. i work at a clothing store that sells on more of a pricey range to a lot of people, and whenever someone walks by they always complain about how expensive it is and it kinda hurts my heart because it’s because of how the product is made. but from realizing what is being sold at brandy, it’s really not that expensive compared to clothing stores that i do know. and yeah not everyone has the money for it i understand, but you can’t just stereotype something if you don’t even know the story behind it :)

I agree with so many of your points and I really appreciate hearing a worker talk about it. I think that there is a much bigger problem with eating disorders and it is not anybody's place to blame it all on one store. At my local brandy i feel nothing but acceptance even though I am not that skinny. Everyone of the workers that I have had an experience with has only been positive.

i think this video really explains brandy well, because i've watched a lot of the videos you showed, and they've portrayed brandy not very well. i've never had a bad experience with a brandy worker, but i have been skeptical, so this video really cleared some stuff up for me! (btw my favorite song is prom queen by beach bunny, but it changes from time to time).
Everyone always asks what my favorite song is and i never know what to say, there's so many to choose from! Currently, I have been listening to Skin by Dijon, death bed by Powfu, and Reckless by Healy the most.

I'm glad you didn't say the company is perfect and you bring up a lot of valid points. I am fascinated by the company and have been wanting to try the products for awhile but almost feel like I am being shamed into not buying them. It feels similar to how I felt about Hollister or Abercrombie in the early 2000s. This concept is not new, except those companies were led by someone who vocally admitted he only wanted a certain type of person to wear the clothes. I felt so ashamed of my middle school body in a slim size 4 because of thise companies. This feels different, though. I really feel the company isn't trying to make a statement about size and just wants to cut costs and provide a line for petite women. It's honestly hard to find smaller sizes now. But maybe people's bad memories of more predatory CEOs is coming back to haunt us. I'm really not sure how to feel because as far as I know, no company spokesperson/CEO has come forward on the intention behind the concept of Brandy. I do wish they were more inclusive but those prices are insane. I guess time will tell if I will be willing to make a purchase.

I started working at Brandy At one of the Massachusetts locations like in April and I literally agree with everything you said. Also currently because of like TikTok there’s the point of views of Brandy employees being rude like you were talking about, so me and my employees have just been like making sure we’re like being the nicest possible and greeting everyone and just being like super on our game because we definitely don’t want anyone to think that way of us because that’s not true at all so I think just proving everyone wrong and having a good experience with the workers when they come in is great

I started working when I was 14 as well. I had to help out my family, pay for my dog's needs, and most of my own. You're strong and independent. You go girl. I think this video was very informative and you have a lot of knowledge on this topic. Some brands cater towards plus size, so why can't some brands cater towards thin girls? It can be difficult to find clothing for either of these body types so I don't have problems with either type of store. Keep doing what you're doing girl. I wish you all of the success in the world.
