SAFETY TIPS FOR TEA BAG ROCKET
• Flammable surfaces: DO NOT light tea bags on a flammable surface. Experiment should be conducted on a fireproof surface, like a metal pan.
• Smoke detectors: Do not light tea bags under or near smoke detectors
• Safety Glasses: Safety glasses should be used
• Touching fire: Do not allow anyone else to touch the lighter or the burning tea bag
• Falling ash: Be aware! Some ashes may be produced from the teabag, and they may fly into the air.

FOR SCIENCE!!!! :D
ROFL! 🤣 😂 😅
Well done! My son would like to post this to his Google Classroom class but this particular video isn't shown in RUclips under his school login. Lots of other videos on your channel are. Is there a content filter setting missing?
@@PPW-007 happened to me too
was the first experiment a physical change or chemical change
I love the guy in the background saving resources.
I appreciate the dude turning the stove and water off.
And cleaning egg off the wall with the look of: just another day working with Dianna! 😂
Omg yes XD
Right?, Same thoughts I had
I appreciate the chick doing all of the fun science experiments
And don’t forget using his head for static electricity hahah
Best part is dude walking around, cleaning up after the experiments. That would totally be me, enjoying the science, but needing to be safe and clean more. 😂
The tired-but-safety-officer-roommate. That's probably me.
If you watch with more detail, he was also setting up the next experiments like the candle, it was reused with the fork balancing.
For a few moments he looked a little like "Oh no, here she goes again. Better clean up after her before things get out of hand. AGAIN." :D
But yeah, that would be totally me as well.

What quarantine?
As a science teacher trying to teach remotely, THANK YOU SO MUCH! Your content is awesome and goes a long way in helping me keep my students engaged.

in science class we barely finished one experiment for the entire class session lol
let me guess: cuz everyone kept talking and interrupting?
This video is just me releasing all my pent up frustration from all the hours of science class where nothing exploded or caught fire.

I bet she was doing this for so long before she got the perfect run. Props to her tho fr this is crazy.
We practiced about 4 times walking through the order, did one dry run, one wet run (without the egg on the wall), then WENT FOR IT AHHHH.
@@physicsgirl Is the Inverse Joule-Thomson Effect valid?
J-T Effect states that there is a decrease or increase in the temperature of a gas when it is suddenly decompressed.
The increase or decrease depends on the Inversion Temperature of a gas which is Ti=2a/Rb (a and b are Vanderwaal coefficients) , if Ti>Tsurr then there is cooling and vice versa. (Most gases Ti are high so Cooling is most common)
My question is that is it true when we suddenly Compress a gas?
@@thecoolring6431 Not a physicist, but yes. The easiest way to test this is with an air compressor. If you attach a blow gun to the compressor, the air coming out will be cooler than room temperature due to the expansion of the air as it leaves the nozzle. If you let the compressor run for a bit to fill the tank, the cylinder where the gas is compressed gets hot, and usually has cooling fins to help dissipate the heat better.
@@thecoolring6431 Run an air compressor for a few minutes and grab a hold of the metal tube that runs from the compressor to the tank. Get a can of compressed air, turn it upside down and spray it all out at once then lick the can. Let us know the results.

I WAS ON THE EDGE OF MY SEAT, DIANNA
Damn I never thought your comment only has five likes
Nice Joe
This is great! I'm a middle school science teacher. I sent this video to all of my students and told them to do one of these demonstrations at home, record it, and write a brief report on it for extra credit. The submissions are rolling in! Thanks so much, Dianna!
Dianna:
Today, I tried opening 24 soda cans in less than a minute using your trick.
BTW, people in Walmart do NOT support physics.
oop
It's not very often I audibly chuckle from a comment but I did with this one. Reminds me of when I used to work at a grocery store and if they made me mad I would walk down the soda isle and light tap a bunch of soda cans with my box cutter. I don't know why I did that but man it was awesome!
😂
Regardless of elapsed time, this was a great demonstration of how to have educational fun.
The blowing "smoke" trick has been one of my favorite things to do since high school. Now my secret is gone 😭
I read about that in a magic tricks book in 5th grade from the school library back in 2000. I tried it for so long and was so excited when I got it
There's not much of a "secret" though... As soon as you show someone, they can see exactly how you're doing it.
Diana like: You rub a balloon on your friend's hair, if you don't need to stay faboulous for the rest of the video you can do it on your own hair
Great video for this moment, will definitely try some!
i like this interpretation better. In truth, I couldn't get it to work on my hair! We almost ditched this experiment because it wasn't working. For whatever reason, my helper Kyle has the most staticky hair. His hair was dirtier. Maybe that's the trick....

If you're stuck at home then you might wanna NOT do these experiments in 5 minutes, rather do them in 5 days...
Vaibhav Maximum
Or twenty days. This is a marathon, not a sprint.
This is a great point that i also thought of but was looking in the comments if somebody also thought this.
Egg-xactly. Especially since if you rushed these someone might get hurt.
Mass Debater
Yeah, those twenty days do not need to be consecutive. In fact, I agree that they should _not_ be consecutive.
I'm wondering how much actual science/progress might happen in these times where there is 'nothing else to do.'
This has significant historical precedent. When all you can do is think about stuff without interruption, some of the greatest thoughts ever have happened.
But I guess this does depend very much on the cultural mindset of the day.
I suspect that the current 'thinking about things' will be more about twitter and RUclips and Facebuck than anything useful; but kudos to Dianna for trying to point people in the right direction.
You are a brilliant and mad woman. And I and my kid are so going to try some of these. Personally, I want to try the "lava" lamp one. But put in some glitter to see what happens. Thanks for the fun!
I love it! Yay, hopefully you stayed entertained.
WOW!
FIRE VID DIANNA! MY CLASS THOUGHT IT WAS LIT!!!!!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Yes very grape!!!!
Yay! Just what we need for the kids. And ourselves. Thanks!!!
I loved how excited you were after every single experiment. Great video, thank you Dianna!!!
Diana is really really active, i always wish to have such enthusiastic physics teacher (friend preffered too). Her lively face creates an interest in what she is doing
Always loved her videos (lessons and science fun)

Your excitement for science is infectious.
(Yeah yeah timely pun intended...)
How much I love your videos is directly dependent on how enthusiastic you are about the topic and science in them. This one is off the charts!! Love it!!!
If you were my physics teacher back in high school I definitely would have been a scientist these days.
Dianna is making everyone's lives just that much better while we're all isolated. ❤️
Popping the soda can was really cool and I didn't knew that , cool 😀
There is not a more charismatic human on RUclips. Diana you are the Queen of Physics Experiments!
They are amazing, sharing them right away with my students in case they wanna do one of em..
Thanks Diana.. 😊
I’ve NEVER been good at physical science, so I wasn’t really into it, despite enjoying science overall, but I’m so glad I found you because you make it easy to comprehend and I actually enjoy learning about it!

You try and cramp 20 experiments into 5 mins.

She must be a blast at parties 😁
How to make the best of you quarantine! Aboslutely love it, definitely going to try some of these fun experiments!
Yes! Please do! They are so fun.
I watched the video at 1.75x. So by my count, you had 1 minute and 57 seconds to spare.
youtube magic
That's a violation of the law of physics, lol.
@@kluangh1tam Not really, that can happen if Dianna is moving a lot faster than me from a relatively stationary frame of reference 😂
Im fascinated that the impulse of the egg stopping is the same with the bed sheet as it is with the wall. The difference is longer time to stop smaller force, whereas with the wall the time to stop is small so the force must be large!
Congratulations that was an amazing feat!!!

"HAPPY PERSIAN NEW YEAR" to you Diana! 🎊
First day of the "Spring" is the beginning of Persian "Solar Hijri year". 🌱 🎉🎈 🎂 🍺 ✌
Heating the needles - locate the flame under the needle where the orange part of the flame licks the needle, and not the needles in the blue part of the flame. You could have saved just the 20sec you missed. What burns is the heat, not the fire, which is just a visual symptom of what’s going on. Physic that Diana! We love you!
....Subtract the time explaining AND travel time and you did it in significantly far less time.
You TOTALLY DID IT IN LESS THAN 5 MINUTES!!
Great Job!!!!
This video truly shows that no 2019 virus can stop a born science enthusiast.
You must have God like abilities, you win, with the best time. I would like to see a program on the tea bags in slow motion showing that ring forming and the lift.

I want all my grand children to watch so they can get interested in physics. You are the best ambassador of science !!
I wanna see some of these in five minutes per experiment - like I didn't know ferrous metal lost its magnetism when heated
Permanent magnets will lose their magnetism at high temps as well. You can ruin a permanent magnet if you leave it at high temp for a certain period of time or raise their temp past the material's Curie temperature.
If you heat an iron object above its Curie temperature and apply a magnetic field before it cools, it will stay magnetized.

@@jimsvideos7201 That effect is put to good use on a microscopic scale in modern hard drives, using a laser to heat up the spot to be rewritten.

Thanks Physics Girl, thankyou for thinking of us, and giving enthusiasm to kids to encourage them to go do something not screen related.
5:50 Ah yeah, high five and then wiping your face; exactly what is suggested right now :D
btw, since you've to stay inside, you can take your time for the experiments.
By that argument, since you're staying inside: if you are trying to beat the world record for fastest time to move 100 marbles with chopsticks you can take your time too.
Or are you deliberately missing the point, maybe?
On your balancing forks, you can light both ends of the horizontal tooth pick and it'll burn up to the edges leaving the forks barely attached.
Phisics girl: I'm stuck inside
Me: why
Phisics girl: i don't want to die
Diana get well soon and complete the next level
I'd rather see these experiments in normal speed rather than you being on fast mode and me/us not understand anything nor see how exactly it's done
I really want to try these experiments and I even did some but if I would the rest my mother would banish me so instead I have a request. Would you consider making a video on the strange crystal formation of bismuth?
Also my favourite person in the video (of course after Physics Girl) is the background person saving resources but my favourite part remains the part where she said Happy Healthy Physicsing.

Physics is real life magic. I am trying these with the little ones for sure!
I tweeted this, posted it to my class, and emailed it to students. Such a good video!
Needle demagnatization (sp?) - the needles were too close to the lighter nozzle in the colder part of the flame. Towards the end before loosing the magnetic ability, it appears the needles were closer to the orange/yellow portion of the flame which reached demagnatization. Demonstrating this experiment is one of the many fascinating properties metal has and will continually teach even the most experienced on the subject something new throughout their life. When a 1 inch bar can be heated up in the coal forge and moved into a shape just like clay, this is why I have fallen in love with working with metal. 😁
Loved the surface tension one. Imagine stranded on an island stuck in a well or hole or something and you need to extract some honey or something with a shoelace.....lol
Your experiments were awesome....

The teabag thing was super cool. Like a Chinese lantern.
Wow so good and interesting experiment 👍🏻😊😉
I work at a children's home, so I still have to go to work. The kids are not allowed to go outside for more than 2h (technically only 1h) every day. We're not allowed to have fire inside, but luckily most of these experiments are without fire
Thank you for this video Diana! :D
Loved it! Thank you for the ideas. You have a wonderful staff!! 🤗🤗😜
Who could possibly give this a thumbs down? Fantastic, thanks.
I just did the baking soda/vinegar/putting out the candle thing and I yelled "THAT'S SO COOL!!" and felt like a little kid again. 😊🖤
This video is underratedddd!!!!!
Thanks for helping us alleviate some boredom. Your videos are well done and inspiring.
That was cool. Gonna try those myself.
That was fun to watch! :)
I'm doing some of these with my kids tomorrow. Thank you so much!!
The tip of the flame is the hottest, and the best for heating pins. I love what you do, and love physics. Keep it going!
The Needles and Magnet experiment demonstrates the fundamental principle behind many rice makers. Properly cooked rice heats just above the Curie Temperature for the (carefully selected) metal in the lever that holds the "high" heat switch ON.
A comment below wishes Diana had been their high school physics teacher. Some teachers are boring. My college physics teacher was passionate and it led to a masters in physics and a lifelong journey studying this incredible world. Thank you to all PASSIONATE teachers everywhere, regardless of their fields. Their contribution to science, by inspiring others, cannot be measured.
