Thanks for this video, I'm slowly finding my feet with Alchemy, & mixing my sounds with happy accidents & sounds I'm after using this synth. I love what you created esp the bass mixing so well with the PAD & samples you added at the end. Very good video. I need a new keyboard though, using the on-screen K.B is difficult when using Alchemy/Logic. Anyway look forward to watching your hour-long Alchemy video
Hi scroez, thanks for getting in touch! Glad u enjoyed this video and the sounds I was creating. Alchemy is indeed a very deep synth, a bit tricky to get around sometimes but I really like it. The 1 hour Alchemy video has tona of sound design tips, let me know what you think about that one too. Yeah onscreen keyboard is only good when testing out sounds quickly, not good for long period usage, its like a last resort keyboard. ;) Happy holidays!
Sitting by the fireplace creating these super warm ambient sounds with Alchemy seems like an excellent idea on a cold winter day. Thanks again, it's a great way to get a better understanding of this amazing synth, even on a warm day in spring!
Composing by the fireplace is the best. I have the piano just 5 meters away, it's cosy. Today we had the first really hot day in northern Sweden, 20 degrees. ;) So it's barbeque and shorts time. Thanks for the feedback. Always happy to hear my content inspires. 🌞
I've been playing and recording music for a long time but I've been blessed to have people around me taking care of the sound design aspect of it most of the time up until recently. Now that I'm doing it myself I have a newfound respect for Sound Designers in general and the skillset required to be good at the craft. Your video tutorials are the best out there imo. You do not only explain how to do specific things but you also incorporate basic theory into it so that you can apply principles to whatever it is that you want to do. Thanks for sharing, I appreciate you!
Hi Gabriel, totally know what you mean. I was once there too. Thanks for the nice round of feedback on my video tutorials on sound design. I've been doing sound design and game music (and releasing albums with bands) for many years. It's my pleasure to share what I've collected through the years to the newer generation of creatives. I love doing these videos and articles and hope to continue doing so! I am lucky the channel is growing steadily and getting nice feedback on the content. More is coming! I appreciate you too Gabriel! It's thanks to you all the channel is blooming out. ;D 🌞🌻🌞PS: I also got a fresh new Alchemy preset pack coming out soon with tons of awesome new sounds! // Matt
@@MattiasHolmgren Nice, I will be looking into it for sure. I need some inspiration for programming a synth lead for my hardbass project right about now! :D

Hi Johnny, super thanks. I just started translating the titles and description to Russian since I see alot of subscribers and viewers from Russia. Its just google translate, nothing fancy but I hope it works. ;) Thanks for watching my videos, and thanks for the nice feedback! Happy holidays Johnny!
Hey David, thanks. Yeah, Alchemy is a great allrounder! Neat that it's native within Logic too. Not many DAWs comes with such a great synth. And capable of FM too! =) The move is soooon over. Move a few boxes and TVs today, almost a wrap. PHEW! Thanks for checking in!
Trae, I was baking an ambient cake with some weird ingredients. Always fun to have you come by and drop fun lines like that. ;) Glad to have u onboard! ;)
Nice Video Mattias! As someone completely new to all this, it can be a bit overwhelming, but I guess it just takes time. Is there a video where you also explain how you created the analogue arp?
Hi Koen! Oh yes, it does take some time to get used to sound design. Especially if you are new to the game (so to speak). I've been doing this for many years. Great idea on the analogue arp preset, I will make the next Alchemy video on this subject. ;) Thanks for the tip. I totally forgot to include that sound since this tutorial was about creating ambient pads. Happy to hear you enjoy my Logic videos. Have a nice friday!
Why oh why this amazing synth is now confined to Mac/Logic users only? I still have the old 1.5 version, the last one before the death of Alchemy's vast users base, it is an amazing piece of software with outstanding quality even nowadays, but it is not anymore a must-have state of the art leader vst in music industry.
Oh you still have the original 1.5!? Do you still use it? Yeah it was a tragic end for Camel Audio and Alchemy. Fortunately its also available on iPad, but its not the same smooth thing as having the app within your DAW. I still think its a solid plugin. But today there is many other superb vst synth / samplers like Phase Plant, Rapid, Omnisphere 2 etc.
Fortunately, Harmor is available for Windows, and it’s also... absurdly good at sampling and manipulation. I’m here watching Alchemy videos partially out of curiosity, and partially to try to learn more about Harmor, and I’m finding out that Alchemy is awesome (I figured it would be) and I’m excited to try it out at some point. I think Apple and Windows users alike are lucky to have such powerful and exciting stock plugins.
Hi Patrick, what version of Logic Pro X are you using? Might be a bug, because I double checked just now and if you select the FM filter in any of the slots (including) master page in Alchemy, the filter shows Note value instead of Hz. Glad you enjoy my Logic video Patrick! // Cheers, Mattias
Happy to hear it worked out for u Patrick. Did u check the latest Logic Pro X 10. 5 update? I did a recent live stream on it. The replay is up if you check my Discord. I Will also post another Logic video on granular synthesis with the new sampler today. Happy friday!

Nice quick exercise in pads, as always, thanks for an interesting video, Mattias! I also seem to see the title and description in Russian, surprisingly, glad to see :) Have never used Alchemy and even haven't happened to see any video on that just before this, and it seems, the synth is nice. It's so easy to attract me with beautiful interface, and here it's quite sharp and clear, like how you handle it. And yes, I like the vibe of the whole snippet, too. So cinematic and, in my opinion, suits very well to your new fireplace in the background :) As a side question: you use quite built-in effects in Alchemy quite deeply here, but in general, do you better prefer internal, external effects or it so much depends on the context? I think, I usually try to use external effects, as they seem to be a little easier and more flexible in manipulating and more future-proof in case I would switch to some another synth.
Hi Alexey, yes Alchemy is indeed a very nice synth which comes with Logic Pro X as a native synth. Neat! ;) Yes often I tend to use external (third party) effects like Valhalla Room Reverb, Trash 2 (saturation) and Replika XT as delay. But with Alchemy the included effects are quite powerful and does indeed sound very ”appealing” so I can use them with confidence. I always liked the convolution reverb included with Logic called, Space Designer and its available directly from Alchemy too. So it’s awesome. Nice interface design and appealing UI/UX sells me too. You work with your ears AND your eyes so it’s always cool to have some nice interface rhat works WIth you and not against you. ;) Glad you enjoyed the sounds. And again thanks for checking in Alexey!
@@MattiasHolmgren Yes, exactly, absolutely agree. UI and UX influence the creative process so much. It's quite important for me, as I personally have this problem of not usually so much enjoying of working on the track. @@MattiasHolmgren Hi Matthias, nice video. I just felt I should leave a few thoughts as I'm a long time Alchemy user. It's been one of my favourite soft synths for years, still is to this day. I still just can't get over what the developers did, deciding to sell to Apple. I guess I know under the hood there are improvements but I actually prefer the appearance of the older interface, not a minimal but still somehow seems clearer and more intuitive to me. You are not alone in these thoughts my friend.
