    Great play. I just watched a recording online. But the third act could have been more interesting.

    Prof, Whelan uses typical academic reifying jargon like,,,,,politicising the aesthetic space etc etc,,but it is dead language really, Oh to be sure i use reifying myself,, The idea that humanities subjects have to incantate and repeat abstractions for some sort of respectability is a blight on intellectual life ,It is the ritual repeated incantation I hate, It anesthetises sensibility & prevents thought & communication, Friel doesnt use dead language
