Finally someone in this community who’s focusing on quality instead of quantity…..lately I’ve noticed that all these booktubers are addicted to boast about the number of books they’ve read
I have never been a big fan of "reading challenges" or set goal for how many books I need to finish in a year. Reading is the most relaxing and calm moment for me. I just want to read because I love reading, not a number game. I'm happy to see content creator is also having this mindset !! :) Totally agree with reading slower approach 🥳

I've been following u for a while, and this video is FOR ME! I swear, I was struggling with that for the whole past year, and I decided to take it slow. I read 28 books while working and being in college, and I think that was a lot. I will be glad if I finish 3 books in 2025 but truly enjoy them... so basically, thanks for reminding us that it's okay to slow down :)
I've been reading Oathbringer for over a month and a half and i was getting anxious, that was too much time for a book. But this video was a quick but so efective reminder that reading is a pleasure, not an obligation. Cool video as always, keep it up!
really excited about book club ! also, last year was the moment i reconected with reading so i have no particular goals for this just keep enjoying the process except finishing the count of monte cristo that i recommand if you want to get into french litterature and 1 book per month seems to be easy but that will be better than last year
I don’t really set any goals for myself, when it comes too reading books. But this year I have decided to not buy any books that don’t really need. I have got myself in situations where I have bought loads of books, then end up getting rid of them because there is no space in my room. I now go through all my books and get rid of the books that I know I will never read again. The books that I wouldn’t ever get rid off is books by F.Scott Fitzgerald, Sylvia Plath. If I could go back in time, I would buy one book read it before buying another book.
This video was exactly what I needed! I have recently really gotten into reading and have found myself in such a rush to read as much as possible, as fast as possible. I was more concerned about my next read rather than the current book I was in. This is definitely due to FOMO. Thanks for this eye opener! Also would be super interested in a book club!
Thank you for the comment! I’m so glad the video help! For the Book Club we will be read Piranesi for February. At the end of the month I will post a video with the Tales and Tails logo at the bottom and everyone can interact in the comments. I have more details at the end of my Elantris video.
A perfect reminder for the new year! I always put pressure on myself to read more than I did the year before, so I will definitely be taking some time this year to reflect on why I read what I do. (Also, I fully support a book club happening this year!)

@@PeterOlszewski Set in Prehistoric Europe, 35.000 years ago The Clan of the Cave Bear follows the exploits of Ayla, a young human who loses her mother to an earthquake within the first pages of the novel and is forced to flee into the prehistoric wild. After being injured by a cave lion, she is found by a group of Neanderthals known as the Clan. she is nurtured back to health and later adopted by medicine woman Iza and the powerful magician, Creb. Like your decision to read slower, I had a similar thought that, Ive consumed so much content that its become too much ykwim and as always thered more and never ending thats why I decided that along with new things ofcourse mainly I'd be redoing stuff like reread the books that I really enjoyed and rewatch the movies and maybe some random episodes from the shows that I love i might revisit some of the youtube videos aswell! also totally up for the bookclub!
This year I’m making it a goal to read what I have on my bookshelf. I have plenty of books that I’ve bought and not finished. Booktube has made it so appealing to buy new books, and complete a large number of books in a year that, like you said, we forget to just enjoy the journey and absorb what we read. Reading isn’t a competition. I’m nowhere near on your level of 50-60 books read. Best I’ve done is 24 books in a year. And I was happy with reaching that goal, but then I realized, did I really take the time to enjoy the books I read or was I just hurrying to check off my list of books to reach a certain number?
Something I preach on my channel all the time. You won’t be able to read all the books in the world. So enjoy the journey not the destination. You can only read a book for the first time once.
Like others…..I too have felt the pressure to hit a book goal number. I feel like I am trying to rush through a book so I can get to the next one. When I feel like this, I begin to get distracted or even lose interest in the book I am reading because I’m thinking “What will I read next?” The struggle is real! And…..I definitely would be interested in a book club!
It makes me so happy the video resonated with you and I’m so excited to start the book club! Do you have any suggestions for books you would be interested in reading for it?
The pressure to choose has led to me not finishing books I was genuinely enjoying because I would see another equally interesting book and think "I should read this instead." I am the type of person who enjoys having multiple books going at the same time, but I want to be better at commiting so that I don't unintentionally DNF good books simply because I got distracted and pulled into another good read. Another way to help me decide and commit to a book is joining book clubs that I genuinely enjoy. I'm in a graphic novel book club and an environmental book club, and both clubs are fun, full of great people, and the books selected are right up my alley, so it helps me establish what books I know I'll be reading each month (one for each club) and then I only have to decide on a couple others at a time. I'm noticing some trends already this year: a lot of us want to read slower, DNF more, and focus on broad goals that aren't about quantity. I read 40 books last year when my goal was 50 but I was proud because that's the most books I've read in a year that I can remember. Plus, two of those books were 1000+ pg Sanderson books, so that counts for something! I knew reading Sanderson might mean I don't meet the quantity goal but his books are so good, it was a choice to favor quality instead, and that's my focus for 2025 too.

@ hmmm, i’m planning to read a lot of second books in series this year, but i’m wanting to get to crime and punishment this year - that could be an interesting one for a bookclub. or if we want something for fantasy/sci-fi then i’m wanting to continue the malazan books and the suneater books too 🤷🏼♂️
I read 84 books last year but I lot I don't even remember what it was about?! Which is kinda sad. This year I have read 3 so far but at least I remember what the story was about, what I liked and dislike about it. And I do try and slow myself down and really enjoy it.
Thank you for the recommendation I have been want to read the Witcher for a while now. The games are so good! I bought blood of elves 2 weeks ago because it says book one on the cover but I have heard it is actually the third book.
@@PeterOlszewski yeah it is kind of the 3rd book. The first one would be The Last Wish and the second Sword of Destiny. They're both collections of stories but they present the witcher world and its characters from the main 5 book series. And the games are amazing too. I can't wait for the new one the witcher 4 i think its called like that.
I read a solid 12 books and I was very proud of myself! If you did a book club would you interested in using discord or something similar? I'm not super familiar with it but I know it's great to block spoilers if people read faster than others!
Most young people here probably will not think this way. But i felt that as i aged , i would think there isnt enough time to read all the books i want within finite amount of years left. Just have to be selective
This year made me incredibly burnt out by reading as well. I think its because in 2023 I read 6 books and then 48 in 2024. So that 800% increase really made me burnt out so far. I'm trying to get back into it by joining Pewdiepie's book club though!
@@pranavraja9045 haven’t quiet decided yet. Still trying to figure out how to make it interactive and I kinda want to read so books I might not normally read. Nothing is set in stone though. Hoping to start in February!

FOMO is so real, regardless of what your hobby is. I learned I can only do what I can and enjoy the time I have. Great video Peter!

Yes bookclub!
The anthem of this video: CONSUMPTION!
Carpe diem!
I'd be up for book club! 🎉 🤓
That’s Awesome!!! 😃
I read a solid 12 books and I was very proud of myself! If you did a book club would you interested in using discord or something similar? I'm not super familiar with it but I know it's great to block spoilers if people read faster than others!
Book club would be great
Most young people here probably will not think this way. But i felt that as i aged , i would think there isnt enough time to read all the books i want within finite amount of years left. Just have to be selective
Interested in the book club.
Sign me up for the bookclub!
Welcome aboard!
Let's just chill
For the book club read "The Forty Rules of Love" by Elif Shafak.
Thank you for the recommendation! What’s it about?
@PeterOlszewski sufism and love and I'm sure that it will touch your soul
I would really like to join the book club! You could set up a discord for it
I have never really used discord so I still need to figure it out! I’m hoping to start next month so I will keep you posted!
I have the same problem and trying to accept that I will not be able to read all the books in my lifetime anyway since they publish so much.
Pushing through the books is such a waste of a potential. It doesn't matter, enjoy and slow down!
book club lfg
not to be that person but that's not how u use to and too lmao 😭😭
This year made me incredibly burnt out by reading as well. I think its because in 2023 I read 6 books and then 48 in 2024. So that 800% increase really made me burnt out so far. I'm trying to get back into it by joining Pewdiepie's book club though!
I saw that video! His book club sounds great! I like that he is rereading his favorite books and experiencing them along with his viewers.
@ His books are all classics though so I might be cooked since most are really verbose. What books would you make ur book club have btw???
@@pranavraja9045 haven’t quiet decided yet. Still trying to figure out how to make it interactive and I kinda want to read so books I might not normally read. Nothing is set in stone though. Hoping to start in February!
@ That’s great!!!
Thank you for this video it was great ,and i'm waiting for the book club🤍
Thank you for the support, I'm so glad you enjoyed the video! I’m excited to get started on the book club soon! I’m looking to announce the first book in February!
