Great to be included in this Metal School documentary, on behalf of Burning Starr members, past and present , a big thanks for introducing us to all of those who might have missed us back then, in 1984 when I started the band I would never have thought anyone would be talking about us or listening to our music in 2022 so it's really very cool for this to happen and Metal School for doing a great job on this documentary, Metal On

Great video. Like my friend Mike, I am honored to be included. I bought Jack's Out of the Darkness album way back in 1984, which is how I knew about him to put my hat in the ring as his new vocalist for the Defiance album. Joey from Manowar ended up selecting me. When I met Jack in person for the first time, I had him sign my cassette. 😁
Kind of funny that both Mike and I went on to sing for Riot and that Rhett sang for Riot also.
    Keep up the great work!

I was first introduced to Burning Starr through my friend Bass, who was in the Blaze Of Glory line up. Turned out I went to school with Mike and Jim was from my neighborhood. I had the honor of seeing the band perform many times and they quickly became one of my favorite bands to support back then and i still support the band members now in all that they do. I still love their music and the memories I have from back in the day. I still consider them all dear friends. So glad to come across this documentary, it brought a smile to my face as I relived my experiences with the band. I still listen to my disc's, especially NY Woman and Tear Down The Walls, my favorites. Love the videos also. Now I'll have to hunt down the few albums on this list that are missing from my collection.

Thank you for clearing that up. He was on a different career path when i had last seen him. I greatly miss Bass. He always could make me smile and was such a kind soul. I was devastated when he passed.

Sadly Metal music is littered with bands and artists that never got their moment in the spotlight and Jack Starr is certainly one of them. This guy can play and many, many more Metal Heads should be aware of him and his music.
I also echo some of the comments from fellow posters in saying that later day Burning Starr is superior to the initial offerings. The over arching Power Metal sound is writ large across the last three albums and they are easily as good as those issued from bands such as Primal Fear and Hammerfall.
Lastly, yet another superb Metal history form Metal School. These videos just keep getting better and better! Can you do the mighty Grave Digger soon please!🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻

I discovered Jack Starr's "Out of the Darkness" a few years back while looking around for more Riot albums to listen to. I read that Rhett Forrester was on the album, so I had to listen to it. I've listened to all the Burning Starr albums since then, but "Out of the Darkness" is still my favorite (I call it a Burning Starr album) The song "Concrete Warrior" off that album is part fighting, part partying, and it rules, no on can deny it!
Later finding out that Todd Michael Hall was singing for both Burning Starr and Riot V just made me smile. Sometimes it's just meant to be. Great video! Now I'm going to go listen to some "Sands of Time" because I keep hearing it in my head from typing this.

Thank you for being as talented as you are and sharing it with everyone. New York American metal is my personal favorite type of metal. I don't know what it is, but the heavy bands out of the New York scene from the late 70's through about 85' just encapsulate what music should sound like to me. You guys just did it right, and continue to do so.

Something that might be easier to get info on though could be the story of a label like Shrapnel or Metalworks or Azra, just ideas, cheers

1987, Frank Vestry did a side project of a 4 Track Demo with his own band called Devias. That Demo has to be one of the most underrated "albums" out there. It's a shame it didn't blow up. Could been huge just like Winger or Giant. You name it!
