ITB’s look so good in an engine bay, sounds good too!
Well sound is one of the key reasons install ITB's on an MX-5 right? :-P
Awesome video guys. I've been waiting for this.
My pleasure! Thanks for watching Jonathan.
Thats sounds mental :O I want ITBs now haha.
Thanks!
Get ready for some serious hearing loss, I've had jenvey itbs on my 1.6 for nearly a year and now have constant ringing in my ears 🤣
Just installed some Piper fast road cams which have made them even better!
Haha! He usually runs some foam filters which brings the noise down a bit :-)
If you ever wanna get rid of the 1.6 setup, let me know, been looking for a used set :) Also, where did you purchase your ITBs from?
🤦🏻♂️ this is madness…
@@anisalikhan Why madness?
One of the cleanest NA's I've seen. Mad props!
Thanks for watching. :)
Awesome car!!
I wish to do this in the future😍😍
You can do it Beatrice!
Glorious noises!
I'm pretty sure that's the main reason people install these on their cars. :)
Cool sounding and it seems like a unique Miata
It looks super neat and sounds pretty amazing. I love the wheels on this thing.
Another great video Brendon 8¬D . When are you going to do an ITB conversion??? Looks and sounds absolutely awesome. Hey, more out-takes please ¦¬D !!
Haha, ITB's not for me, at least not for now Phil... already got too many cars and not enough time/space/money .
Now a 6 speed with close ratio
And a 4.56 rear differential ratio….
💪🏽👍🏽
Beav should definitely do an ITB build for one of the many mx's in his stable
To be honest, I just don't see the value for the effort and cost personally.
That sounds like a proper sports car!
Yeah it's turned out to be a a neat little car!
When he drives it out, does he put any kind of air filter over them?
For normal street use, it runs foam filters on the end of each trumpet.
BEAVIS Motorsport that doesn't hurt performance?
hidden KARD probably, but it’s a lot better than having a pebble in your cylinder head
Sounds like it has a huge flat spot just off tip in. Not very snappy, kinda lazy . A little more tunning and you got it.
Cool car thow
The owner is certainly getting close to having a neat car now. :-) Thanks for watching Stephan!
my old wheels!!
Haha famous!
that dude looks high AF
Maybe he's high, maybe the top down driving has caused too much wind in the eyes.
Very cool!! Certainly sounds nice, but does it make any more power? 😊
No, probably not.
Very very nice, especially the sound! Looking at the AFM gauge, running very close to lean condition?
not under load
I'm not sure if his AFR / o2 setup was miss calibrated or something but there were a few times where the readings seemed a little off. I am assured the car has been properly tuned so I have no doubt it is safe to drive hard.
Yea I saw that too. I was like he might want to be running like between 12.8-13's-13.5 in high RPM wide open throttle at the leanest, not 15.5 AFR lol
I know naturally aspirated can even get away with just stoich 14.7's WOT all day as long as it's a conservative tune but even at that, it's better to be a little richer than stoich in the higher rpm's. Heat builds up fast at stoich AFR and can increase chance of detonation
I want this SO bad! Love every bit of the car :)
Are there any power figures now that it has the ITB's?
Hey Marrias, the car has been street tuned, so I'm not aware of any dyno run nor power figure. Nothing outrageous though - maybe around 100rwhp.
Ahh :) I'm yearning to do something like this on my own, some day.. Will probably try to find a nice 1.8 as a base.
So for the valve cover u got two air filters where vacuum lines used to be does that affect the motor did u have to get it tuned?
They are the PCV breathers, not critical in a naturally aspirated car to have them vent back through the inlet like they are in stock form. It doesn't hurt the ecu tune to have them vent like that.
Where can I find the parts for those headlights?
They are the Moss Miata Low profile headlights.
You should check out Gingium's channel and see his jeep led sleepy eye install. It's a cleaner look imo. But at least check it out in case you like it more.
how did you manage to get the na6 mated to that silvertop itb?
The owner covers the adaptor in part 1 here: ruclips.net/video/o5M3eVB23Vg/видео.html
6:08 7k rpm full throttle, 15 AFR? good luck xD
Nebbia affaraccimiei not turbo so doesnt matter. As long as it's between 13-15 it's ok for NA.
lol, EGT ARE a problem even on NA. mazda mapped these at less than 12 AFR for a reason. you can beat on them all day at the track.
Mapped at sub 12 afr cause they used prehistoric technology such as the flap style AFM. Aspirated cars should have 13-14 afr ideally, car won't explode at 15.
There were a few moments where AFR seemed a litttle off, i suspect perhaps the wideband o2 may be miss calibrated. But for the most part the numbers were not too bad.
Beavis is correct. The wideband gauge is more for show than anything (not used for tuning) and uses a different grounding point to the wideband causing a voltage offset, so the reading is leaner than it actually is.
Awesome, almost like a 4age but not quite
Yeah kinda a poor mans 4ag
I’m more interested in the vanity panel he’s got installed on his heater control panel. What’s the deal with that piece?
Google Jass miata heater panel
Hey. Anyone out there help me? My idle is a bit off, assuming it's the throttle bod. Have tried to clean it but butterfly is closed and hard to get in,can anyone tell me how to get it open(is there a manual lever I'm missing?)without taking off? It's a MK3 2007....
Probably need to talk to a mechanic Don.
@@Bbeavis All sorted. The day I decided to take it back garage it decided to play nice. It was on the forecourt for several months....
I am looking to build my 1.6 motor, any recommendations ? ITB's or turbo ? I just want to make a Reliable car
If you "just want reliability", then avoiding forced induction is probably a good idea. But really, you can do whatever suits your budget, if you are planning to spend $10k you can do quite a lot, if you only want to spend $1k then you aren't going to get much more than some headers and an intake setup.
Can you supply a parts list for his conversion? Thanks!
All the detail that i can offer is in the videos, check out part 1 for more details on the parts used. ruclips.net/video/o5M3eVB23Vg/видео.html
Does it have aftermarket cams? if they are stock why are using short intake runners?
Hi TechSalvager, I believe he is running the OEM mazda cams, which yes may mean the ITB setup is a little compromised, but lets be honest - he's built it for the fun and the sound more than the potential power gains. Thanks for watching!
BEAVIS Motorsport thanks for the video, was it tuned on a dyno? Realistic power gains with itb tune exhaust alone ? Throw cams in ? Maybe 35hp 15tq?
Driving without engine air filter, courageous.
Yeah, and that's coming from Mr Adventure himself!
I hear that the real benefit of itbs was really quick throttle response, not hp gains. Did you notice if that was the case?
It is far more complex than most realise, and naturally aspirated engine tuning is a very fine art, ITB's on a B6/BP reward an engine that has a lot of clever work to the head to help it breathe. But yes, in summary, throttle response should be very sharp.
ok what is that blue called? im in the US and just recently bought a 1990 that was originally white but was painted a very light blue, very similar to this one.
Mazda factory blue was called "mariner blue". This is a custom paint job however, not a factory colour.
@@Bbeavis mines custom as well from the original owner and i wish i knew what color code mine is so i could have it redone.
Yes....luv me ITB's. Who needs a radio. Sheer music. Bugger the turbos. Less power, but, wow. A joy to drive. (I got 'em on mine). Just finished the ITB instal on my 350Z, but no sucky noise, sooo disappointed. Oh well, still runs better. Pops, snarls and cackles, prolly needs a dyno tune - which it'll get. That's a bloody nice MX5
Ohh a 350z equipped with ITB's would be quite a nice experience I'm sure!
😚is it possible to put a turbo with the carbs
This is perhaps not the best place to ask such a question, as this car has neither a turbo, nor carburettor.
I had this on my mind, can you use a throttle body for a dimly driver miata. why or why not thx
Hi Mother Herd, I'm honestly not sure if that is a question? Or what you are actually asking?
@@Bbeavis srry my phones keyboard is small.
I was asking if you can have a itb in a stock daily driver
@@Bbeavis did some research, ya dont think so.
Thx for testing. Nice job through great video with allot of detail
Does anyone know what kind of trunk he has?
Hey Noah, pretty sure it's the carbon miata integrated ducktail trunk.
www.carbonmiata.com/shop/mazda-mx-5/trunk-low-ducktail/
I wanna do ITBs on my VVT 1.8. I live two suburbs from Eltham so may drop on in one day.
Ahh so close to home, come to an Roadsterzoku MX-5 Melbourne meet sometime and say hello :)
Hey matube, feel free to come down to the shop, see the car and have a chat 👍
What hp gains can we expect just from itbs and standalone ecu??
It is somewhat subjective, but maybe 10% increase, mostly at the top end. You would need to do more than just the ecu for the greatest benefits from ITBs.
4:35 for sound
Thanks Francisco, hope you enjoyed the video!
super cool definitely planning on putting ITBs on my miata
A cool video would be to try doing a dyno with a few different velocity stack lengths to see what works best across the rev range.
I have a hunch for street use you would want longer stacks. But it's a total guess based on no training or practical experience.
Maybe don't listen to me.
That would be cool! Sadly the owner has sold the car now.
How much power does it make?
It was street tuned and has not been dyno'd to get an idea on power... but probably only a little more than stock - at a guess around 70-80rwkw.
What would the gains be. From no mods to this and tune?
In this case, not a lot of an increase. The oem mazda 1.6l motor isn't much of a motor, and the addition of the ITB's offers only minimal gains unless the rest of the motor is built to make the most of the intake upgrades.
@@Bbeavis I had itbs and stage 2 head etc given me 185 at the fly from 1.8
What's the digital gauge on the right hand side vent?
Air Fuel Ratio gauge.
I was hoping it wasn't. 15:1 AFR at 6,000rpm? um
it is lol, very very lean btw. need a tune.
Indeed, it is the Air Fuel Ratio. I'm not sure if his AFR / o2 setup was miss calibrated or something but there were a few times where the readings seemed a little off. I am assured the car has been properly tuned so I have no doubt it is safe to drive hard.
Did you ever get any soft pedal issues?
Nothing that i've heard of or noticed. But this car is no longer around.
Do I hear a faint squeak in the linkage?
No disrespect...I would love to do this to my 1st Gen.
She sounds great!
Thanks!
You'd REALLY benefit from having a sort of scoop in your bonnet
Unfortunately this car is no longer as the owner sold it off in parts.
it sounds amazing. what exhaust?
Not sure sorry mate. The car has since been scrapped sadly.
@@Bbeavis bummer :(
i have the exact same stereo in my whip lol
Ahh, haha, thanks for watching Kyle!
np man, dope buid and i legit laughed to my self when i say your speaker, i was like damn son, im rocking the same set up
Hey man! Just curious. About how much do you make in whp with the ITBs?
The owner never Dyno tuned the car. But I'd guess about 70rwkw/95rwhp. The rest of the engine was untouched from the factory setup so the engine could never really benefit from the ITB strengths with higher revs and bigger cams.
he is running 14 15s afr under WOT ... thats way to lean ???
Bad AFR gauge maybe?
6:14 you got a 15 on the AFR it's a bit lean mate
Hey Oscar, the wideband gauge on Zacs car is more for show than anything (not used for tuning) and uses a different grounding point to the wideband causing a voltage offset, so the reading is leaner than it actually is.
oh ok that figures
15 is hardly lean under cruise and light to medium loads, a non issue
Any idle control?
Unfortunately I'm not sure what he is using for idle, I'm pretty sure there isn't any idle bypass systems setup... perhaps just timing adjustment? Thanks for watching EuroTrash.
Idle control is done purely through ignition advance. While not perfect it works adequately.
OMG WHAT'S HE DOING HE'S ON THE WRONG SIDE OF THE ROAD
oops
Lol
Be careful with ITBs, they only unmask a poor flowing cylinder head by the sound at high RPM..
I think in this case, the owner wasn't chasing ultimate performance, just a neat and unique build.
True and sad, but still wonderful change and a lot of fun and nostalgia
sounds like takumis ae86 from initial d haha
Haha, so, awesome then?
@@Bbeavis yes, amazing :D
Do you have to tune the car after you install the itb's
Generally, yes.
no dyno video??
Hey Varo, sadly the owner hasn't had the car on a dyno so that was a no go.
it's a shame, I would have liked to see what power was left
I'm considering doing ITB my miata but I do not decide ..
Is it still reliable??
I think the owner crashed the car and ended up stripping it for bits.
Needs to be road tuned. It's not right, and it shouldn't be stalling at initial throttle. Its cool, but still not right.
As I understand, it has been road tuned, and runs reasonably ok now. There is a wideband O2 gauge in the video in a few scenes, but the owner advises that it's a little out of calibration... but for the most part it seemed to drive ok from me sitting in the passenger seat.
mmmmm hello.. im here for the memes :D
Come for the memes, stay for the noise.
check out my "worst comments" video for juicy memes, oh yeah and by the way ur in it haha. one of your comments. I couldn't spell ur name so I made a meme out of the moment.
Your mustache deserves more attention.
I hope that AFR is wrong, he’s mid 14’s at full throttle
I'm not sure if his AFR / o2 setup was miss calibrated or something but there were a few times where the readings seemed a little off. I am assured the car has been properly tuned so I have no doubt it is safe to drive hard.
Beavis is correct. The wideband gauge is more for show than anything (not used for tuning) and uses a different grounding point to the wideband causing a voltage offset, so the reading is leaner than it actually is.
Great car, have you dyno'd it? Too bad about your steering wheel. It's on the wrong side, Bro!
The car was never dyno'd and has since been sold and stripped apart sadly.
B6ze>4age
Hahha, I'm sure a lot of people on the internet would disagree with you.
So sad that it's slow since it's na.
It's an MX-5, being slow is it's calling in life :-P
BEAVIS Motorsport tell that to Greg Peters :)
Perhaps you should look at some of my cars (I don't own the ITB car in this vid) - I'm very familiar with higher powered MX-5's - check out my turbo MX-5 for example.
Other than sound & looks.
I don't see the point.
Could have gone a more powerful route. IE. Forced induction, high compression. Etc. Imo
Yes, I'm pretty sure the main reason people install these on their cars is for the noise. :)
>thinking that itbs are purely for horsepower
Good job.
resting your hand on the shifter - really?
less music but more tech and explanations, please!
and links to the hardware.
Hey Mixalis, Full build specs are in the video at 7:52
thanx-a-lot.
Sounds fast butt it aint 🤣
Yeah pretty much :-)
How much power does it make?
The owner never dyno'd it, but somewhere around 100hp or so probably.
@@Bbeavisat the wheels? If it is, then its nice.
