I needed this inspiration! My 3.5 y.o. daughter is interested in learning and homeschooling, but it’s felt overwhelming with my 1.5 y.o. dropping her morning nap and really working to grow our family businesses. This video doesn’t look as intimidating as I have been thinking it is 😂 I just need to make time for it while also keeping up with the house work. I’d love to see how you structure your time to keep up with laundry, daily house maintenance, and seasonal projects, like swapping out kids clothes, etc. while caring for and homeschooling your children.
Thank you for this video! I am pregnant with our 3rd and my 3 year old has been non stop talking about going to school. Ive decided to home school and have been feeling overwhelmed with where and how to start. I naturally wanted to let her interests take the lead as I feel they are right in line with the direction she would go in a traditional school setting. Seeing you juggle this with basically 4 kids really gives me motivation and inspiration.
We've met SO many homeschool families at our local library. We go to the library frequently and we also go to a lot of free local things like farms and such. The only people out during the day are other homeschool families.
Hi I'm a home school mom. I honestly started teaching my kids at the age of 2. They are never to young to learn. At 2 you can work on fine motor and gross motor skills sorting matching colors, animals, shapes. Shape sorters shape puzzles wooden beads playdough counting to 10. My youngest actually knew her colors at 1. I do mostly hands on and play based learning. Love this video. Your kids are adorable 🥰
I loved your definition of unschooling! Mine loved read alouds! “Tea Time” is such a great idea! Loved your a Bible verse memory cards! What a fun homeschooling day! Enjoyed watching!
What I’ve learned is that homeschooling or home education is an extension of parenting. I want my kids to understand that sometimes we have to do things even when we don’t “feel” like it. Emotions can’t lead. We have to learn the habit of attention which is where Charlotte mason comes in but biblically speaking it helps us learn self control and taking ownership of ourselves. However, I do feel unschooling is such an effective tool with whatever lifestyle or rhythm your family is in… we homestead and over the course of home educating I have learned to approach studies seasonally because if you think about it, nowhere in the Bible does it say to put your child in school. It says to teach them diligently and basically raise them up to Know God. So what that looks like for each family varies. So I try to keep a vision and home life in order then figure out where our studies fit in each season because that can look different from one to the next. I also keep a few pathways at hand in case life happens more one day than another. This keeps me from feeling discouraged and still productive. Kids are constantly learning so as the parent it’s good to just always be ready for those teachable moments. Find where our strengths are and don’t use curriculum there. Use curriculum where you’re weaker. We are Charlotte mason Classical farm school over here 😂 find what works for you but know it’s okay to not fit in a box. Reading the actual Charlotte mason volumes is helpful. Karen glass “know and tell” or in vital harmony is great. Mystie winckler and Pam Barnhill and Sarah Mackenzie are my tried and true go to seasoned mamas. I like stuff that stands the test of time. The more pretty and fancy it is, the more likely I won’t use it anymore. We use ambleside online and it has been a game changer. I just use it in a way that fits for us. We also use story of the world. I also have trained up my kids to learn independently from our other parts of the day. So I set the stage with things they can do on their own without my help. This is sooo helpful. Almost Montessori like. My son learned all about ww1 and 2 just from self directed learning. I just made sure to give him opportunity at library and found kid friendly shows and documentaries. Now he is my history buff haha. It’s been so cool to see. We joined a CM co-op too with riches and my kids are doing a robinhood and Shakespeare play. It’s awesome!! Also, if you haven’t found Jodie Mockabee you’re missing out. She has an unschooling rich experience and resources she has made. She also has a new book out.
Love this! Yes, definitely going the CM route after actually making this video! I just posted a video on what we are doing right now and an update. LOVE Jodie! I did read her book. She's so good.
I love the idea of Charlotte Mason classical farm school! This needs to be my life. We did a farm school co-op last year since we don’t actually live on a farm (but wish we did) and the kids loved it! We also did a classical co-op too!
Omg I needed this!!! My 3 year old son is very rambunctious and does not like to let sister do ANYTHING he’s not doing. I’m definitely going to make sure I commit the first half hour or so to filling his cup and then maybe he will want to stay doing his independent play!
So excited about this video. Need ideas and inspiration…I have 5, e, and 1 yr olds. Will start homeschool next year. God bless your efforts to teach your kids
learned something new today about "unschooling" thank you, also i just realized most of my battles stem from the topics that my kids "refuse" to absorb for the time being. thank you so much.
I nanny and it's so true. it's not about the volume achieved each day, it's about the consistency and knowing that if you offer the opportunity to learn they will! The little boy I nanny just turned 3 last month and he love his states and capitols, bible study, reading (100 easy lesson is fantastic) he's on lesson 40, right now he's into drawing and handwriting and just asked for a world map to lean more about countries- we only "school" while he's eating and the rest of his day is filled with playing, playdates, and adventures!
Love this video! Thank you for sharing this and your homeschool journey! Also LOVE seeing you now with faith in Christ ❤️ makes me love your channel that much more!
Thank you for this video. we usually do tea time and bible reading after dinner. I love the idea of a noon time tea! I'm definitely going to get that reading book! We've been struggling with phonics!
Thank you so much! We wanted a secular education but this inspired me to finally sit down and choose the right homeschool program for us! I love tea time and I can’t wait to do this for my 5 and 3 year olds… and my younger 2!
Haha we are so similar. We are super eclectic we’ve done almost all the styles. We did mostly unschooling for two years and definitely believe in it, but this year we both craved a little more structure so we are doing a little more
Thank you for sharing this! I am going to transition to homeschooling my girls within the next couple of years. I'm glad to see that you have very similar thoughts to me concerning how children learn. This really helps me during this research phase.
WOW!!! What an amazing video. I’ll be saving and coming back to it to take notes. New subscriber here. Mama of 2 and expecting #3. Looking to begin homeschooling next year and this video was so so inspiring.
Hi Hayley, you mentioned in one of your videos that you're here in California. Do you happen to be in San Diego? I'm starting to homeschool my son, he just doesn't want to go to school anymore but he loves to do homework with me. He's 5. Thank you so much for sharing!❤️🙏
Hayley! Girl I missed you. I know you went nowhere but I have gotten so busy. I am so glad to have been back and seeing this video. Congratulations on baby #4. I've been around since Annabelle was first born. That's when I found you. Thank you for making this video, I identify so much with you and your journey and lifestyle. Anyways, just thought I'd stop by and say HI !
I needed this ❤❤I love you!!!!❤I’m just like you ! Wasn’t homeschooled and I only have one friend that homeschools . I’m in northern cal . I’m struggling a little and needed this !❤❤❤thank you thank you !!!❤🎉
This is a wonderful video. I've been homeschooling for many years now, and when I started, I learned about the different types of homeschooling and I didn't realize I was unschooling.. we just slowly transfered our style into this and we love it and my kids love the freedom to follow their interests.
That’s so funny I literally just got the reading book and catechism book you recommended in the mail yesterday before I saw your video ☺️. My daughter is two and knows how to read because I used Jady A, a homeschool mom here on RUclips, she has a reading book and she said if you stay consistent your child will be reading in 2 weeks and she was right!! I highly recommend that one as well, I haven’t started the one you recommended but I can’t wait to dive into it. Thank you for all of your tips, you’re such a great mommy!❤
I’m glad that you said it took 6 months .. I tried Classical conversations with my oldest and it took him 4 weeks for me to realize this is not for us ! He acted out every day time and I was willing to suffer for his benefit but I truly hated it as well 😂
Hello! Im going to start homeschooling my 4 year old. Where did you get all your tools? Where did you get the little books for the kids tbag you change out every week? Do you mind sharing where you got all the stuff for your pre schooler?
I love so much about this! You’re living out my dream. Honestly I’ve had almost every resource in my Amazon cart at some point. It’s on my heart to homeschool but my husband feels like sending our daughter to private school will be better for her so, next year, she will no longer be homeschooled and I am heartbroken over it!
Oh my gosh. This sounds like my life. We homeschooled for kindergarten then did “school” last year (because hubs insisted) There wasn’t anything absolutely terrible there but I still just couldn’t stomach it. I was upset every day. I didn’t get over it the whole year and here we are again preparing for the next year. I just have to homeschool again. I also have another child about to enter kindergarten and it’s just on my heart to homeschool. My advice would be to pray every day about your decision and journal on it.
Aww, this video brings back so many wonderful memories ❤ Enjoy these days because they are over sooner than you can possibly imagine, and your suddenly a mum of grown up children (how did that happen?!) xx
His was sooo good a lot of things I had not explored and will probably do during summer. My girls need routine even during summer so it’ll be cool to do things they don’t normally do during summer. We are doing ABC Bible curriculum right now but I like what you have too. ❤
What is your take on the catechism book it feels like it’s a Catholic thing? Thank you for sharing looking into preschool homeschool and trying to figure it all out. Being traditionally schooled.
Your homeschool co-op reminds me & my son of our homeschool group Wild+Free that meets on Wednesdays!!! WE LOVE our wild & free tribe!!! We are going into our 3rd year in it & it’s truly a community & we have a core group that meets up as we can at other times & whenever we find things going on that we think is cool & will engage our kids!!! SERIOUSLY LOVE IT!! We homeschool in all the ways. Lol some gameschooling, some interest led, some traditional, etc. I believe we are what is considered an eclectic Christian homeschool family. LOVE this!!! Definitely awesome to see how others homeschool so that you can tailor your own homeschool in ways that not only fit your homeschool life but also help you be more productive, not just in “homeschooling” but in all other areas of your life. Though, life is homeschooling if you think about it!!! Definitely have a new subscriber in me!!!
How do you do it all!? You are such an inspiration!❤ how are you able to start so early, 9 is early for us since we can’t seem to finish breakfast after10😅
My area Louisville Kentucky has no groups for homeschoolers. How did you find the groups? I checked FB but no play date homeschool groups around my area 😢
Hi Hayley, love the videos. I’ve been watching since Annabel was a baby in the first apt ❤ could you tell me where the butterfly teapot is from? Thanks
Love your videos on homeschooling! I don’t know if this is a common question you get, but where did you get the little white table for you and your kids to sit at?
I feel like we have been heading in the exact same directions with similarly aged children so I just love love love seeing new videos come out about how you guys are progressing on this journey! Definitely going to check out the new podcast 🙂 Random question but where do you get the girls dresses? Annabelle’s polka dot short sleeve dress is so cute and I’d love to find some like that for my daughter! Thanks!
Good and the beautiful ! It’s such a beautiful curriculum we love it !! I tried Abeka and let me tell you …. Way to much for kids it’s over whelming at least for me ! ❤
You have my exact homeschool philosophy ! We maybe do school books( good and the beautiful) twice a week! Also app learning is good for this. My daughter does mental math with her learning app. We do hooked on phonics maybe twice a eeek and my 5 year old just started reading. We keep app learning minimal, maybe 10 minutes a day. The rest is outside as much as we can and free play, and co ops twice a week.
The things you were not interested in high school and forgot didn't end in the trash bin, you exercised your memory, brain is a muscle. History didn't begin when nomads turned into farmers. Prehistory is boring, I know, and the names of the different periods are difficult for small children, but "it all started with a Big Bang".

So great! We homeschool our 5 children and it's such a blessing.
