  • Short description
The history of Mixed Connective Tissue Disease (MCTD) began 50 years ago as a result of long-term observation (made by G. Sharp and coworkers) of patients with features resembling lupus, scleroderma and dermatomyositis.
    The webinar presents:
    - Evolving views on clinical aspects of MCTD
    - Growing knowledge on markers and pathogenesis of disease
    - Development of diagnostic criteria
    - Controversy over the nature of MCTD
    - and other important issues.
Looking at the growing knowledge on MCTD we can follow 50 years of medicine progress.
According to Sharp, the nature of the disease poses many challenges for researchers and is stimulating the development of autoimmune disease research (Lupus 2009).
