@@AzjatyckiCukierso leaving behind the older trees to let it fall and hurt people is ok with you ? Your comment has no common sense or common sense is never common to you ?
@@CrossbredmiMiyang yes, it's so much common sense to turn singapore into a concreate pan and replace the puny trees with plastic ones, once the real once wilt, as they tend to do within weeks after planting, because the heat is too much. Must protect the people (but not from heat stroke I guess). You are so smart.
True, it is extremely safe here. I was pickpocketed twice though. Low crime doesn't mean no crime. We do have the occasional murder and burglary here. The government doesn't want you to see the destitutes swept off the streets and forced to live in poorly maintained sheltered homes, the drug addict who's not receiving appropriate treatment and rehab, as well as, the elderly who are abandoned in nursing homes. Also, what people don't see is that the authorities have been cutting down trees that are decades old and clearing forests in order to build more condos, apartments and shopping malls. They promised to plant 100 trees, only after cutting down 1000 old ones. Ordinary Singaporeans are aware of all these and can feel the difference. Singapore used to be more green. It's a nice place for tourists but life is extremely stressful here for most of us.
You missed out our rooftop gardens. They are found on the rooftop open space of our multi-storey car parks as well as the top floor of some mega shopping malls.
It's so crazy to think that green spaces, something that's cost-free in theory and objectively beneficial have become something only the privileged and more developed places can enjoy. Nobody wants to live in a concrete urban hellscape, but yet the majority of the world does. When will we reach the breaking point and turn the tide once and for all? We need more beautiful parks, reliable public transport and communal areas, and fewer cars, highways, and boring highrises.
