    Just off the top of my head Steelers turned Ryan Shaziers contract into all signing bonus after he got injured. Seems like an example of the team doing right by the player.

      Bro, they converted $8.26 mill of his $8.71 mill 5th year option FOR SALARY CAP PURPOSES. It was to clear cap space, not to do right by the player. Doesn't mean they don't treat players well in Pittsburgh, just pointing out that in the case you're referring to it was a smart salary cap move, not a compassionate player friendly move.

    Fields barely got over 2500 yards passing in a season and was 5-8, Williams does not have to get over 3500 yards to look better than Fields and win more games. Fields will be with the Steelers if they make a reasonable 3-year deal midseason after he looks better than Wilson and looks better than someone they can draft in the first 2 rounds next year. I suspect he will be a free agent and a backup or short-term starter behind a draft pick. Smith if he works as OC may be Tomlin's OC that sticks around as long as he wants to coach, who is good but is not anyone's pick for another head coaching job.

    Despite his lack of results, im a fan of fields.

    Maybe Pittsburgh is that opportunity

    • @mattcarberry368
      @mattcarberry368 6 месяцев назад +3

      HE WAS ALREADY IN A SITUATION THAT HE COULD HAVE DEVELOPED IN, he had a way better o-line as a 3rd year starter than CJ Stroud had as a rookie, yet day 1 CJ obviously belonged and heading into year 4 it's still a giant ???? for Fields.... and also it's hard for the Bears staff to develop a QB who LITERALLY COMPLAINED that his coaches "giving him information" (aka BEING COACHED TO PLAY IN THE NFL) was "too confusing" for him and he blamed THEM for his struggles because he thought they should just be letting him step on the field and play with blind reaction/athleticism like he did at Ohio State which SPOILER ALERT: is 100% NOT how the NFL works
      he had a decent o-line, better than a LOT of QB's have to work with.... he had a very good security blanket TE, he had a legit #1 playmaking WR, and again heading into YEAR 4 he still looked lost 90% of the time, still was the literal worst 4th quarter QB in football, the literal biggest crunch time meltdown QB in football, and STILL struggles with basic reads/concepts
      and going to a team that doesn't invest in offense in general, has BY FAR the highest defensive cap spending, can't build an o-line to save their lives, always have the biggest headcase malcontent hothead WRs in the league etc.... how in the world is this supposedly such a better situation for a QB to develop in? how is Fields lack of progress anyone's fault but HIS OWN?

    • @danny51577
      @danny51577 6 месяцев назад +4

      @mattcarberry368 that's alot of words that doesn't change anything.
      He could've would've should've. But didn't. There are multiple reasons he didn't develop.
      But one of the big reasons he didn't develop, is himself.
      His own production is not up to par. Period.
      You can write 8 more paragraphs about it. But at the end of the day, his performance and production were subpar.

To going to Russ is like going from a Ford Fiesta to a Ferrari man. Can't wait to see them play this year. I mean look at where they got with a practice squad QB who some how was a starter for them. They made the playoffs this past year and barely missed the year before. So now with a competent QB under center it should be vastly improved. And that's not even mentioning the addition of fields. So many bears fans crying about fields and he sucked and blah blah I'm a dumbass who doesn't know football. Plus even if they both suck. Small contracts easy outs makes it a win win for the Steelers.

    If NFL history has taught us anything, and it hasn't seemed to teach the steelers anything lately is that you draft super bowl wining QBs. With the only exception being blue chip, marques QBs like Brady and Manning. Both Wilson and Fields suck. The worst QB record since 2021 belongs to Justin Fields at 10-28. Third worst is Russell Wilson at 17-27. The only two QBs that lost more than 25 and won less than 20 since 2021 are now the two steelers QBs. THEY SUCK!

    I don’t think I’ve ever seen so much media coverage over such mediocrity. You think Fields is entertaining to watch? Then you don’t know football. As a thrower he sucks. Period. 49ers didn’t want him. KC didn’t want him. And after three years most of the league didn’t want him. Not as a starter. And for good reason. He’s a career ending sack waiting to happen. Nice guy. Bad QB.

    This is utter nonsense. Mike Tomlin wasn't the head coach in 1995. The Pittsburgh Steelers style of play under Mike Tomlin is out of date. You can switch out as many players as you want, but the problem is Mike Tomlin and his system is not innovative, offensive and disciplined. Mike Tomlin has renewed energy because his job is on the line. The truth be told Mike should have been fired 10 years ago. The fact that he is still around is ridiculous. The Sports media should be talking about Mike Tomlin's ineffectiveness in the playoffs and the total collapses that occur in should win games. But they are idiots and they will not tell the truth about Mike Tomlin. Pathetic.

    There's a group think among the 30 nfl teams not named the Packers and steelers. Win the lottery by finding Mahomes, Brady, etc. or look bad trying. Sit the QB for 3 years to learn at the feet of a hall of famer- we can't do that. Sign a future hall of famer for the veteran minimum and trade for a young QB with potential for 6th rounder - can't be done. Well everyone had the chance, but only Green Bay and Pittsburgh have the patience and balls to do it.
