We need to end the notion that formal dressing is uncomfortable. A good woollen suit should be more comfortable and breathable than a T-shirt with sweatpants. If it's not then you might be doing something wrong, e.g. wearing a suit which is too tight for you or has a non-breathable polyester lining.
A very useful video, Chris gives excellent advice. I've worn denim with odd jackets before but my favourite was a long sleeve knitted polo shirt, a corduroy jacket, jeans & brogue boots. I agree that jeans with neckwear can be tricky but I think you can possibly pull off a silk scarf, neckerchief or cravat if you are so inclined
I find the easiest way to pull off the jacket with the jeans look is to go with a sports jacket that has a pattern paired with an Oxford button down shirt (or polo) and dark denim jeans (no distressing). For the shoes go with a dark brown derby with some brogues or a dark brown Chelsea boot. Also don’t wear a tie and don’t wear a dress shirt.
I would usually suggest a dark navy over black but it could be quite smart. I would suggest perhaps a little trickier to dress down but nice for the evening.
Absolutely, wool slacks can definitely be worn without a jacket! If the fabric has enough texture, like gabardine with its smooth, diagonal weave, it can look great on its own. Thanks for your question!
Best clothing taste of all youtube channels about the sartorial topic!

Love the looks you’ve proposed. I’m going to give them a go.

Thanks for sharing your tips on rocking a jacket with jeans!
I’ll date myself with this. This was very common in ‘82 when I was in college. It went away and now it appears to be back.
Back in full force…and in my opinion, it should be here to stay.
What is your suggestion about black blazer and double breasted combinations for daily use in office or casual etc. Thanks

Dark Navy jacket on Black Trousers, is that what you mean? Thanks
@@mehmettanjudirlik9395 no….I would suggest grey for black jackets.
@@chrismodoo6563 yes, thank you
Italians are the masters of this 😉
Very interesting video. If you do revisit this topic in the future, please cover footwear as well.
Thank you for your comment!
Where can I purchase a Denim Shirt like this ?..
Would a Chambray shirt work?
yes
I really like the denim shirt you are wearing in this video, Chris. Where has it come from, please?
I hade it made to measure from Berg
You can get a similar shirt from Tyrwhit
What about wearing wool slacks without a jacket? Can that work?

Chris, is your denim shirt a double cuff shirt or a barrel cuff that you left unbuttoned?
It is a button cuff that I folded back...
Enjoy your videos and expertise. But I suggest reducing the volume of the background music. It detracts rather than enhances the message.
Noted!
Passive aggressive as only Brits can do.
Sorry, I can't agree with the denim short choice. Not for anyone, anywhere, short of someone competing in a rodeo.
It's a dress shirt in a soft denim, not a cowboy shirt
The Rodeo is pretty formal compared to the US west coast.
@@CosmicPipeLOL, you have a point
It takes some work to find a "finer" denim dress shirt and not one of the more "work hand" versions. I wish they had linked to the shirt source.
