Respect for sticking to the fly rod and not switching to gear. So, many guys that say I want to get into fly fishing bring their gear rod when they go out and when nothing is happening they switch back to gear and never truly "get into fly fishing".
It never occurred to me to troll with a fly rod. Will have to try it next spring. Have a mouse fly I really want to try out. 6 weight rod I will put a 1x leader on. Should be a blast.
Very cool,Beautifl walleye. Your a very skilled fly fisherman jay, could only imagine the fight you got from the bull redfish on the fly. Especially the one that snapped your rod!!
Sweet video Jay. Today I went a little rogue as well. I took my centrepin rod and reel carp fishing and caught my first mirror carp, great fight on a pin reel!!
Nice video Jay! I’m a big fan of all of your videos. I’ve got a suggestion for you. What do you think about putting a GoPro in front of your fishfinder while you’re filming your video and then superimpose the fishfinder down the bottom corner of your video while the video is playing just so we can see what you’re seeing on the fishfinder. Kind of an educational tool. Just a thought… Again, really enjoy your videos, thanks a lot!
Just fished for walleye this weekend up off of the Gunflint. Caught ten in about 15 minutes. It’s our secret lake! They were all perfect eating Size. My biggest one was 21”, so PERFECT eating.
Tfo great Canadian company for fly rods. Just picked up and awesome 5wt Combo. Rod reel line case 265$. And if you break a section of your rod it’s only 30$ to replace the one section.
I just moved to Alberta with Zero Walleye experience. I stumbled across my first Walleye by accident while fishing a trout stream and even second guessed myself claiming it. I went back with my fly rod and nailed 5 of the things back to back stripping a streamer in 1 foot of water. That is my perception of them now. Voracious pack feeders.
i’d give anything to come up there and catch some walleyes with Jay. he’s half the reason i have the know-how in order to find them and catch them all the way down here in Oklahoma.
I moved away from trout last year so I've been catching a lot of walleye/mooneye's and pike. I've only caught walleye's use streamers, even smaller guys ~10 inches will go for a 2-3 inch streamer. Mooneye's seem to go for dry flies sometimes and will go for a smaller nymphs. I find I catch a lot of walleyes right as the sun is setting, even into the dark they keep biting Good thing about fly fishing in areas where there's no trout is that very very few people fly fish so the fish havent seem your lures before so they don't know it's pointy
I target different species of fish fly fishing anywhere from trout to bass large and smallies sunfish. I moved to Lancaster Pa and live close to the Susquehanna river. Do you have any tips for walleye? Like flies and line? I use an 8wt I. This river. I also wade don’t have a yak.
Hey I live on a private lake In the twin cities. HMU if you ever want too fish it big bass every cast, oh and big walleye too... fly fishing is my passion.

TFO is American.
TFO Canada is Canadian owned and independent of any other tfo. So yes TFO Canada is a Canadian company
That's a really cool video.
He's good at fishing, too.
I love your videos, I love fishing

Nice work Jay - always entertaining - always fun to watch. I bought a floating kayak fishing net for Joey, it works great. Found it on Amazon...

Maybe I missed it but what is the weight and length of the rod you are using for walleye?
What are the specs of the rod you were using ?
Tulloch Engineering just did a legal survey out there 🤯🤯. That lake has amazing walleye 👍👍
This was just a well made video
I would like to send you some steamers that I tie for you to try out. Do you have a po box or something like that to send them to?
