Love the fly fishing content, Jay! Fly fishing is not just for trout! A tip for anyone stripping, put the rod tip in the water for a tighter connection. Hovering the rod tip above the water you may not feel the hit to set the hook. Especially if you’re just starting out.
I love seeing the flyfishing Jay. Now you need to take that 8wt and head to the Skeena region of BC and put those skills to the test. I really miss being able to visit there. Hopefully the border opens before this fall.
well done video on fly fishing, dumbed it down enough to make anyone confident enough to try it. very rewarding to catch fish on a fly rod but do not try in wind, not fun.
Hey we were there a couple weeks ago. Manitou Weather Station delivers on all fronts...Muskies, Lakers, Smallies. Enjoyed our time there. We fished those rapids as well.
Please do a musky video or even pike or both !!! You live next to the best pike and musky fishing anywhere in the world!! Some true giants out there! Good luck.
@@JaySiemens I'm so stoked! Can't wait. Been following you since you were behind the scenes of uncut angling so awsome to see your epic adventures! Ps. My wife wants to see some more Sam cam haha
jay always love how informative you are, i know fly fishing is a beast of info, just mention the type of line, a bit more, baits are good, standard gotos, different types for different fish, u got it, thx bro much love, from mb would b super cool if u could make a few flies for each species, i do a few for each of the ones i go for, but if u do it would make it cooler
You have no idea, I got a fly rod this spring and struggled the first time out and haven’t picked it up since, I was gonna ask you to do a video like this. Thank you.
here's something I did to learn how to fly cast, this tip may sound dumb but as a kid it taught me rhythm and how to cast. What I did was take 25'-30' of knittng wool, run it through just the tip of your fly rod, then sit in your family room, rec-room hallway or where ever, and cast the wool with just the tip of the rod. You will almost instantly feel the load of the wool and slow down and develope the cast, you can learn roll casting also doing this. Throwing fly's is not hard but most beginners just need to slow down and get the feel of the rod loading so this tip I'm giving you guys will let you get a feel for it easy peazy, when you can lay out 20' of wool across the floor nice and straight you'll develope the tempo, feel and get a better understanding of fishing with a fly rod.
Loved it dude, you should get Aaron out and do some backcountry lake fishing trip with him, loved it when you guys took rods up to those kids!!! Just a thought!!
Picked up a fly rod last year during the rona and actually dedicated my hole summer to it since I wasn’t working. Love it never spin cast again. Have three 5wts a 3 wt and an 8wt now. Fishing the Alberta Rockies for trout great views some exercise. 90% of their feeding is under water for sure. Two months of the year top water is king!! You ever want to visit Alberta and need a tour guide hit me up I will take some time off from the rig lol
I've only tried fly fishing once, 7 years ago for Atlantic salmon in northern New Brunswick ... from a big cedar strip canoe. It's definitely a learning curve, but quite enjoyable, other than when you hook the anchor line off the bow of the boat, or your guide's hat. LOL
@@JaySiemens Haha! I'll never get on that piece of river again. It was John Irving's private camp. I think I heard he sold it in the years since I was there. Best paid work trip ever!
Hey Jay really thinkin about picking up the same boat your runnin im in northwestern ontario as well, If you were to rig your boat from scratch again would u change anyting? Also I plan on fishing some remote places as well would u add a kicker? What length shaft is the ultrex
Hey wondering what happened to you, glad your back , Bass for fishing on the fly is so much fun, I don't do it enough alway have people in the boat with me lol.
I've always been intrigued by the technique of fly fishing, just honestly never tried it!
Now how bout a Jay vs. Clay, fly rods only, multi species! 🤔

There's nothing better than floating the river and fly fishing for rainbow trout with a strike indicator and three flies in tandem.

HE'S BACK!!!!
Hi!!
Come spring time if you have to make a video of you fly fishing some walleye in the spawn, would be deadly I bet
Noted! I'll see what I can do!
First! Hey, have you been fishing to any spots close to Toronto if so, would you recommend any spots?
Rice Lake is north east of Toronto around Peterborough. A bit of a more shallow lake but good bass fishing
Simcoe!!
How about right in Toronto I almost bet 90 % of the people living in the northern Ontario haven't caught fish as big as that live in lake Ontario.
Quick question Jay: Were you using a floating line?
Yes
What rod would you recommend for a drop shot rig??and what weight thx jay
So true...you can't have just one Tostitos Hint of Lime chip...addictive.
Yesssss
Looooove the vids jay keep it up
