Watch more of "NFL Primetime." It aired when the second half of sunday games were almost over. So they would recap the whole day in like an hour. It was a GREAT show. The show was cancelled (or moved to monday for a while, I think) when NBC got the rights to be exclusive with highlights. So SNF just stole the format.
I'm a Bronco fan at heart but I'm rooting for the Niners to win it all this year! It'd be nice to see another Shanahan and McCaffrey win the SB again!!
@@zero1fifty8 I wouldn't necessarily say they choked but I'm a very superstitious man and when Jason Elam missed that first extra point of the game against Jacksonville, I knew Denver was going to lose that game.
For me yall 98 team was unstoppable yall started 13-0 finished 14-2 and they were a hard to beat maybe if Minnesota made the Superbowl it would of been a closet game than Atlanta but I think 98 team was hotter than 97
Oh what could have been! Denver should have been the first 3 peat champions that 96 loss to the upstart Jags probably hurts the most of any loss in my life as a Broncos fan! I was only 9 years old but I still remember it vividly but this game definitely helped me get past it. Go Broncos DBFL baby!
Kordell should've played Wide Receiver/Kick Returner instead of Quarterback. Even if the Steelers won this game, they lose to Green Bay in Super Bowl 32. Kordell would've been out of his league against Brett Favre.
Perhaps Pittsburgh should have run more in the redzone instead of trying to do a bunch of Joe Montana style touch passing. Bettis was a star power back.
As Berman stated @3:46, this was the turning point in the game. 2nd and 2 with Pittsburgh already in Denver territory, Kordell tries to make a game a shootout but throws an interception. His legs were going to be the key to this game as Elway wasn't as mobile
@@howardcosell2022Stewart was always shaky as with every other Steelers QB under Cowher pre Big Ben. Had Cowher had a franchise QB, he’d own 3-5 rings.

Probably got frustrated. But yeah, don’t forget Charles Johnson was a buff as well, along with Joel Steed (#93 Steelers nose tackle). Back when we where national championship contenders. Even though I was never born to see that happen.
Wow. All these years later and I realize even more the Steelers should've won that game. Missed field goal. 2 Interceptions in the end zone. 2 Denver touchdowns in the last 2 minutes of the half. Sick all over again. 🤮
@@robbie192 I remember the 9 and 7 Steelers in 1984 traveling to Denver to play in the divisional round against the Broncos. John Elway and the Broncos were 13 and 3 that year, heavy favorite to go to the Super Bowl but the Steelers beat them 24-17. Talk about heart broke Bronco fans. 🤣
Had Cowher had a franchise QB like Big Ben his whole head coaching career, Cowher has 3-5 rings. The Steelers always had good to great teams under Cowher, but the QB play was average.
Old Three Rivers Stadium got louder and more intimidating for the opponents. IMO. Too often it appears our fans need great plays to get into a frenzy. In these days it was automatic…
I really felt/feel that the '97 Broncos were easily as good, if not better, than the '97 Steelers, but NOT on this day. If not for two, yes TWO nonsense defensive PI calls, the Steelers win rather easily. In general, I'm okay with bad calls in a game that AREN'T DPI. DPI calls can literally change games by themselves, they can be so significant (worst rule in ALL of pro football by a mile)
Denver/Pittsburgh is an underrated rivalry. These two have bumped into each other in the playoffs a lot.
Absolutely!
They both hate the raiders with a passion
Pittsburgh would get back at Denver in another AFC Championship Game eight years later.
8 times they've met in the playoffs. Most played playoff matchup between two AFC teams.

There is no guarantee that they would have went on to defeat the GB Packers in SB 31! No one in the NFL will 3 peat!
