Love this! I'm a retired dental assistant/office mgr, married to an attorney, and we love our pit bulls, too! We hated pit bulls for years...until we discovered for ourselves what wonderful, funny and loving companions they are in the hands of responsible owners.
I love these Pibbles and have had the pleasure of working with many of these owners, fosters and ACPB dogs. Keep up the great work! Smooches to all of you!

I am sorry to hear that you are made to feel that way by your neighbors dogs. My parents live near Bloodhounds who do the same thing. It can happen with any dog, not just Pit Bulls, who are under-socialized and not in the guardianship of responsible dog owners. I think the point of the video is to show that responsible Pit Bull (all dog owners actually) are not like that. Those of us who care very deeply about our dogs as part of our family and socialized are the majority, not bad owners.

Those dogs are protecting their houses. They have the mind of a 5 year old child. If you were a kid with big teeth and who could scare intruders away, you would probably bark at any stranger walking by your things as well.
I would not go near anyone's dog if the owner wasn't around. I don't care how big or small the dog is or how much it barks; that is a sure way to get yourself in to big trouble. I think the point, again, of the PSA is to show that no all Pit Bull owners are the same, and not all Pit Bulls are the same. You should judge the dog and the owner based on their individual actions, not make blanket statement about not liking a breed simply based on one experience.
My blanket statement is that I don't like dogs in general and particularly don't like really mean sounding dogs that bark madly at me, especially if they could chew me to pieces if they were given the opportunity to do so and chose to take it. Fair enough?

Everytime somebody walks by the dog runs to the fence and starts barking ferociously. Previous owner of that house dog did the same thing. It scares the crap out of almost everyone the walks by minding their own business. Those are the 2 nice dogs. So what do you think they'd do to whoever is walking by if they manage to escape their yard?

As long as they are exercised properly and cared for and socialized, they should not be barking like this. Big dogs should live where they have big yards to play in. Leave them out of the city if they can't behave properly. Someone walking by a house poses no threat and should not be barked at.

But no, I am saying that because the overwhelming majority of Pit Bulls do not attack, we should not focus on all Pit Bulls and start focusing on the main reason for most Pit Bull attacks and dog attacks in general--the owners.

That doesn't make them bad dogs..but it does make them more potentially deadly if you get a bad one or have one in the wrong hands. While some dogs may be more likely to bite you, they may lack the power, durability, and drive to actually end you on average. I would be wondering why most Pit Bulls are not aggressive if I were you and what do the ones that are aggressive have in contrast with those that are not. Clearly not every evil person independently decides a Pit Bull is the dog for them..but because of misinformation and stereotypes, some dogs get a reputation and end up being popular among people that want an aggressive dog or a status symbol of a dog that can scare people. If you look at the history of dangerous dogs..multiple breeds have suffered from unfair media attention: German Shepherds, Dobermans, and Rottweilers are a few that have been called dangerous dogs with certain people wanting those dogs as status symbols and weapons. But bad owners don't even have to be evil. Things can happen simply because people are not responsible or care enough about a dog to properly train them.
Common sense would be to have a big dog in a big yard such as the country. Lets say a young kid is walking in the alleyway and as he passes by. The dog runs up and starts barking madly at him. Is that really fair to the kid? Do you see that there is a huge difference in a small dog vs. a big dog? Train your big dog to bark at a threat. A passerby is not a threat. If your dog can't be trained, use a muzzle. Use your own common sense please.
