One of the most heart breaking things I have ever heard of, was the case of 4 dogs sent to the shelter because their owner was running a dog fighting ring. The owner was locked up and the dogs were kept as evidenced, they were deemed to dangerous to be adopted or be around other dogs; so they stayed in doggy solitary confinement. Until the trial they spent 24-7 in their separate kennel, they were not to interact with anyone man or beast, they only saw someone when their kennel was hosed down or when they were feed. After the trial they were all destroyed. I couldn't imagine a sadder life, fighting until the death was the only life they knew, then they were basically put on doggy death row because some asshole wanted to bet on bloodsports. I wish I could have been in a locked room with that guy, I would have given him some bloodsport he would never forget.
Eric Hardric I pulled my pit mix from a shelter who was also rescued from a dog fighting ring. It was a long process getting him out but there was no way I was leaving my poor baby to be euthanized. My heart shattered seeing him covered in scars and looking completely broken in the corner of that cage. They said he was aggressive but when I came to that gate I only saw desperation. He still has his problems with certain people and new dogs but he is seriously the sweetest most needy baby of do, he needs attention 24/7! We still have a lot of work to do but I won’t give up on him.
Jaime Gonzalez that’s so awesome. good for you & thank you so much 😊 please keep working and don’t give up on him. He WILL recover. He will learn to trust you more each day and believe there’s love & compassion out there for him 👍
Robert, I’ve followed and respected your materials and work-not least through B’Angels-for several years, and I believe this is one of your most difficult to watch yet profoundly true videos I’ve seen! For dogs’ sake, brother, kicks the soul and inspires action like no other! Thanks and blessing on you and yours for this holy vocation!
I have always adopted from shelters. Always adults. It take a lots of patience and acceptance of the animal. I agree 100%. I do it with the animal in mind.
I'm glad there's a lot of Rescues groups rescuing them out of shelters. The innocent dog's lives just mutilated because people don't have the dog's in mind. Hotel for Homeless Dogs is awesome. Lee Asher The Asher House is awesome. These 2 Rescues and other Rescues literally get all 100% adopted. The dogs should get respect and kindness. The shelters need to change.
I so respect and admire all the work you do with shelter dogs. My last two dogs that I adopted were shelter dogs and they were precious and special and awesome. I adopted them at a Rottweiler rescue.🙏💔🐶
Annie P * Beauty Defying Age I agree, but, hey, at least they're not disposing of them in a horrible way, but bringing them to a safe place, which is at least better than inhumane alternatives. Thank God for shelters and volunteers!
Lot of people leave them on the road when they don’t want them anymore. That’s mean. A person who admits that he or she can’t handle the dog, wasn’t the right breed, can’t take care of it anymore, or other great excuses will leave it at the shelter hoping it will get adopted by a worthy person or family. If you can’t meet the dog expectations let someone else meet them. It’s not mean in anyway.
Eric Sheng - way to go big boy, sexually harassing women on dog training videos will definitely get you laid more! You're an inspiration to desperate singles every where!
I wish I had seen this the day before I adopted my shelter dog. Since I didn't, I appreciate this video even more, now, having learned these facts in this video the hard way. Thank you for verbalizing this in a way that I understand and can relate to, and share. Because of my dog and how much I've learned from him, our local trainer, and you, I'm planning to start volunteering with our local shelter this fall. Thank you for helping shelter dogs and helping other people help shelter dogs!
Robert Cabral is awesome. He has dog training and information channel. His methods are simplified to make anyone feel like they are a professional pet owner/ trainer.
The dogs do NOT belong to shelter handlers.... they are property of a county or municipal shelter once they are abandoned there. And that is the correct word.
RC did not imply shelter dogs belong to shelter workers. He is in fact warning staff that over coddling, over sentimentality , cutting corners and structure may impede progress and cost its life. I’m a shelter volunteer and essentially coach dogs in a boot camp where they learn aspects of being a dog in a human world. The happiest thing I do with each dog is hand the leash to the new owner.
This man makes a lot of sense. Rescuing a shelter dog is a crapshoot. Living in a shelter for an animal.changes them. Drastically. Great for that Brandon McMillan who has been a multi species animal trainer all his life. He knows what he's doing. The average family has no idea what they're going through and the changes and how that dog reacts to situations. And a lot of times, a friendly appearing dog will be triggered and react aggressively. I hate to say th his, but I don't recommend shelter dogs to anyone. Best to buy from a breeder where the puppy has a clean slate when you're a typical family looking for a pet. Leave the shelter dogs to people who are experienced with negative behaviors and know what to look for.
No, fuck breeders. Too many inbred dogs with hardwired health issues already. Get a mutt, from a shelter, and go in training how to make that dog the best pet in the world. Every dog can be turned.
Shelters should just not allow this, you should not be able to turn a dog in, the people must remain accountable and if they do it should be a crime, I mean could you do that with your kid? we enable an easy way out letting people do this.

@@jaimegonzalez4300 I'm so glad you were able to save one! He won the doggy lottery, I hope you have a long happy companionship!

That's so mean how people can just drop off their dogs like its nothing. Nothing makes sense about hurting, leaving, not loving, any dog

The only good reason to do that is if your dog bites your new born baby. That's a situation where you have to give him away
Dogs are nothing

It takes good knowledhe and heart to explain exactly how things are and what has to be done for the best of these dogs in just a few minutes ...
My heart is broken by this.

Thank you so very much for what you do!
Damn he’s so right on that

Or better yet, fosters.

*_Awesome video! I like it_*
Hard to watch
Look at all those pit bulls!
As a pit owner, it breaks my heart.
