The mere suggestion of SFV being better than SF6 just tells you how tremendously short peoples memories are.......like seriously man.
SFV was utter TRASH at launch. It didn't get good until really the third season and towards the end of its life.
Even then, SFV was not better than SFIV, you can pick literally any version.
SF6 is not perfect, but we have to remember that the game is very early on in its lifespan.
If we are comparing where SFV was after its launch and its first full season, and where SF6 is right now, it's not even night and day's difference, the two games are planets apart from each other.
SF6 is in much much better shape comparatively timeframe for timeframe.
The FGC are just impossible to please, there was literally hate mail EVERYWHERE for SFV and now all of a sudden it's a sentimental legendary edition of the series that never was.
    Smh 🙄

And that’s without even getting into how broken it was on release in terms of the fighting system . Street fighter 6 is superior on a technical and content level in every way. Now in terms of the fighting game system that will always be subjective . And if people think sf5 is better systems that’s fine but that was not the mindset when the game was out . People were constantly complaining about that game whether it was sweep into v trigger , the v triggers themselves . How there was no sauce in the game and how common robbery was. Ngl the SF community contradicts themselves so much lol. Just say you want your character in the game and that’s it because they actually all love street fighter 6. None of them can make valid points to say why five is better than six ESPECIALLY FROM A ENJOYMENT ASPECT. Mfs literally play the same top five characters all based off how good their V triggers are. It’s honestly like you have to live or die by the V trigger and beyond the trigger. Your characters tool set would determine if their ass or not. Like I’m just personally not going to fall into the trope that the SF community is trying to pull with calling a game that they’ve hated for over 10 years seriously try to turn around and say….. It’s better than six. Like people can’t have their cake and eat it too. Also ngl people gotta stop taking what the pros are saying like idom who’s been complaining about manon whether he wants to admit missing Laura or not is simply coping, but even that small aspect doesn’t validate SF5 being better than SF6, even if they want to go and nitpick every little detail

I mean I can say what I like about 5. V trigger and vskill were more fun and added lots of variety. I prefer have pressure works in V. I prefer the normal priority system in 5. I liked how the global mechanics in V are not extremely over bearing. The roster in v even comparing season 2 SFV to Sf6 is better imo. Music in V was vastly better. Ranked system was way better in V.
Things I prefer in 6 is basically graphics and netcode. I also think 6 is more balanced.

    • @kage1573

@@kc_graves6248I don't know about that because even something like the drive rush can mainly be used 2 or 3 times in a row until burnout happens while also leaving the opponent vulnerable to attack which shows that it is a move that is best to be used in certain circumstances but still having variety in the moveset.
The drive impacts are similar to the focus attacks from Street Fighter 4 while still having an obvious weakness of three attacks or throws but many of the drive mechanics have to be used sparingly because you can use them for offense or defense but going into burnout can make you vulnerable.

Some would say that Third Strike doesn't have real footsies because of parrying. Just had to throw that in there since Third Strike fans can be a bit pretentious in thinking that their game is the one flawlessly great Street Fighter. The game was a commercial flop that nearly killed the series but its legacy was saved by Evo moment #37.
SF5 really was kind of boring to watch though. And what SF6 lacks are the personalities, rivalries, and unsanitized FGC content of the SF4 era. I'm glad I got to experience that '09 to 2015 era during which SF4 ushered in not only a resurgence of Street Fighter, but of fighting games in general. SF5 and its contemporaries just failed to recapture that magic.

Throws are mind-numbingly common now, and not flashy in the slightest. Every single round someone is almost certainly going to get thrown, and that always leads into the exact same situation. On the other hand, Phoenix is a character that demands a change in strategy in both players to play around her comeback potential. Some things I prefer about SFV is even though it was ugly as sin Ryu didn’t have sickly green skin like he does now, Ken was ugly as shit but somehow looks worse this time around, v trigger had to be built you didn’t just have it at the start of the round, there was way less low forward spam and only strong players could get reward off of it, and the game wasn’t as colorful as a 2025 SpongeBob episode with the saturation turned all the way up, not to mention the costumes and what I think is better visual clarity and feel (not a huge issue to me but SF6 feels very floaty, almost like the characters are hollow. Not a deal breaker but something I feel and do not like. The hitstop feels this way too)…just my opinion…
I’m primarily a melee player (13 years) and there are 100% valid, material critiques you can make on every title since melee. The community felt so strongly about the critiques that they stuck with the original game. The new games did not deliver on what made melee so great. It’s a real thing that happens lol.
It’s not that complicated to understand or see if you are ACTUALLY in a scene & not just someone who partakes in discourse about games they don’t actually play and just repeats what RUclipsrs say telling you to be positive.
When you play a game for 4-10 years you get sick of it and are deeply aware of its flaws. You hope the new title addresses them and improves on the formula. But these devs keep instead making big changes towards new directions. It’s not like people are getting what they have asked for then going “this sucks, new game bad”.
Toxic negativity is toxic and toxic positivity is toxic. Just be honest and everyone wins. We can have better discourse and maybe better games if people stop acting like bots whenever people have an opinion
    EDIT:
And even though melee is “my game” I have critiques of it. The sequels certainly did not address them lol they just went in a different direction and sometimes that happens and sometimes things get lost when devs do that….and sometimes players prefer that that wasn’t the case
    Not complicated.
And in my own experience I found SFV’s CPT more fun to watch than SF6’s. I wish that wasn’t the case, I don’t hate this game, I just don’t get excited to spectate it. I don’t even have a horse in the race so that’s worth something. It might just be the amount of DR and system mechanic (along with the visuals which I really do not care for at all) in each match that I feel is overpowering other elements of the game. Idk

Things I personally find better in SF5 than SF6:
    - OST
    - Lots of Costumes
    - Lots of mods
    - Female muscles (more prominent in all ladies, not concentrate in only one big girl).
    - Better Frame Traps (If you like to pressure your opponent all day and don't get upset when you are receiving the pressure).
    - Chun Li. I personally like her moveset a lot more in 5.
(Edit) - Attack Animations are also better in SF5. Juri and Chun are fine examples of that. Their moves are beautiful in 5. 6 is a bit... Strange.
All that said, SF5 was “I Got My Round Stolen” - The Game. V-Trigger system was a mess. Also, bad hair, weird faces, big hands and feet, and dumb Abigail are somethings I don't miss at all.

Pft hahahahaha it's, in your opinion, better because you're struggling in this one. Both games are trash compared to Third Strike and SF4. SF5 almost killed SF's side of the FGC. I'm shocked at how few people truly understand why and what's at the base of the issues. SF5 and SF6 are both inferior because they MASSIVELY lowered the ceiling... By 300 PERCENT! It's shocking how ignorant the average tournament player is about game design. Street Fighter NEEDS one frame links. The games need more ways to be great at them. ALL of the FGC's most hype, non-drama moments are related to execution difficulty. ALL. OF. THEM. Full Stop. Evo moment 37, the most famous FGC moment, was so hard Justin Wong didn't even know you could do it. Without a high execution ceiling, there's really only one way to be great at SF... To have great reaction speed. You can't train reaction speed very much. So if you have an intrinsically average or low reaction speed, say, 250ms or slower, you will never win a major. No matter what. But if you could get max damage, knew all the character specific, super hard combos, it could make up for the deficiency. How do these dummies not understand this? I guess that's why they're playing video games instead of getting their PhD in physics and especially game design lol.

Nah I feel what idom said bout the drive meter. It feels like there is so much to look out for with just the universal mechanics and then pair them with certain characters who have hard to deal w/ specials and supers like Rashid lv 2. It’s a lot to deal with and the drive meter gain is a little op compared to the things that drain your opponents’ drive gauge. I think sf4 did better at combo expression by utilizing execution as the means to do longer more damaging combos. In sf6 as long as you can maintain your drive gauge more so than your opponent, you can spam the unga shit over and over more so than what past titles have allowed. It’s not bad, sf6, it just feels like some characters are playing the game while others are in a different franchise.

      @NahItsLAN 12 часов назад

I main Chun and idc about not having a throw loop. I still grab people a lot in the corner cause people are afraid of getting shimmied, and the mental stack is so high that people aren’t always going to be ready for it when you do decide to go for throws. Throw in meaties, safe jumps, and tick throws, people will still crumble in the corner.

    • @willkershisnik5893
      @willkershisnik5893 8 часов назад

@ yeah but what I’m saying is that your corner pressure is inherently weaker because without a throw loop blocking is a way stronger option. I also play chun and her blockstrings aren’t that long. If someone just blocks in the corner they have a good chance of waiting out your pressure. Sure you can still throw where you would frame trap, but that’s not what I’m saying. What I’m saying is because there is less threat of throw (less spots to do it and can’t do it on wake up) the pressure from those two characters is a lot worse in the corner. Also on top of that, say you do throw where you can frame trap, now what? You get very little to follow up with as oki even though you’re in the corner, it just isn’t great.

I think objectively sf6 is better, especially for a launch game but I like sfv better. Off the top of my head, main things that I think are better about sf6 gameplay-wise. Punish counter is an amazing mechanic, which I think would've been great for sfv on moves besides EX DP. Perfect parry, BUT only for special moves. So in sfv you can deal with shit like dash straight or urien ex tackle. And maybe also fireballs
Other than that, things that were bad in sfv. Anti-air jabs. Glad they got rid of those. V-trigger....was fine, for the most part. The only reason I say that is because getting a random button pressed on you in neutral into v-trigger into the round basically being over unless you guess right, to me, feels exactly the same as getting low forward drive rushed close to the corner or getting perfect parry back thrown into the corner into throw loop. And I'm sticking by that. Plus they can do those at literally any time as opposed to needing to build your v-trigger bar in sfv. But the way throw loops/meaty situations post-season 2 in sfv were designed was really good. Low forward hit confirm and low forward drive rush are similar, but the fact that it takes some level skill to hit confirm and that most of the time if you messed it up, you're punishable after is really important. Versus just mashing drive rush into free plus frames. Or if it hits, you get a free corner carry or over 50% health if you have level 3
And like idom said, the things that make sf6 "bad" or not fun to play are core mechanics of the game that can't be changed without reworking the entire game, which could be a big issue later on compared to how some things got "fixed" in sfv
Also random thing that doesnt actually matter. I think crossups in the corner shouldnt have got taken away so you add some slight extra risk for jumping in while in the corner
Random thing that does actually matter. WHERE TF ARE ALL THE CHARACTER COSTUMES? WE DONT CARE ABOUT AVATAR COSTUMES!
But yeah. Thats my 2 cents lol

We compare SF6 in its mid 2nd season to SFV final season. And yeah, I am not suprised some people look at SFV with nostalgia or some sympathy. SFV ath the end had huge roster with various characters. 1 thing I could always say about final state of SFV -> there is no way you would not be able to not find character for yourself. Also game was in very stable. Slowed down both by gameplay mechanics and just players being so experienced and skilled. SF6 is definetly not at this stage yet. Game is really volatile because of both - huge damage, offensive mechanics, drive rush and defense being still in development vs well developed offense. Also current roster kinda suck to be honest compared to final roster of SFV. If you can't really find your character yet in SF6 I am not really suprised. We definetly lack variety in roster.
Except that, SF6 is far better game than SFV in every other aspect. And if you compare 2nd season SF6 to 2nd season SFV, SF6 is just better in every aspect.

  • @thedarkwonder9954

During the SFV run I took a few looooooong breaks from the game because it just wasn't "it" at that time. With SF6 I get mad at it sometimes, but it never made me take months long breaks. It's fun, but you have to deal with the game and its faults. The faults aren't game breaking. But, they can be frustrating to deal with. The Drive system in itself needs some work. I think it could be fixed if you gained meter at maybe half the rate we currently do so that you can use it more sparingly instead of everywhere. The burnout system I think is a bad punishment system because when you have characters that can constantly keep the pressure on you and chip away at your drive gauge then I am forced to try and parry. That adds to more dumb mind games. Mind games aren't bad but if I have to guess a lot of the time then the fun gets sucked out of the game.

As someone who LOVE SFTREET FIGHTER put a number I love all....SFV was my favorite SF game, is a game that have everything I wanted for years in SF, lower the difficulty of execution I will forever be grateful they did that, but I also love the V system I can´t care less what the haters say back then, or now, that system was HYPE as F.....all that been say......SF6 is the my new favorite SF game, and is everything V did but better, I have my gripes with the game but no gameplay wise, I love the Drive System, this is so flipping FUN....not sure if more than the V-System, I still miss Vtriggers and Vskills, and Vshift is wayy better than Perfect Parry, I will fight anyone on that.....but yeah I think what 6 have do with the Drive system and how improve even bad characters is great, and as a whole, SF6 is the better game, there is no question about that.....but I also understand that this is a more volatile game and in the competitive scene....that is not good, this have let to stuff like spam Drive RUSH, perfect parry interrupting the flow of battle and making all the effort in vain and a lot more stress when you have to react to many stuff, Drive Impact might not be as scary as day 1, but is still something players even in highlevel skill play have to ALWAYS be ready for and make any situation just stressing even if the opponent never use it, the treat of that and shimy in this game is insanity, so as a casual game is fun as F, but as a competitive, is just too stressful, this might be the reason so many pros ate now looking back at SFV as the competitive scene in the game was probably the most balance specially at the end............except for LUKE ruining everything but you can argue the same for 4 with ELENA so in that regard both are even. Again me personally love BOTH SFV and SF6 are great games in their own right, I miss so many things from V, like Vtriggers, Vskills of certain characters like Ken, Chunli, etc, miss so many cool characters introduce in the game or reintroduced, and miss the amount of great content Capcom start adding after fumbling the bag with that awful release, we got so much stages, costumes, colrors and stuff for the ROSTER not avatar crap......SF6 have a much better launch and great content by default, but they kinda have fumble in REVERSE now they don't feel to add more stuff only avatar crap....making the game felt stale when in reality is NOT. Again is the GOLDEN RULE, if you struggle in the new game, the old one is ALWAYS BETTER.....and heard this since SFII, this is not a new thing not even exclusive of SF the same is been saying in all fighting games, as someone who legit LOVE the previous game as I defended and STILL defend SFV as a great not good, ONE OF THE BEST FIGHTING GAMES EVER MADE.....I love SF6....MORE now, so just ged GUD people, appreciate the past, and love what you have now......still CAPCOM give us COSTUMES and STAGES STOP BEEN LAZY.

I’ve been playing since SF1. So I guess it’s different for me. I began as a Guile player. I don’t use him now. My fav characters are Gen, Sagot, Ibuki, Mokoto, Zeku….no of them are in SF6. To me the most interesting thing is how many good players don’t play the new version of the game for a year or two or three or ever because they don’t like the initial balancing phase of the game.
I gotta give capcom credit for trying something new with each iteration. To know they are going to alienate all the ‘new game bad’ types and potentially have another flop like marvel infinite. Not many companies taking risks like that knowing something different could be dead on arrival. You take risks some pay off some don’t, good on them for taking risks. Personally I have faith they will balance it and costumes are coming, by season 3 hopefully all this current discourse is put to bed. Come on capcom do something.
SFV and SF6 play very similar outside of drive rush and while drive rush is a huge part of this game, it is a new experimental system that ideally capcom will adjust. The throws loops I can’t defend. Maybe capcom is on drugs.
So many good players didn’t play SFV cause Vtrigger bad but by season 4 especially to the end it was a great balanced game with 40+ characters all unique that so many people gave up on so early.
It sucks capcom doesn’t balance it perfectly out of the gate but is it to the point where it’s not worth playing at all? I guess that’s up to you and if you don’t like it that’s cool but kind of sucks cause underneath drive rush abuse is a good fun game but drive gauge it has made a lot of good players disappear. Would love to know what capcom thinks about all this.

I need them to give me skins, bring back Laura and Lucia, nerf drive rush or just stop it from eating my inputs, and add more SF characters. SF is THE FIGHTING GAME. We do not need guest characters outside of the Capcom sphere. Don't get me wrong I like Terry and Mai, but they have a game coming out soon. We don't need them here and I want more of the actual SF characters or ones from their other series you know? Potentially revive those older fighters or get some new staples into the series.

SF6 is better than SF5. Just b/c SF5’s netcode is garbage, doesn’t mean the game is.

Yeah I think it's just to see me if everyone didn't feel the same and was more well made and people have more creative kits because people move sets aren't as creative as some Street fighter 5 characters

Every community will always complain about their game(not exclusive to fg). Unless the game goes extinct people won't be happy lol.

At no point has SF6 surpassed SFV and it doesn't look promising.
People talking about how people always miss the old game..etc...are just being bots and not thinking.
People saying it's not right to compare the end of a game to the beginning of the next game... why not? I had SFV S4 and S5. It was the game I was playing until 6 released. 6 is a downgrade! There is next to nothing about 6 that is superior to V. And we must keep in mind that fighting games, SF especially have always had multiple iterations. Hating on V for a bad launch forever when there were multiple iterations makes no sense. 6 may have had a better launch but it's far from the better game.

Good video, idom speaking the truth. Crabbas in the comments can't handle the truth about their favorite game and only want to hear toxic positivity. Been like this since the game came out, this is why the sf games has been getting worst over the years

Yeah usually happens when they lose that they claim that the vapid SF V was better than the feature rich SF 6!

Man, SFV was terrible. Not only that, it was more boring to watch as a spectator. Nobody wanted to watch those games! No newcomers wanted to stick around. Some wouldn’t even give the game a chance.
Was sfv objectively a better game or are people only saying it because they had an easier time winning games back then?

I really believe most of the fondness for V mostly comes from it's near retirement age as a SF entry, which speaks volumes.
