As a certfied massage therapist (in california) we are taught pathology like how disease travel and safety procautions. She shouldn't have been working, whether she had to cancel the day of the appointment she shouldn't have even been at work. I am so sorry you went through that, even having ocd myself I would've cried a river I don't even blame you for not saying anything when your getting a massage your valnurable I would've done the same thing, like what else am I supposed to do. She could at least wiped you down with some alcohol..do she have alcohol? even spa I know at least has 91% alcohol

I feel you, it's hard. I feel like we all just don't want to cause issues or hurt anyone's feelings. She could have said something too though- "I'm not feeling great today but need to be at work (for whatever reason.) I want to be sure you're okay with that or we can reschedule." I work with children 3 months to 10 years. We definitely get more colds or sinus infections etc than most people (unless you have your own young kids.) I always make it a point to tell people I'm not feeling well if there are obvious signs- leftover sniffles, cough, nasally voice etc and then we can decide how to proceed. Actually, just a month ago I had a really knarly throat infection. I had an appointment that afternoon for the contractor that's upgrading my pool/patio area this spring to come look at the yard. I stood far away enough I wasn't breathing in the same vicinity and just said "I'm sorry, I'm not feeling the greatest. I can maintain the distance while we talk or we can reschedule." Super easy and polite. You never know when people are uncomfortable and just are too nice to say so.
Girl yes I was very passive as a teen even as an adult. But in late 2019 I had this older coworker who was sick she had pneumonia she was out, she came back still sick and so she would cough a lot. Mind you I have a history with asthma so I always knew to just stay from people who are sick. But with her I had to work with her, the jobs she would do I had to revise, I had to touch whatever she was touching after her. So I straight up went to her and told her I have asthma i cannot get sick please cough into a tissue, get you a hand sanitizer bottle keep it with you I CANNOT get sick like that and yeah she was upset with me but like come on. And then 2020 covid happens!! I was not playing at all with anyone.

I own a Massage Studio in CT and i would say try to find a small business massage studio rather than a franchise. As soon as one of my workers are sick I’m quick to rescheduling their clients and make sure they are at a 100% when coming back. Franchise massage places are like the fast food of massage they have a abundant rotation of clients, and a lot can get overlooked at places like those.
Jeez this reminds me of when I got a massage at a place my sister recommended and the lady I got was so strong it was so painful I was silently crying (and this is coming from someone that likes a good amount of pressure). I built up the courage to ask her for less pressure, but it continued despite asking multiple times 😭 and me being a people pleaser I stopped asking and just took it

Massage therapists are in a “position of power” over the client, and it is very common for clients to freeze/not speak up when they’re uncomfortable or don’t like something. Ain't that the truth!!! My last baby she messed me up! I swear she threw a party in my womb and I had to kick her out. I used to sit criss cross apple sauce 😂 all the time all day everyday I was sooo comfortable sitting like that. Now 3 mins in and I'm dying. I'm also lactose intolerant now. My back kills me. The hair falling out is insane. My leg always feels numb. She's my 3rd. With the other 2 I had no change but her 🙄 ughh I feel like 98 years old. I also got 2 flat feet, and so do my babies. My 2nd has inserts and my 3rd has braces but mainly bc she came out a monkey. She was born with her feet holding together😅.

The more videos I watch I’m like this girl is me!! Down to the damn calcium sucking babies during pregnancy!!! My whole life I have had a wonderful mouth …. I never had braces my teeth have always been white even while drinking coffee like it was a lifeline wine … etc etc …. I had my son when I was 17!! And I bit into a piece of bread. Like a regular old piece of white bread! And cracked half my damn mollar in the back of my mouth! Well I got that fixed no problem ….. well being that I had him my senior year of high school I didn’t obviously have more kids right thereafter … I went to college, med school and did my residency before I had any more kids. I got married the end of my 2nd year of med school, so we were married for a while before I got pregnant…. There’s a point to explaining all of this, my son was 11 when I got pregnant .. ELEVEN!!!! I got pregnant with my twin girls and these little beautiful fuckers were like vampires with calcium …. 2 damn molars!! Not one but 2!!!! One in my 2nd trimester and the 2nd 2 weeks before giving birth!! First one with my twin pregnancy was just a chip … like 1/4 of it chipped but my 2nd was like 3/4 of my tooth!! I just thank god that it wasn’t in the front part of my mouth or anywhere you could see when I smiled and every single tooth that cracked was with soft things … my son was a piece of bread and the big cracking was with a meatball! A damn meatball!!!!!! And the littlest one of them all was with a starburst … I craved the hell out of taffy and starbursts and lollipops candy like that while pregnant with my girls…. Never had any issues with my teeth prior to getting pregnant with my son (which again I was 16 when I got pregnant and 17 when I had him so it’s not like there was all this time before hand) but my son was 11 when I got pregnant again so for 11 years after him I NEVER had NOT ONE ISSUE with my teeth not until I got pregnant again. I am currently almost 7 months pregnant with my last 🤞🏼baby … I just turned 32 so I am good lol but knock on wood I have yet to have any issues this time around. Also with my son I had preeclampsia …. Now when you have preeclampsia with one pregnancy you’re at a much higher risk of having it again with other pregnancies …. I didn’t start showing signs of possible preeclampsia with my twins until I was 35 weeks and 3 days …. Started noticing that I was much more swollen then normal and being that I work at a hospital I was always going down to l&d to keep an eye on it and that’s when my BP was getting higher and not really dropping much after laying down for a few mins on my side so we were trying to wait as long as possible before inducing … the goal was 37.5 weeks … well I ended up having them at 36 weeks 2 days. By the end of my 35th week my calves, ankles and feet looked like they belonged to a 700lb person. From my knee to my foot it was pretty much all one damn size. I wish I could post pictures in the comments cause I have so many pictures since my belly was so big I hadn’t seen my feet since like 20-22weeks (which was a far cry from my pregnancy with my son, 8 months pregnant you couldn’t even tell I was pregnant unless I turned to the side and even then I looked like I was about 4-5 months along) …. Now I had a C-section with my girls but I have had one with my son too cause boy oh boy was that the worst labor and delivery!!! Epidural never worked and I tore so bad and so far up that my Dr, who was an obgyn for almost 20 years, never saw anyone tear the way I did… it took 3 hours to stitch me up!! And he wasn’t a big baby he was 7lbs 6oz which he was like a week and a half early so he would’ve probably been like 8.5-9 lbs had I gone all the way to my due date. Anyway I’m praying that this pregnancy is smooth with no preeclampsia and no cracked teeth. Btw I’ve been had my teeth fixed immediately. I would never ever ever ever walk around with some cracked teeth looking like a methhead. No thank you
