I definitely could get behind more standardization between the west and east plants. And I think that with the increase of solar, the 12v fridge makes a ton more sense than the gas/electric
I do remember the summers and falls in the intermountain west when I used to drive a semi cross county. It’d be hot as hell in the daytime, but by 10-midnight, it would dip down to the low 60s and even 50s and be absolutely perfect sleeping weather.

Like this one very much. I'm in Kansas need large ac here too. As an upholsterer single recliners are best because of replacement or repairs . Theatre seats would both need to be sent to trash if 1 has major problems. Singles can easily be replaced...just a thought.True queen is a must.

I am in Nebraska so big a/c is a must. I would like a 12v (w/adequate solar). Please upgrade all units to the western option. I like farmhouse decor and would go w/theater or a storage sofa. Yes, add the medicine cabinet in bathroom. Strongly dislike the radius shower. Makes this unit unusable for me as being disabled I have to have room for a shower chair to be used. However for most people I'm sure it's adequate. A residential Queen is a big deal for me so I appreciate those when they are used. I get that most people replace their trailer mattresses and I probably would too but I just hate having to replace it immediately. Manufacturers need to understand that being able to use standardized size bedding is a huge deal. Most people don't want to have to buy special sheets or wrangle with their standard size sheets to make them try and fit. At least for me it's a big deal and I think most campers especially women would feel that way since they generally are the ones handling purchasing the bedding and making up the beds. The Western models are better equipped for boondocking with larger propane and water tanks and I think most people would like to have that available. I know I would.

Coming from owning a Rocky Mountain 245rlsw I do like the room this model seems to offer, but a true queen bed is a must. I would get a12 for fridge for this as well, the dual fuel just don't seem ţo work well in lower temperatures. I do appreciate the upgraded water capacity and it has been a marriage saver! I wish companies would upgrade the gray water tank accordingly. Every three days I am draining the gray water, when boondocking.

My opinion is you can't have to much water or propane. 10 cubic foot compressor fridge all the way. They just work better in the hot and humid summer here in north eastern oklahoma.
I never exchange propane tanks anyway. It's much cheaper to get them refilled and you actually get 20 pounds of propane instead of 15.

12v fridge all day for me. I live in the PNW, but it doesn't matter. The new LFP batteries can run those all day long no problem with only a little solar power. This is an awesome couples model, if you are both super short. Baby queen is a no go, and I am 5' 9".

I like the layout and wish more had the option or chairs like that or theater seats in the smaller sizes. I always like bigger water tanks. The fridge I want what works best if you are off grid. The bed it really depends on the quality of the mattresses. If I am just going to replace it I rather have the cheapest option so the smaller one. If it is a good one I would keep queen all the way. The one thing for me is the height. I am taller so I don't want to be hitting my head all the time.

  • @MichaelGalletly
    @MichaelGalletly Год назад +4

I'm in the west (Salt Lake City) and I'd prefer that the fridge be 12v and that we have the largest solar panels we can get. If there's an outdoor kitchen, I'd prefer a 12v fridge out there, too.
In the clantry (closet/pantry) if there is one, there should be both 12v and 120v ac outlets. Then you could put a battery charger or battery-powered devices like portable vacuum, drill, recip saw (great for firewood) etc. Also, any outlets that are on the inverter, particularly in the bedroom where one might use a CPAP or Oxygen concentrator, should be different-colored than the non-inverter outlets.
I'm short, so a camp queen wouldn't really bother me. Perhaps they could consider deleting the mattress out of the sale package--making it an option-- so that people could get the mattress they want without buying something they don't.

We have a 2023 waiting for us at our local dealer. We bought it at the Hershey show. One of the only things we didn't like was the mirror instead of a real medicine cabinet A medicine cabinet needs to be standard.
We optioned the hide a bed and the 8 cubic foot 12v fridge. The smaller tanks don't bother me because we optioned the 12 volt fridge and it's nice to be able to easily swap one out if needed. We take an extra 20lb for the grill and griddle. So in effect we always have a spare
One thing I did notice is that the cargo capacity specs jumped up 200lbs from what was posted earlier this year. I hope our unit has that added capacity.
This will be our 2nd Jayco and probably 10th RV in 30 years and we are looking forward to "going back in time".
There are a lot of advantages to stick and tin units and we will not go back to laminated anything.
    Great review as always!

Hey Uncle Josh hope you're having a great day? I really like this Jay flight 265RLS. The setup is perfect, I wish all the jay flights were the setup like the western built models. When I say that I mean the size of the refrigerator size, the floor to ceiling height. Plus the water holding tank should be the same size on every unit! If the unit comes with one door or two doors the windows in the doors should come with a shade in them from the factory. All the bathrooms should have the big 11 inch max air fan!but other then that I really think this is a great unit. Thank you Uncle Josh for all the information the good and the bad that you give us! Your number one fan an friend Leonard from NC.

    Boise, Idah❤me!!
    I love your videos.
In regard to this specific model…I don’t think the 2nd entry door into the bedroom is necessary. I think that it takes up too much floor and wall space. But as with almost all models I HATE the 3 burner stove tops. One frying pan fits nicely to cook up some breakfast but then doesn’t allow enough space to use the other 2 burners. Even putting a pot of water on one of the burners takes up space needed to use the other 2 burners effectively. I wish they would make the 3 burner range into a 2 burner one. Keep the stove top the same size just with 2 burners. Another thing I see with this model is the TV being too far from the living room area. You are right though it’s a nice couples floor plan but it isn’t one I would purchase.
We purchased from Bishs in Meridian, Idaho. We have a Crossroads 299QB. I lived in it full time from April through October 2022. Absolutely love it and am looking forward to spending this next season in it full time again.

I got the 22 rls. Having the window in the side of the slide would make a big difference. I am going to add a medicine cabinent before spring time. Having the vents in the floor and gaining 2 more drawers would be great. This model doesnt have much storage, but for just me and my son its amazing. AND we tow it with a half ton. The truck drinks gas like a divorced pirate but holds the road with confidence. I really enjoy your videos, thanks for taking the time.

Imagine, a desk built for two users and maybe file cabinet/storage on either end. Add a 120v outlet on either side, too.
You could then replace the jackknife sleeper with theater seating. Why? Now you have a great couple’s camper that has eating space, relaxing space, and work space.

We have this floor plan on a Jayco Whitehawk. Bathroom door is hinged on other side so bathroom is still accessible in road-mode from both sides. I have more counter but no pantry on the left of fridge. I like that change. I like the why-not pocket. The recliner by the door/behind counter - yes you can see above it, but it’s my biggest dislike. Ours came with true queen. But this model has been great and was our choice in part because of the road-mode ability which we’ve put to good use during trips. Nice changes though. But Josh, it's a dry heat...brahahaha 🤣🌅🔥🔥🔥 The bigger water/grey water tanks make more sense out here in the west. We typically have to travel farther or we are boondocking in the desert (117°) this past summer. I'd swap the theater seats/recliners to where the tri fold sleeper is and then make the dinette a desk with 2 chairs making it multi purpose. The bigger fridge and propane tanks are a must have. I could see where most if not all west coast options would be appreciated on the east coast. Sending love from San Diego.❤❤❤😘🏄‍♀️🏝

Could Jayco possibly swap the shower and toilet to make a nice big shower. I know it would sacrifice the large closet and outside storage, but, maybe engineer a smaller closet behind the shower that opens from the bedroom?? Just a little creative thinking on my part. Take the propane refrigerator. I have a 12-volt Furrion that works very well, but stops at rest areas and rustic campgrounds require more watt hours from the battery. The gas units work very well and consume very little propane.

They've since standardized 200w of solar to help with that. On a clear day it will offset that fridge
Gets trickier under trees and clouds of course

This was recorded much early this year because today the high was 32 degrees. Hot weather, I love it, 100 degrees is the best cycling weather. Nice layout and design. Get this, I am having Bish's in Meridian preform a Gen and chassis engine service and a Fleetwood recall on our Bounder, (I am paying for it) because the service at Bish's is fantastic.

Boise resident here.... I would go with the option for the 12v fridge, simply for off grid. However, one could debate that the gas fridge off grid is just as efficient and reliable.

Love this RV. We had a Jayco hybrid before getting our Grand Design and were very happy with the quality. Speaking of Grand Design, 🙄😁 I see Bish's has a 245rl in Idaho Falls(close to you?) and one in Davenport, IA. Gonna be near either location soon? Sorry Uncle Josh, you know I will keep asking for a video on one until you do one or they stop making them.

There is a lot to like about this design, but I will *ALWAYS* prefer bigger windows instead of overhead storage. I will also *NEVER* consider a trailer with a radius shower. I would consider this model if it had a rectangular shower. This would be better, as you note, with a full queen mattress from the factory and I would prefer it without the door in the bedroom, which would allow for a longer awning.

    • @elizabethscharnell9787

I like the farmhouse look, but I've always wondered; can the upholstery be ordered in different colors, or are they DiYable easily enough that folk just normally do it themselves? I don't know how I feel about the two chairs, personally. I think there's enough seating in there already that the two chairs just feel like Missing Storage Space rather than anything actually contributory, but I like the window so I'd also be conflicted about losing it in favor of a closet/pantry and storage bench combo. Maybe a smaller window to allow for storage and a single chair? This Midwestern chick desires mud-shoes / snow boot and coat drop-off as close to the door as possible (or extra pantry / storage space) for longer stays, but can't deny the appreciation for natural light.
