I have a 2004 996 GT3 Clubsport in atlas grey and I’m the original owner since new. Don’t think I’ll ever sell it as it’s rawness and finesse are one of a kind.
Nice video. I own one for 17 years and still enjoying the raw and responsive driving feeling. Something seldom mentioned about 996 GTG3rs is the rare suspension system is from cup car which is totally different to standard 996. It allows adjustment of toe angle just like the cup car. Also many parts actually from Porsche Motorsport which have a little different part number. It may be the last Porsche ever build which have no computer-driving-assist : )
Well, I was let out of that very same junction in a red 550 a few months back.....the guy slowed down quite a bit to achieve it as well. Very grateful to him, and very grateful to be in a 550.....
Really enjoyed that Damian thank you for taking the time to show and produce this car ..look forward to seeing a blue trim version in the garage ( I prefer too) 👍🇬🇧🚙
@@woutererasmus8809Gen 2 with RS wing. I think it is almost as collectable and since I drive it regularly it‘s just the better car 🤷♂️. By the way, still love it after 4 years….
You guys are smashing it out the park this year, the vids are tapping in to exactly what I love about cars. Hope the GR Yaris will be coming out again soon...
Ah yes, the good ol days when we had freedom of choice! Great video thanks Damian, perhaps next time you can really surprise us by wearing your fav onesies when you jump up from behind the cars like that! :-)
Lots of small and large changes in this car compared to the regular 996 GT3. I had the pleasure of experiencing firsthand the 996 GT3 mk2, and Ferrari 360 Modena - I always wondered how much better the GT3 RS and Challenge Stradale were.
You are spot on with how one has to be on ones toes on a rutted road. Very alive to say the least. Mine is an -04 with 18000 miles on it, ceramic brakes, full cage (for those extra...graceful ingresses) and AC delete. Get one. It would sit well in your collection.
Yes , indeed they look cool. Especially when you got a 4S (the rear looks also nice) without the turbo (and spoiler) , but with all options. People often complained about the 996, but why nobody complained about the one eyed too happy smilley on the 993. Ah yes because the 993 isn't really a 911, but the 959 brought into the '90 basically. Especially when you got the 4s.
Huge Porsche fan boy here! I discovered one of these hidden in a back lane near my house a few weeks ago. I knew what it was immediately, despite a fence hiding it. This one had a ‘duck tail’ rear wing though. I checked the reg number and it has around 45k miles on it. Love at first sight! Damien, you need to buy one!
“Mongey,” as in 996 GT3RS alcantara steering wheel, I have not heard since I was about 14. Red wine is now dribbling down my chin. My “mongey” chin. Excellent review. I have a friend in Australia who own one of these in RHD, 1 of 16 to land down under.
I had one when they where new. Great track car and a real challenge to extract the performance from but on the road a bit compromised to say the least.
Great video as always. I love your hankering for classics & legends, I have been subscribed to your channel for over 2 years now & never missed an episode. 959 or F50 soon...?
Yet another fantastic video review i was a very lucky boy back in 2003 my friend had this GT3 with the blue stripe and wheels (which is my choice as well ) and he let me drive it a lot road and track and your absolutely right one of the all time greats. Never not had a Porsche ever since then. Thanks again guys 😎.
I enjoyed that video as it was packed with interesting information about the car, and wow a 2004 car in such pristine condition. Sounds like the perfect purchase for the garage
Awesome video!! If I had the option I would go 996 RS as well but a well sorted 996 GT3 isn’t far behind with that raw feeling and character as well! Such underrated cars.
A great video again. They let you have it because they know you will either buy it or sell it for them. Confession time. I get the fizz when I see a gt3 in yellow. Its that biplane spoiler that draws me in.
Superb episode! More of this kind of content pls. Damian, it felt like you were looking for a nudge from the viewers to say go ahead and buy one, well let me just shove you into the BUY IT column
For me this is THE GT3RS, its just looks like its come from a race track. On my only trip to the Nurburgring in the mid 2000's it seemed like every other car was one of these, it really stuck in my memory.
Definitely Blue colour scheme...I remember seeing a red version for sale for about £50k about 13-15 years ago..At the same time you could get a Standard 996.2 GT3 for about £35-£40k.. How times have changed...
Wee done. Great commentary. I agree with everything you've said. I would say the GT3 996 is also a great model and perhaps would be my pick of the 996 range. The RS is more special, yes. But the GT3 is more everyday. Stay safe and thanks for the videos
I owned one from new. Paid £84k, which was circa £5k premium at the time. Mine was white and BLUE. Stunning car BUT was very tricky and intimidating on the road. 997RS was a much better road car. Sold for just £74k in 2012 with 12k miles ...
I had a 996.1 GT3 Club Sport with a few minor modifications for 12 years and loved it but always fancied one of these. Would have one of these in my dream car garage. Would love a 996GT3RS with the 4.0 litre engine from the 997 model. Prefer the one with the blue decals though.
I had both at the same time - The 996.2 Rs by a mile because of 360cs F1 gearbox mainly and it's weildiness and steering - Damian's right about car I used mine with EVO magazine a few times....although for me 993 not 964RS clips it just (997 and 991 don't get close btw) - and respectfully it is have one tiny demit Damian... you can't get to the fog light switch behind a pillar cage to pull it out ! Nice review as ever.
Nice video of a great car - if only it was in blue, I'm sure you would have bought it! Plus I think you are very right on future classic/current low price. One thought: your video shows the milometer at 10258 - whilst the Ashgood listing shows it at 10157, and their pictures show a reading of 9763 = I wouldn't at all worry how much Beanz you gave it/ragged it, someone else has quite clearly been having some fun whilst they could - its one reason I don't buy low mileage garage queens, every mile counts in pricing and I like using them, although with the low number of units produced I think this model of car could be one of the few exceptions? - Good Luck!
That's why you buy a 996 GT3 Clubsport and with only a handful of mods, will be as fast or faster and you will have plenty of cash left over and you would have no problem thrashing it on track regularly...like I do!😁
A belter of a review The only improvement you could have made was to buy it It’s a peach and one of the very best cars ever made Ten properly ies 🏴🙏
So when do you pick it up then? 🤣🤣🤣, it may be astronomically priced to the likes of me, but it's all about simple pleasures, and I get the distinct impression that you thoroughly enjoyed that drive 👍👍. Having never owned a 911 (I've been in one a few times a 980 911 turbo and it was intoxicating, every component of that car to me was mesmerising, the 5 dials, the dashboard, everything was ruthlessly germanic and purposeful!), I'd take any 911 or boxster but this one is obviously one of the finest models 👍
'used to have freedom of choice"... love it.

Buy it, buy it!! In the day of hybrids and ev’s...that car is a mechanical masterpiece!!
Agree. Love those headlights too FWIW. 😊👍
Probably halve in price once Tesla’s roadster is out, thinking.
"Not because I want to smoke, but because I like to be reminded that people used to have freedom of choice"

Is it just me, or do the fried egg headlights look really cool these days?
The used 996 market would say so as well!
@@eshanmirash2456 I still reckon the 996GT3 is undervalued at £70k or whatever they are.
